Yeah its the virgil one I am unsure on. Also Fallen enchantress has the loyalty discount back again. I can buy it for $9.99 like I could have all sale. So not really a deal but it makes it easy to say no to it.
^_^ Nod. Poking around on the forums, there's mod to use Virgil in the Bloody Palace, which helps to extend his play. If that interests you.

Drante gets Bleach hair later on for reasons, needless to say that's not outdated
I'm judging the skins purely on my sense of aesthetics. For me DMC about the combat and style. =) I really don't care about the story (which traditionally was a good thing). I'm never standing there asking myself, "What's my motivation?" Give me something stylish (or at least self-coherent).

That it is.

There's nothing inherently "broken" about the game, mind you. It just didn't grab me and I have little desire to go back.
^_^ yeah if it's as you described... looking for small specs in a starry space-sky. (My initial expectations were more in line with a traditional shump (e.g. 1942) / rail shooter style gameplay.

Once again, publushers have the final say on discounts. Valve merely suggests and works with them to determine optimal discounts. Valve can suggest things that are lower, but the publishers don't give a shit about card money and mind tricks, they just want to maximize sales. So if EA thinks that 70% off will sell as many copies as 75% off, they are going to do it. Has nothing to do with Valve using "but I'm just spending card money" pricing mind tricks.

Hurrah, SSZ community vote got fixed to 85%.  (So Bastion 85% vs SSZ 85%)... blast with Bastion still at 85% all hope it lost.  (and Bastion already got a flash... insult+injury)

Anyone recommend Ace of Spades? Always looked fun, but the reviews have scared me away.
I enjoy it just for the whole minecraft aspect but with combat against others. But 90% of the people play sniper because the rifle 1 hit kills you. The community has gotten small as well. I do find it entertaining and have gotten my $5 worth from it (bought it during the holiday sale)

I checked into this one too because it looks fun. The people posting in the Steam discussion forum for the game seem to echo the horrible reviews and the statements made by MHC above.

Seems Steam cards will get you about .30 off of a horrible, dead, multiplayer-only game.

I'm not sure when this feature was added but I just noticed that Chrome Enhanced Steam gives you access to all of the available profile backgrounds and if you set one up (under Edit Profile, very bottom of the page, Custom background) then anyone else using ES will see that background in your profile instead of the background set up from your inventory.

I might be way late to the game but COOL!  Thanks JS!

Alright, I may bite at GTA Complete for $12.49, it will finally finish off my card money and be the first purchase I had to make with real money.

As for the rest of today's deals, Fallen Enchantress Legendary Heroes is getting added to my wishlist to watch out for later, larger sales, and I'm still on the fence about picking up some Tropico 4 DLC. If I got a giftable copy of the base game since I already own it buying the collectors edition would be a no brainer, but as it is I'm leaning towards not worth it.

I'm actually interested in quite a bit today, but most of the things aren't cheap enough to get me to buy them. Evoland and Gunpoint, specifically.

How is War of the Roses: Kingmaker? Might try and get that at the 4-pack price. Also, is Tropico 4 worth buying if I bought Tropico 3 and never played it?

The steam fourms complained about the community being dead, was looking into it until I heard that.

You know the answer to that is no. If you ever get around to playing Tropico 3, Tropico 4 will be cheaper by then. I think the DRM Free version of the complete pack is $8 on Amazon right now.

Oh well, saves me money.

This...and it will end up in a shitty indie gala at some point

Get Warband instead.
Already have Warband, but it's in the backlog, so I'll skip War of the Roses.

Is there any reason I shouldn't sell these cards? Other than making badges and increasing your imaginary Steam number I'm not seeing any benefits.
Well, your chances of getting a booster pack drop increases every 10 levels you hit. Other than that, there is no benefit.

Valve could always add some benefit down the road. But at the moment, there isn't a whole lot of incentive to craft badges if the badges themselves aren't enough reward for you.

The sad thing is I practiced the mantra we all did in the months leading up to this sale as the winter sale whenever I saw a deal: "summer sale is just around the corner, wait it will be cheaper then.", and as for the card collecting BS, I blame the psychologist Valve hired a ways back, this is his voodoo i tell you!

I'm not seeing any benefit to engage in the grand "got to catch 'em all" scheme. Am I wrong for just wanting to sell the cards I do unlock for the $0.20 they are worth to make some actual use of them?? Is there something I'm missing (besides emoticons and wallpaper that you can't really see anyway) that I should consider?

Other than hoarding them in the hopes that eventually they will be worth more, no. I'd say just sell. Of course, now a lot of cards are worth about 5 cents a pop, so in the end really up to you.

This is the only reason I'm bothering with them:

Once eligible, your Steam Level increases your rate of receiving a booster pack drop:

  • Level 10: +20% increase in your drop rate
  • Level 20: +40% increase in your drop rate
  • Level 30: +60% increase in your drop rate
  • Level 40: +80% increase in your drop rate
  • Level 50: +100% increase in your drop rate (i.e. the rate has doubled)
  • Etc.
So, I'm thinking greater chance at booster = greater chance at foils = greater profit in the long run. *shrug*

This! 100%

I think in the future, I'm no longer telling myself wait till what the Steam [Season] sale offers. I could have gotten Skyram DLC a couple weeks back for $8/each... but the big steam sale offers them for $10.

My notion that Steam & Steam Sales are mainly reliable for picking up DLC that isn't carried/promo'd elsewhere. That has rung even truer on this sale than past sales.

Has anyone reported getting a foil out of a booster? Not sure if I have seen that anymore so I don't know if the foil rate increases.

