To be fair, caaardz and badges are completely worthless right now. They shouldn't have taken it out of beta until they had some use for them aside from pimping out your Steam profile and crafting for coupons that can't be used in conjunction with other sales, both of which are realistically meaningless. The market was bound to fail given that users inexperienced with marketing strategy and/or currency translation affix arbitrary values to products that can only be sold for GabeN$, a virtual currency exclusive to Steam that doesn't convert to real money. And foils are the most pointless of all, their appeal only stemming from a niche social status.

I have two Ugly Baby foils, and one of them is the cheapest out of the six listed, beating the highest priced by $24. Nobody buys it because there's no point; the game itself is cheaper than the foil, and foil crafting is the same as regular crafting. You should get a game for foil crafting, and that should've been implemented before cards were released to the public.

Missed the $7.50 Dark Souls deal on amazon in May (went out of stock on 2d day) and been watching it ever since. It's $10ish on GG. We thinking it will hit $7.50 again for the summer sale? It's never been that low on Steam.

If you can find someone with the 20% gamersgate discount it would be about $8 not counting the blue coins.

i dont mean to exaggerate but rogue legacy is the greatest indie game of the past 75 years
I watched the GB quick look the other day, and I am very intrigued by it. The non-gameplay stuff (playing as random heirs, building the area outside to level up, able to lock down a castle config so it doesn't regenerate) sounds awfully fun. The question for me is is the actual gameplay fun enough to keep someone playing? I haven't played games like Spelunky or La-Mulana so I have no base of comparison. If it goes on sale soon I'll probably grab it.

check out the demo

it's a pretty damn long demo

I agree... they have done a surprisingly poor job of making levels desirable.

On one hand you have a group of colored pixels on a profile no one sees, and on the other you have free Steam money. Which do you think people are going to pick? If the intent is to, down the line, have some sort of tangible perk (greater discounts? exclusive deals?) for higher Steam levels then they should have said that from the outset so that people actually cared.

The other thing they've done poorly is explaining why in the world you'd want a foil card. I'm still not certain I'm entirely clear about it and can't find anything on Steam to explain what makes it so great. If I craft a foil badge am I then locked out of gaining higher levels for the original badge? Does it sit in my profile alongside it? Override it? Why??

They're going to have to put some real value behind these badges or their "economy" is going to be a beggar's market instead of Wall Street.

If you bought X-Com Enemy Unknown, you now have a Mac version too. I don't know if you can activate the original Mac App port on Steam, though it might be worth looking into.

Also, I'm having a BLAST with Serious Sam 3. This game is awesome, too bad it gives me serious motion sickness. (Yuk yuk yuk.)

FYI - the foil badges are entirely separate from the regular badges. I believe you can only craft a foil badge once for each game, but I'm not entirely sure.

See this profile for examples.

Beyond netting you a further 100xp (and possibly "bragging rights") I really don't see the point either.

Yes. The gameplay is good. I'll wait for a good sale (CAG spirit), but it's a good game. I didn't like the "character control" too much, but maybe it's because I just played about 20 minutes. If I had stopped playing Terraria after my first (and second, and third) frustration, I wouldn't discovered one of the best games I ever played.

I don't want to continue trying the demo, because I know I'll end buying the game at full price

Also, you should play La-Mulana

Endless Space now has cards.. didn't see any announcement.
Cards for Endless Space were released a few hours ago pretty much unannounced. It made me wonder if Valve is trying something a little different - letting users discover this on their own and preventing rapid market deflation.

Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards: Reloaded has now been released on Steam after being greenlit.

Am I the only one disappointed that Steam keys will not be provided to Groupees "Build a Greenlight" bundle buyers?  I thought that was the point of "Build a Greenlight" (buy now, get Steam keys later), but they've since changed the title on Groupees to "Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of The Lounge Lizards - 1991 VGA Remake" and have confirmed there will be no Steam keys.

Also - Idiotekque - WHY????

It was pretty clear that the original Leisure Suit Larry was just a bonus.. they were never gonna give the reloaded version if it got greenlit. We'll get Fester Mudd on Steam if it gets greenlit. It was always intended to be that way, but some people got confused.

Well, $40 in the bank and another $23.39 in the steam wallet from selling cardzz and I'm as prepped as I'm going to get for the Summer Sale. I'm anything but market savvy, so nearly everything I sold was ~$0.20-0.50 a pop because market battling just isn't my thing. Just get the shi!t out of my inventory and give me something I can make use of.

Considering I spend 90% of my time in front of the computer you'd think I'd take advantage of the "buy low, sell high" opportunity cardz present - especially being disabled and on a fixed income - but, meh, I suppose I'm okay being a (selectively) irresponsible compulsive buyer. Anything left in a bundle I pick up that doesn't interest me goes on the trade forum. That said, I'm pretty sure I've purchased FAR more games I'd never heard of or planned on buying in the last two months than I ever should have (here's looking at you, Trauma and the "Deluxe" version of Fallout New Vegas that didn't even activate over my old GOTY edition).

Hopefully I'll actually win something decent from steamgifts in the near future-- 1,360 entries and one win is slightly getting on my nerves, especially when I find myself waking up every hour and a half to check for anything new from my phone.

What was wrong with the zombies?
I hate the concept of zombies in practically every usage. It's rare that I'll even play a game with zombies in it.

Nothing is probably wrong with them if you enjoy zombies crammed into everything, but if someone is like me, know that you can still have hours of fun before the zombies show up.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, the best emoticon on the steam market. Spaceduck.

It will be mine.

Once it hits a reasonable price. I may be stupid, but I'm not crazy.

That's not even in contention.

The second best emoticon on the market? Why it's none other than the vibrator emoticon.
Is it sad that for $0.21 I kinda want to buy that just to post it on all of my friend's status updates?

Anyone used SteamCardExchange yet?  Looks like an interesting premise at least for those that are trying to complete badges for a game and getting duplicate cards.

"Not yet ready for primetime" it seems, as they charge a premium price on the trade if it's their last card in the bot's inventory.  For items they have multiples of though, it seems to be a 1:1 trade ratio.

So what is it exactly about zombies that make you not like them so much? I know they are all the rage right now, but I've just never understood the dislike some people have towards them. I guess I've just never met a type of game enemy that has made me dislike a game just for being that type of character.

Huh, interesting idea. Could there be any legal issues which could arise from such a service?

I doubt it. Legally speaking we're talking about the Steam TOS. The only thing close to covering this basically says "Don't use bots to manipulate the marketplace." Which, obviously, they don't enforce very well.

Either way, I doubt there are any legal issues - you're just trading Steam cards with another user. In this case, it's a bot.

I didn't even realize the TOS mentioned bots. Yeah, they seem to only enforce it if you do it extensively to buy/resell items for higher prices. You will get banned if you do it too much though, see here:

http://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/1e03tn/iama_steam_market_bot_writer_who_recently_got/

Note: This has nothing to do with the card trading bot that jshackles was talking about.

I really don't see any point on using this trade site when you have other established ones like TF2outpost.com

parker bros refused to bow to EAs draconian DRM policies in 1935, cementing their legacy as indie bros
Monopoly is actually a tale of future rights-management dystopia; you play as members of the Illuminati, tightening your grip over the masses with out-of-control pricing and ever-more-invasive EULAs.

Clue was originally spelled C'lu; you were supposed to explore an old New England mansion, trying to piece together the incantation that would open a mysterious free-standing door, through which could be heard gurgling noises and wordless chanting.

Then there's Sorry, which spun a tale of zombie survival horror long before George Romero was a twinkling in his parents' eyes...
