My budget was 0 until the cardz thing.  I think I had around $50 in my SW for the winter sale but ended up converting most of that to paypal hosting some group buys and then selling off my regretted purchases from my inventory.  I honestly don't expect to buy much.  I updated my wishlist with any game even remotely interesting to me, but the only games I definitely would purchase are Sang-Froid, I Am Alive, and Reus at 75% off.  I'm interested in Don't Starve and Gunpoint too and might consider them, but if I get the other three I might hold off since something is going to get bundled and I won't have time to play them all before then.

Anyone know if buying the "Dungeonland Collection" gives you ALL of the in-game DLC? Apparently there's DLC that you can buy in-game but not on Steam. I know the collection gives you some of the DLC, but not sure if it gives all of it..

I used to spend more but pretty much all the stuff Fox mentioned I've relegated to Bundle status.

Pretty much. The only one I don't expect bundled is I Am Alive because it is Ubisoft. I might even pass on Reus. Sang Froid will be bundled eventually, but I have been really wanting to play that one.

The only way to get all the DLC is:

Indie Gala September

My wishlist is actually fairly short (the real wishlist items) and the only major items that I can expect a decent discount on is Skyram DLC and Dishonoured DLC.  The rest are totally unrealistic for a sufficient discount (e.g. GRID 2 & MotoGP 13) or too new/high profile to be discounted enough for me (e.g. Tome Reader & Bioschlock Infinite).  Then there's the games who's MSRP is too damn high for their age (e.g. Mafia ][ and Snajper 3lite).  I've also got some mighty fine games in my "play this next" list, so I can wait for discounts.  Also, I'm looking forward to seeing what GG does with their Summer Sale (last year it was all of August), since I'm a 20%er.

I bought Sang-Froid when it was on sale for 50% just because I'd been waiting on it and wanted to give at least a little support to the devs.

Only played the intro missions and they've been fun (if simple since it's the intros) but I have to say that the voice acting is hilariously bad.  Doesn't affect the actual game but, man, it's best to just go into it ready to laugh.

I've no idea what my budget is.  There's not much I can think of that I'm waiting to see go on sale so I'll probably not spend a whole lot.

Like Asheskitty, I'm probably more interested to see what GamersGate puts on sale since I'm part of the 20% club.

So within the game's store, there's DLC that you can buy with real money and DLC that you can buy with in-game currency. From browsing through each of the store tabs, it looks like buying the Collection has given me all of the real money content, and some of the in-game content.

Having said that, this is a Paradox game, so for how long this remains a "Complete Collection" is anyone's guess.

Fully expect Dungeonland and Impire to be in a not-so-distant future Indie Gala as multiple Paradox games that flop have ended up in them.

Anyone played that? Free mod to HL2 or something?
It's supposed to be quite good, but not for the faint of heart if you can't handle jump scares (pretty much the opposite of Amnesia). HL1 mod IIRC though, not HL2.

I tried installing the mod via Desura once, but must have done something wrong because it didn't work. This was on Greenlight, so it's nice to see it's standalone now!

What I would love to happen in the upcoming sale is for EA to get their heads out of their asses and drop the first two DeathSpank games to $10 MSRP, offer a collection of all three and make it 75% off. Would also love it if World in Conflict would get a 75% off sale. I can't count how many seasonal sales have come and gone without those two games getting a decent sale. DeathSpank's discount is always 50% ($7.50) and it's been like that for at least 2-3 years now. World in Conflict got up to 66% off in an Ubisoft weekend IIRC, but I'm still waiting for that sweet 75% off. Also, The Haunted: Hell's Reach needs to get a price drop already. It's been one and a half years. Drop the price, put it in a bundle and get one last big payout.

On the more realistic side, I'm hoping for 75% deals on Sleeping Dogs, The Witcher 2, CS:GO, Dust: Elysian Tale, Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, Monaco and a bunch of DLC. Won't really mind if there's a better deal on Amazon/GMG/GG since I've got a bunch of Gaben bucks to spend.

I don't care about the games, I'm sure it will be usual mega sale shannigans. I just hope there is some fun metagame to play. Like sumnmer tickets awhile back, or the winter coal event.

