Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V7! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

Since the V6 thread, we've decided to leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Summer sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.


Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Meh, I'm not gonna go out of my way to get any cards. But it was free, so I joined the group. I'll play what I would play anyway and take what comes.

I was member 2,319 though. So I probably wont be in the first wave of invites.

Oooo... I just got an email that I got into the Beta and got a bunch of invites in my inventory. My profile is all snazzy now.

It looks pretty cool - you can "showcase" a certain aspect of your profile; I picked "Games Collector".

I predict this feature will be dropped within a year, or just plain forgotten by Valve, who'll be in pursuit of another shiny thing.

Try to get in by joining the group. If it doesn't work, I'll give you one of my invites. I've got three of them just burning a hole in my inventory.

And yeah, I also thought it was a joke when I first heard about it. I still thought it was a joke until I saw louie's post above.
 
Got in on the beta, but I have no desire to chase these trading cards. My only incentive is the increased friends list capabilities for higher account levels.
 
joined the group, which is now well past 20k, so I probably won't get an invite any time soon like you guys. Still, I posted a video of a squirrel stealing a candy bar in the begging thread, so we'll see if anything comes of that:lol:

How do you "showcase" something like that? I'm looking for the options but can't find it. Perhaps only people of a certain level can do that?

On my profile page it says this in that window at the top right side of the page:

You can feature one of your Badges here. From a Badge detail page, select "Feature this Badge."

How did you get some many Dota 2 invites? steam gave me like 7 and I quickly gave them away on the trading forums, didn't like the way they were clogging up my inventory

In your Profile Page, select Edit Profile. You should have a Featured Showcase option at the bottom of the page. There's quite a few options there including Game Collector, Favorite Game, Custom Info Box, etc. and just about each one is editable.

In case you're right about it being restricted to levels, I was at Level 10 when I got in.

The SuperBox (includes all of the X3 games, as well as all the X and X2 games) has also been 75% off. Steam says I bought it for $9.99 on Christmas Day 2011.

There should be a better sale on these games in a few weeks, whenever Steam gets around to its summer sale.

Oh I misunderstood. I thought the badge thing was what we were talking about. I'm only level 6, so I guess I don't have that option to add a showcase to my my account.

it sets the recommended settings for your system when you first boot up the game so I decided to turn on some higher settings to make it look better, it brought my 2 year old video card (AMD 6870) to its knees, it crashed two times in the first 30 minutes of gameplay. I may have to bring the settings down whenever I get back to playing it again.
 
Ugh this thing is going to drive me nuts once I get in or it becomes active for everyone. My OCD will require me to complete things that I really don't want to. I have a very weak will when it comes to things like this :whee:
 
Hey everyone, just a quick heads up that Enhanced Steam has been updated for Google Chrome to version 3.2 and should be updating automatically. This version adds profile links to the new beta profiles, a German translation, and the ability to filter your price history to particular stores.

Also 2 things here worth noting about X3:TC from Retail (uses Tages DRM in boxed version V2.0):

1. When the retail version is patched-up in its latest form, it's now DRM-FREE.
Tages DRM check was removed in Patch 2.5.

2. There's a (Tages) key in there for X3:TC retail boxes - that key should activate the game up onto Steam. See here, as it is on the Steam retail key list.
Those keys must be in a certain format to activate up onto Steam, though:
X3: Terran Conflict CD Keys in this format: 1ABC-D3FG-4567-JK8L

starting tomorrow Amazon will have all pc lego games on sale, don't know if you are interested in the others but here are the prices:

No online multiplayer = no buy for me, but that goes for most of, if not all of the lego games on PC. I can't give any feedback on the actual game though ;)

I picked up all the lego games from Amazon back when they did the Harry Batman Pack. Games seem to play great on the PC with a controller. Not sure about k/m. If you are a fan of the Lego series of games I would say they are worth it if you want to play them now.

Game is great if you like Lego games, and really great if you like Batman. Easily the second best Lego game in my opinion.
 
Thanks for Batman feedback, everyone. I'm gonna grab it without hesitation. If Lord of the Rings is a steam code then I might look into that for the Amazon sale, thanks for the heads up on that.

I played the Star Wars ones on PS2 and just repurchased Star Wars Saga for PC, good times.

Apparently there is DLC for Batman 2 that never came to PC, sucks but I can deal with it.

I have that exact drive. Bought 1.5 months ago for same reasons, same promo, I believe same price. Too many games. I love it. Fast. Quiet. No problems. I'd buy another. Basically silent except for the random odd hourly click. Speed as good or better than my Samsung F1 1TB, which was basically THE gold standard if you wanted speed and silence. Blacks are/were loud. I'm pretty sure the F1 ran toe to toe with the Black. Review at SilentPCReview.com for the F1. The seagate is the same or better, except 3 times the size. I notice 0 difference between the segate and the F1

If this information was helpful, you wouldn't have an extra badge group invite? Winky Winky.
 
Well now since Steam is a game within a game, I can tell that my OCD will have me being an achievement whore :lol:.

It doesn't help that my GF is an achievement whore either and constantly talks about games she is trying to get all the achievements from :lol:.

Where is the benchmark test located? Be damned if I can find it.

Nevermind! Found it in the Steam folder. I was used to in-game options like Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider, Hitman, etc.
 
Wait the trading card thing is invite only? Here I am searching all through my profile trying to figure how to get it started.. this is BS... every new thing I need in Steam is constantly invite invite invite... I'm simply not that popular...
