Well, looks like I should have jumped in on the cards thing a bit sooner, but still.. I have @ $3 more in my steam wallet than I did yesterday.. so it's all good.

Is there anyplace that lists how many cards you can get from each game? I have tripletown idling with HL2 right now and I don't know if I've already hit the maximum.
http://steamcommunity.com/id/gtbrigs/badges

Replace my username with your steam id. It will show you how many card drops you have left for each game. Or in the steam client, you can hover over your username tab and click on badges.
Thanks for this, I didn't know. (Turns out I still have one more Cubemen 2 drop too.) But why don't Portal 2 and L4D2 show up?

Edit: I see them on yours, but they don't show up on mine for some reason...

if you sell all your cards, the badge in progress disappears.

Strike Suit Infinity costs £2.49

Five cards for the set, meaning you'll get three drops, with card prices ranging from 49p to 80 at the moment (averaging 64p-ish).

3 x 64p = £1.92

You won't break even on this purchase if you're buying solely for cards, but it shouldn't cost you that much either; plus there's always the chance of a foil card drop.

That said, I don't know if we've seen a market correction yet in light of today's sale, has anybody spotted Louis Winthorpe III?

(p.s. I note that it's around 10% cheaper in the US, you still won't break even but it's not far off)

So don't bite my head off if this is old (please?), but BundleStars put up a new bundle:

The Indie Adventure Bundle - $2.98

  • Captain Morgane (GamersGate key)
  • Jack Orlando DC (GamersGate key)
  • Reversion Double Pack (GamersGate key)
  • Shadows on the Vatican I (Desura key)
  • Jack Orlando Soundtrack (GamersGate key)
Doesn't seem to high, but I don't know if you get Steam keys from GamersGate (I'm guessing no).

The badge progress screen and when it's on your profile is wonky right now.   You can access them directly to see remaining card drops even if you've sold all your cards by going to a specific link and the app-id - but I fail to recall what that link is, just replace the app-id on your other badge progress screens and you can see games that have disappeared (despite sometimes having card drops left).

The problem with your logic AK, is that Strike Suit Zero doesn't have Caaaaarrrrrddddzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. You gotta get Strike Suit Infinity if you want Caaaarrrrddddzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Luckily Steam has that on sale today too.
I bought SSZ from Amazon assuming it was the card-able game. Imagine my surprise when - ho ho ho - no drops!

I'm sure that you're not the first person to make that mistake. I don't know why they would have done the card thing for the lesser known, cheaper game. Unless of course, the goal was to trick people and make them buy each game.

Because it was the lesser known, cheaper game and they wanted to move copies. Excluding Valve I don't think we've seen any AAA/big publisher cards yet. And even the indies have been somewhat obscure.

Edit: Okay, Borderlands 2 is the other AAA card set aside from Valve stuff.

Yeah but Gearbox has a really good relationship with both Valve and Telltale.  I'd expect cards from Telltale games in the near future.

lawl Strike Suit Zero - $10 (50% off) daily

Go Amazon!

(though SSZ & DLC was 66% off for last week's GG mid-week)
I bit on the daily for SSI. Reviews seem to make it out to be the better game anyway and I'll come out of it only paying about $1. I tend to like action games like that and I don't have many arcade flight games.

What I'm really hooked on now though is Defender's Quest. I've already put in 5 hours on the game and I'm looking forward to playing it again. I can thank Cardz for bringing it to the front of my backlog and putting it on my playlist.

I ended up listing all my Really Big Sky and Faerie Solitaire cards. I've sold one FS card and two RBS cards, and now have two bucks in my wallet. Not bad for a game that screwed me over with cards and a horribly broken shootem up.

For reference I ended up hating what I played of SSI (I had it from some previous sale somewhere).  I couldn't get into the controls, and I continued to die horribly.  It's probably because I haven't played a 3D space shooter in years.