Van Helsing is on my "waiting for" list, I'm not hopeful since it's quite new (and I still have some TL2 and all of D3 to feed my Diablo-like cravings) ...as well as Titan Quest and Scared 1&2 (>.> okay, so I'm a little behind). I think I could bit on Van Helsing at 66% off, but 50% is more iffy.

I'm hoping for sales on a greater diversity of games than recent steam sales.

This x 10000. It's been three years. You'd think they'd give Deathspank a 75% off sale by now. Funny thing is it isn't even sold on Origin so, to my knowledge, Steam is literally the only place you can get it on PC. Of course, if you don't see it with a 75% off on the first day as part of the base deals you can pretty much forget about it taking up a daily spot.

WHat's everyone's summer sale budget?
I don't set a budget, but I do have pretty tight rules about what I will buy at this point. Between sales I wishlist items and then wait to see if those go on sale for at least 75% off. Newer games that will immediately be played are okay at 66% or more.

Paradox published games have taken a nose dive in recent years.  They used to put out some good stuff but the vast majority of the last several titles have been crap.  I enjoyed Warlock but it felt extremely unpolished and lacked a decent AI and others features that made the game more shallow than it should have been.  Still looking forward to Warband 2 -- might even Day One Purchase that mofo.

I remember Tony giving away free Warband keys during one of the Christmas promos and the price has dipped to the point where it's $5 standard during most major sales.  Probably  won't see it in a bundle until shortly before Warband 2 comes out.  That said, it's well worth the $5 and I don't say that a lot.

EDIT: Something was here. Now it's gone becuase I'm an idiot. So I'm gonna start a new topic.

WHat's everyone's summer sale budget?
Budgets? We ain't got no budgets. We don't need no budgets! I don't have to show you any stinkin' budgets!

The proper version [explicit language]:
Budgets, to god-damned hell with budgets! We have no budgets. In fact, we don't need budgets. I don't have to show you any stinking budgets, you god-damned cabrón and chinga tu madre!
Whoa now, I happen to be a huge fan of You Need A Budget. Total of 80 hours logged on that bad ride.

well for all it's features it's gained recently, am I the only one annoyed there still isn't an option to specifically NOT recommend something? I think most people would find it more useful to know the games their friends didn't enjoy, so they can't save their time and money. Then again, maybe that is part of the reason they don't exist. Valve wants us to continue blind buying everything :whee:
This can't be much of a shock really. Valve is still a store. They're happy letting you do stuff that promotes selling a game but they're obviously not going to put up stuff to help you discourage people from buying stuff :)

I mean... They put the metacritic score up.

I'm totally lost. Does anybody have a Dungeonland group going? I'm totally in becauseeverybodyboughtitalreadyandIfeelleftout.

PM me please chaps!

Also, the Rourke Warrior credits are the best thing about the game, which is pretty tough going as the entire 3¾ hours of gameplay is a f***ing masterpiece.
What's better - Rourke Warrior or Aliens: CM? :p

I don't know about budgets.

But, my rule: anything to add to the backlog = 75% off or better.

Anything ASAP = whatever. I don't have much of a rule for things I want to play now/ASAP.

I usually am not an ASAP kind of guy here.

I'm a backlog kind of guy.

You know, you don't HAVE to use the recommend a game to your friends feature to just recommend it. People on my friends list use it all the time to express their dislike for games all the time. Just rename the "Recommend by your friends" to "What your friends think" on a game's store page.

Van Helsing is definitely worth playing. I'm almost done with it. I play it on and off since I'm playing it on the hardest difficulty. The characters are very likable and have comical dialogue. You can experiment as much as you want with ur characters stats and skill tree, as well as Katarina's (your npc follower), since you can respec by spending gold. It isnt too expensive to respec either. You get plenty of gold. Combat feels great, but in harder difficulties, you will need to kite around a bit. I was using a full tank spec at first and I STILL had to kite around a bit. But its not too bad. Standing still and autoattacking is boring anyway. Reviews had only good things to say about the game. I think the only negative I saw was about the multiplayer being buggy. I havent even tried the mp, so I dont care about that.