Also, Gunpoint looks interesting but I refuse to support a 40% discount.  Why not just round up to 50%?  Greed, that's why.  I swear if another dev insists on getting paid for their work I might quit game hoarding gaming all together.

Question on Orcs must die 2? Is it a lot better than the first game or just more of the same with co-op and new traps and enemies? Cause I will likely play it solo so if the big improvement is co-op I will likely skip it.

The biggest boost is the co-op

That being said, I am a loner who refuses to play multiplayer unless forced too, and I still really enjoy both OMD 1 and 2. New traps and maps are fun, but it is really similar to the first game.

Let's be realistic... I'd threaten to stop buying games until I've played every game I own. Then I'd be able to pick up all those games I missed in the intervening years super cheap and the cycle would renew.

So what are some of the opinions on Dark Souls... I read the the port is horrible.
You are partially correct.

First off, BUY IT.

Had Demons Souls at release and same with Dark Souls and then again for the Prepare to Die Edition on the PC.

The game is an absolute masterpiece in so many ways.

Just be sure to patch it with this and you will be fine. I have never had any issues running the game and it looks even better than the console counterpart if you have he hardware for it. The DS Fix fixes nearly everything wrong with the port and makes it near perfect.

Do not let the shoddy port job of the Devs detour you from experiencing this amazing game!

How can I get a booster pack?
Once you have received all of your card drops, you become eligible for a booster pack, which is a set of 3 trading cards that may include both basic and foil cards. Booster packs are granted randomly to eligible users as more badges are crafted by members of the community. Make sure you log in to Steam each week to maintain eligibility.

source: http://steamcommunity.com/tradingcards/faq

I doubt the foil rate increases, but if the booster pack drop increases thus does the chance of getting a foil.

On a slightly related note, I really wish the Badges section of our account listed all the games which have trading card support in our library. I noticed yesterday when doing a trade that Brutal Legend didn't even show up until I had a card in my inventory. Makes me wonder if there's anything else hiding; cross-checking is going to be a pain in the ass with a large library.
Edit: I just noticed Trine 2 is MIA as well.
Edit2: ...and Half-Life 2, Portal 2, FTL, Super Meat Boy...wtf!

I'll pass on it for now then. While the orignal is fun I can never really play for long peroids of time and I don't really have that urge or desire to go back and play it again right away.

Nah, what Idiot said is why I was interested in a GBA SP.. the GB catalog (and checkout out the GBA catalog)... I've never tried a GB/GBA emulator... but I just feel that misses the whole holding it in your face part of the experience... I'd be better off EMUing that on my n900 with my hard rubber controller overlay on my sliding keyboard than on a 'puter... but imo, the real experience in on the real hardware... and well, handhelds are just easier to keep and resurrect.
Yeah... never was a fan of GB/GBC/GBA/DS emulators.

Won't be surprised at all if Walking Dead wins it's fantastic! :)

I can't believe I'm even considering Defiance, just have to keep reminding myself it will most likely be dead within the year.
The show is already cleared for a second season and (although many people will chime in here saying the show sucks) is getting pretty solid reviews. I love the show and the game, not a bad buy at all.

This person must be getting spammed with Booster Packs left & right.
Not necessarily, they'd just have a 220% increase in their chances. Assuming the chance of a booster is relatively small (let's say base chance of 1% to get a booster pack in a day) they would only have roughly a 3% chance to get a booster pack that day.

Based on the amount of badges and their current card value, I personally can't imagine it being (financially) worth the investment.

publishers don't give a shit about card money and mind tricks, they just want to maximize sales.
Not necessarily completely true. A portion of all card sales for a game go towards the developer, which is likely partly going towards the publisher too (and if the game is self-published, like Castle Crashers...). If you think Valve is the only one with motives in the card game, I think you're off base.

The show is already cleared for a second season and (although many people will chime in here saying the show sucks) is getting pretty solid reviews. I love the show and the game, not a bad buy at all.
Hopefully the game will go on sale again either through Steam, or through Amazon(Amazon more than likely is my guess) i'll pick it up then to try it out. figure as long as the show is on the game has to be on then.

How is War of the Roses: Kingmaker? Might try and get that at the 4-pack price. Also, is Tropico 4 worth buying if I bought Tropico 3 and never played it?
WotR is quite good (and the MP is not dead, it's just not as wildly active as Chivalry, which is a bit sad since WotR is hands down the better game). Here's a review/comparison between WotR, Chivalry, and Warband that I posted before:

Oh well, saves me money.

Already have Warband, but it's in the backlog, so I'll skip War of the Roses.
If you read the link I posted above, you'll see that the three games are quite different.

So what are some of the opinions on Dark Souls... I read the the port is horrible.
Here's a guide I posted to get Dark Souls running sexily:

How can I get a booster pack?
Once you have received all of your card drops, you become eligible for a booster pack, which is a set of 3 trading cards that may include both basic and foil cards. Booster packs are granted randomly to eligible users as more badges are crafted by members of the community. Make sure you log in to Steam each week to maintain eligibility.

I doubt the foil rate increases, but if the booster pack drop increases thus does the chance of getting a foil.

Does it though? Is the foil drop rate likely not even across the board? So if you have a 1% chance at a foil, you'd have to get like 33 booster packs to get a foil. Even if the booster drop rate is tripled or quadrupled, you'd probably have to wait months before getting 33 boosters. I guess technically it does increase, but the increase is likely minimal.

That's like magic find % in D3, you have highest MF possible, but the drop rate is still crap.

I am thinking of selling the $0.2 cards to get $0.05 cards to craft. Can you even craft badges for games that you don't have?