I post frequently what I don't like.   So for reference there are games I do like.  I'm loving the shit out of some Dark Souls right now - except for the fact that I'm pretty sure it's single-handedly fuxorzed my LB button on my X360 wireless pad.

Any card games that were in bundles that one may have missed? Off the top of your head?

ARES cards seem like the lowest priced ones I've seen yet. Maybe if I had done it earlier.
As far as games from bundles in the card thing, Really Big Sky is one. You probably already know about that one though. ARES as well. But again, you probably already know about that. Unless you count Faerie Solitaire, which was given away for free on a couple of occasions, that's about it.

As for the sale price of the ARES cards. They look to be about $0.05 cheaper than I managed to sell my copies at yesterday when I sold my cards. I sold them all within the first 90 minutes that the cards were available. So I wouldn't beat yourself up over missing out because you waited to do those. The prices collapsed almost immediately.

So I decided to gamble and bought They Bleed Pixels. It's a game I've been wanting to play for awhile. Plus with the cards (OMG the CARDS!) and the $3.39 sale price on Amazon my will was weakened and I was left defenseless.

But wait, the story has a somewhat happy ending. No, no, I didn't get any foils. However I ended up selling all four cards for a total of $2.83 earlier this morning, making the game essentially cost $0.56 in the end. I'm happy with that.

The same thing has happened with Strike Suit Infinity ($0.68) and Zack Zero ($0.34) after buying from GMG and selling off the cards. If anything I love these new cards for the pure aspect of ending up with bundle-like prices on some decent games. I'm sure I'm not the only one right?

They Bleed Pixels cards are still selling at a good level to come out getting close to 80% of it's price back depending on the cards you get. So not bad really.

Bah, still no foils.  I hope I end up liking SSI...I am a sucker for buying these cheap games with card drops.  Well, Triple Town was much better than expected.  And FTL is as great as everyone said, and I got it for cheaper than it's ever been after selling off the cards.

Many thanks The End for your great reply.

Just a note to everyone. The Secret World is having a double XP weekend. I'm making some great progress. You also get a free pair of black buckle boots too.

Love TSW's writing, setting, and the music is very good. Making my way through Blue Mountain. Funcom's MMO is such a breath of fresh air.

~~I've been pricing my cards .30-.40-.50 above the min and just waiting a day or two. Trying to help out other sellers by not selling .10 cards.

The black boots are quite sexy, I must say.

Also, it should be noted that it's not exactly a double XP weekend. Each day you login, you can claim a potion that you can use for an 8 hour 100% XP boost.

Nice, since you don't HAVE to play this weekend, you just need to login then you can use the boost later, on your time.

Actually it's pretty good if you like this genre. The only downside is that Reversion and Shadows on the Vatican have been bundled before (the latter several times--I guess the devs are still trying to raise $ for Chapter II).

And Gamersgate only gives Steam keys for Steamworks games.

Sold my 4 They Bleed Pixels cards for $3.21. Not bad, would have made a profit if I didn't sell one of the Squidy Thing cards yesterday.

Here's the *crazy* thing... CAGs are eying SSZ in the Amazon bundles because they're interested in playing (or backlogging) it... even though it doesn't have cardz. Here's to the Crazy Ones! :applause:

^_^ I was thinking of looking into SSI this evening.

I bit on it. The game is difficult and confusing at first, but after a while it is fun... difficult, but VERY fun. I'm a Macross fan, and this game reminds me a bit of it (the combat). I don't know, maybe it's because I wanted a good Macross game since... forever... but I recommend this game, maybe an 8/10 score

Too bad the cards are so good I don't want to sell them

So is Strike Suit Zero just an updated Strike Suit Infinity?
As I know, Strike Suit Infinity is newer. It doesn't have a plot, it's just waves, levels, upgrades and such, but according to the reviews, SSI gameplay is an improved version of SSZ...

So, SSI is a reduced but improved version of SSZ, like a standalone DLC. (some say SSZ gameplay is not too good and the plot is mediocre).

