Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
To be honest, unless some games go to historic lows (Over 75% off), there isn't much that would be "please take my money". The combination of a large backlog and lots of indie bundles really chopped down what I'm willing to spend money for. It isn't like I'm taking my money elsewhere for PC games....
For me, I think it's just a matter of learning my lesson. Too many times I've jumped on a sale, thinking it was a great deal, but the game ends up on my backlog and inevitably goes on sale for much cheaper before I get around to actually playing it. I'm no longer looking at sales in terms of "How good of a deal is this?", but in terms of "What are the chances this will get discounted lower before I play it?" I'm more discerning and less impulsive than I used to be - and some of that may be because of the backlog, but I think some of it is also the fact that deals on Steam (particularly extended sales like this one) are far more frequent than they used to be (the December sale used to be the only really big sale each year, but now there's practically one every four months).

I told myself I was going to get through more of my backlog before this sale, because I do like being able to stock up when games are cheaper, but I really didn't make much progress, so the only games I'm really looking at on Steam are ones I'd immediately move to the top of my backlog, which really isn't much.
Ooh, this description makes the Ys games much more attractive to me. The only Ys I played was the 3rd game on SNES, which I did feel skewed toward grindiness. If I were to only invest my time in on one Ys game, should I get Origin or Oath?
I would say both but if you want one, go for Oath now. Origin later.

Yep. As it stands I have more than enough games to last until the next Summer Sale. Not going to get anything unless it hits my targeted price point.

Oath in Felghana is the 3rd Ys game. Well a remake of it anyway.
Wait, WUT?
I have the majority of that bundle, but couldn't help but buy it.

Guess I'll be gifting some GG keys...
Okay, that's a GOOD price if I didn't already own Oblivion, Fallout Series, DOOM, and Skyrim on Steam.
they're all separate codes, you can send/sell your extras if you wanted to
Finally picked up the Ys games. I don't know when I will get around to them since I'm currently playing KOA: R.

edit: I'm extremely disappointed that Revelations 2012 removed the dance key. Since I'm terrible at FPS I at least like to run around dancing while I'm mauled by waves of Mayans.
It's still there in the options, but it does nothing. What a horrible tease.
I've just played Revelations 2012 for the first time ever. Quite frankly, I'm disgusted. Astonished. Taken aback. Appalled. Flabbergasted. Stunned. Speechless. Mortified. Petrified. Stupified.

I actually enjoyed it.
I liked the shotgun until it stopped firing on auto.
I'd point out that you can pickup Drakensang Complete: Original + River of Time + Phileasson's Secret for $10 on fleaBay. I did. The Special Plastic Edition (retail) is DRM-Free.
I actually own the non-Steam version but will be re-buying the Steam version anyway. It's the cheapest it's ever been on Steam, at least TRoT is, and I think there's a good chance this game will disappear off of Steam at some point.

DTP sold the US rights to distribute it to Valusoft because they are Germans and didn't really get that they don't need physical distribution here here in the US because boxed retail (outside of Blizzard games) is dead. They did this with a bunch of their other games too like Venetica and Grey Matter.

Recently DTP came to their sense and wants to get their games on Steam but Valve won't give them the time of day so they made them go to Greenlight and their games aren't doing well there in the popularity contest.

Right now the Drakensang games on Steam are only available in the US region under Valusoft. Valusoft already got unloaded once by the sinking ship that is THQ so who knows what will happen to their or if the US rights will revert back to DTP and be stuck in Greenlight limbo forever or what.

TL;DR - I'm getting Drakensang TRoT on Steam because I like all my games attached to my Steam account and I'm afraid this game will get yanked at some point.

So I go away for 6 hours and everyone starts putting santa claus hats on their avatars.

Anyway think I'll grab Tom Clancys End War. For $2.50 I should be able to have some fun.

Wait, it says "Activation:Must be activated on Steam". Does that mean they ALL activate on Steam? If so, SOLD.

EDIT: OH JOY.
Which of those Bethesda games will redeem on Steam?
All of them.

I think I have most of this pack, but I can't pass. I'll figure out what to do with the keys.

I guarantee you that price is a glitch, buy that fast. Didn't see Dishonored in there. No way are they intending to sell those two for $30 combined let alone all of that other stuff.
Looks like the site has taken a dump.
It better note before I buy two copies of all of Bethesda's and two copies of all of Stardock's stuff including new releases for $80. :p
Are the games all redeemed at once or do you get separated codes?
I'll let you know as soon as I figure out where to find them.

I've never bought anything from GamersGate, but they seem to do this a lot; put up a "fake" insane price, wait just enough for the word to spread through the internet channels, and pull it from the site; while still benefiting from the visitor hits generated from the stunt.

It's just something I've noticed.

Dammit I should have pulled the trigger right quick but I had to go and dump two Bethesdas and two Stardocks to get the 4th free but hey that Stardock pack had Fallen Enchantress plus all their other stuff cheaper than they are selling Fallen Enchantress (non-price mistake) by itself.
The site has just flat out died. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
My gf's so stubborn, she kept insisting she buy her own copy and not let me just buy it for her (she didn't have an account) and now the sites dead and I want to SO BADLY tell her she shouldve listened to me in the first place...

Barely got my order in because I sat there calculating in my head how many blue coins I needed to have enough blue coins to purchase the bundle.

Now I kind of feel like a dick. Only wanted Dishonored, and I'm 95% sure my brother is getting me :ps3: Dishonored for X-Mas.