Well, I've been enjoying Pinball FX2's first free table, Sorcerer's Lair. It's not a pinball sim... the physics don't quite match physical pinball... but they seem to have made a comfortable video-pinball physics set. I'm hoping to see some discount on their tables on the sale (33% seems realistic)

It looks pretty and the system requirements are quite low. It even plays okay in 16:10 or even 16:9 widescreen, but I like it best flipping my 24" IPS into portrait (damn it looks weird like that). I tried flipping my cheap Dell ULV i3 (Ivy Brige) laptop vertically but the TN screen looked terrible in portrait. The game default is no AA (and it shows lesser jaggies but not too bad), flipping on 4x MSAA cleaned it up (on my GTX 660).

It runs quite well on an HD 4000 with AA off, I'm able to drive 55-60 FPS @ 1920x1200 (well 1200x1920... portrait mode). It didn't give me AA settings on the HD 4000, so I tried tossing SweetFX (for SMAA) on but that almost halved my frame rate.... not enough Shader power, Still the no-AA jaggies aren't bad (probably because it's mostly static, no creepers or the like).

Thanks for that! I think I'm moving it up on my buy list.

what was the cheapest skyram has been? $24?
Best value has been the GG Beth Pack @ $30... however at this point the complete version is out, so if you don't own the base game.. I'd probably focus on that.
I remember in that ULTRA-rare TRU PC games blowout around last early October 2012, Skyram retail box was $10.

Oh, and so was D3, MW3, Starcraft 2: WOL, Batman: AC, some Sims 3 games, and a bunch of others.

@Ashes

Thanks for trashing my score on Sorcerer's Lair on Pinball FX 2. :(
YW, anytime! ^_^
Don't worry - I'm gonna keep trying to top your 100M score. :p

Ah right slipped my mind... also $10 on the MS $tore (for an hour or two) around Thanksgiving... I remember I missed that but managed to grab Diablo 3 for $10 then... once the Beth Pack rolled around I was happy/content that I missed Skyram @ $10.

I forgot about those M$ Store sales.

I remember TSW retail box & SWTOR was $10 during one of those sale, but they were sold-out when I hit the site. :(

EDIT:

Damn GG and their BethSoft (Mistake) Sale. That site was so hammered, I could hardly connect to buy it. :(

Be sure to grab my achievements while you're at it. ^_~ (0.15% baby!)

Yeah, the GG one took persistence but totally worth it. Yeah I though of trying to pickup more on the MS sale but if anything, I just wanted to secure my $10 Diablo 3 (esp given Blizzard's <lack of> sales). I can't remember it was SWTOR was OOS and I toldmyself into sour grapes or it was in stock and I talked myself out of it.

Beth Pack night was interesting... esp for people without GG accounts.. I was really surprised by how many CAGs I'd consider regulars who had never bought anything from GG before.

@Ashes

I ain't got the spiders achievement yet. :p

Rub it in, why don't you - that you got one more achievement than I do! :p

And bleh @ SWTOR, TSW, and all those good deals that sold out on M$ Store online deals. :(

IIRC, even SWTOR Collector's Ed was on sale, too. :(

You can still buy a new copy of SWTOR for $10 on eBay, which gives you a month of subscription for $5 less than subscribing normally. Only works once, of course.

I'm having this impression that steam will slowly come out with summer sales rather have a huge event.  Especially since last year their sale came out later than usual.

Looks like Dishonored sold out from Get Loaded. I dunno what else to pick to go with my copy of brink. :whee:
>.> Without Dishonored the "deal" is dead. We're also right ahead of the summer sales, so there'll be more opportunities soon.

It will be a "big event". Regular CAGs may moan about the about the sale prices but it will be a big event.

For the past few sales, I've been the first CAG to declare that the sale blows. Usually within the first 90 seconds.

I plan to keep that tradition alive for the 2013 summer sale. Might even preemptively declare that the sale is a flop.

If the sale prices aren't good, is it really a big event? #CAGPhilosophicalMusings

Why do I get the impression that most of the people giving Brink hate haven't even played it? Must have been blasted by the totally definitive voice of the people folks at giantbomb or RPS. I thought it was a solid team based shooter with some cool concepts.