I will be logging in each day. I got the email the other day and hoping this double XP will work to level me up quickly.
I don't know how you like to play MMOs but I can run you through whatever dungeons for gear, tearing ass through dungeons, killing monsters and getting gear is the fastest way to get xp. Gear up and blow through the story quests later.

Honestly, if you're blowing through missions in TSW, you're playing it wrong. Every MMO has dungeons and raids and stuff that forces you to party up and kill shit. TSW is amazing because its superb storytelling, mystery behind the lore, voice acting, etc.

Basically, if you want my advice on how to play TSW, play through the missions alone or with a friend when the missions are around your skill level. Riding on the coattails of high level characters as they pull you through dungeons, get you loads of XP, and powerful equipment just kills the overall experience.

You still get the story, you just don't have struggle. I don't see how struggling with quests because you're undergeared ruins the story. Run dungeons, get gear do your story quests. The items you get from doing quests are total shit, break them down or sell them.

Following up on my Rocksmith post yesterday, there's a nice discussion regarding the PC version on slickdeals here.  Apparently my concern about long load times has been addressed, and there's a great active DLC mod community as well.  I'm definitely picking it up as soon as it hits $7.50.  Fingers crossed for the summer sale!

Natural progression of the story (without having high level players take you through dungeons where you do nothing in) provides a challenge, gives you the story at a steady pace, and make the quest and dungeon gear worthwhile to your specific level.

Flying through things and having high leveled characters carry you and level you up makes all the rewards you get crap for your level, so you just have to buy everything off the market.

To each their own, of course, but I like to go through games at a steady pace, following the level structure that makes the combat worthwhile and satisfying (many MMOs make it too easy to overlevel and blow through things with no effort). Getting free equipment and XP just feels like you're dumbing down and quickening a deep, satisfying experience. TSW is all about the story, sure, but it's also a very challenging, balanced, satisfying game as far as gameplay goes.

It's an RPG. I've not seen one single RPG that was a balanced, deep experience that deserved to be not cheesed through.

And Strike Suit Zero was really boring. It was like a duller Wing Commander where every single mission was just slow-paced flying and capital ship defense.

You'd think Infinity would fix that being the same game turned arcade mode but nope the combat itself is just kinda uninteresting too.

Your mileage may vary though, I may just not be a fan of this genre but I DO think SSZ wasted far too much of my time

So I noticed some people on the Go Home Dinosaurs Steam discussion offering 30% off coupons for stuff as trivial as a background or emoticon.  Traded some guy the Trine 2 background I bought for ten cents, bought the game for $7 and sold the four cards (no foils, boo) for around $8 and some change.  If I were a bit more patient I might have made another buck but I was content with a free game, a GabeN buck, and four (albeit failed) chances at a foil.  Most of the cards sell for over $2 (keep in mind putting something up for $2 will bring it to $2.25 in fees) some even approaching $3.  I'd say it's somewhat of a safe bet to break even at this point if you make use of the coupon.

As far as the game itself it's basically a different iteration of Plants vs. Zombies but in 3D and narrower paths.  Pretty entertaining if you like casual tower defense games.

We should put a list of games that have cards on the third post on the first page, I don't see anywhere on steam that shows a list games that have the trading cards and games.

You still get the story, you just don't have struggle. I don't see how struggling with quests because you're undergeared ruins the story. Run dungeons, get gear do your story quests. The items you get from doing quests are total shit, break them down or sell them.

Lol, ok. I did about every quest in every zone and I wished I didn't have to group up with a PUG of 4 shitty players that didn't understand game mechanics when I did dungeons. Thankfully before you get into nightmare dungeons there is a retard block that keeps derps in their QL 9 greens out.

I've been gone a few days. I see Trine 2 now has cards. And Strike Suit Infinity? What else?
Y'know the announcements on this page say exactly what games have had cards added.
Nice. Thanks! I figured out some of the other games while I was waiting for a reply. Installed my copy of 1,2,3 and am playing Trine 2 now. Been wanting to play this game anyway. Now's the excuse!
