I'm still annoyed I didn't pick up Brother in Arms pack 2 years ago for ~8.75 ish or something, and it hasn't been on a similar sale since then. 2 Years!  Et Tu Ubisoft!?!

I think the little checkmark to the right of the username is the like button on mobile.

Bought Strike Suit Infinity with a 50% off coupon thanks to Bort_, and ended up paying 83 cents total after selling cards which isn't bad at all. The cards retained their value pretty well considering cards just came out of beta..

Anyway, something weird happened for my last 2 cards, which were Raptors.. some guy was repeatedly buying and relisting Raptor cards, and not for profit. Last night he had 7 listed, overnight he bought my cards for 97 cents each and relisted them for around $1.10. Now he has 11 of them listed. I guess he's trying to control the market for that specific card? I didn't think people really did that, but that seems to be the case..

You can see it here:

I've seen it with several games in the beta already where one card simply got monopolized

Really Big Sky and Zombie Driver HD I think they were. I just ignored them till the price dropped on new cards.

DLC for said game is absurd. ALL of the DLC is just meaningless alternate costumes for your shitty characters that play the same. On disc versions, they're actually on the disc and you have to pay to unlock them (i.e. you own a disc you don't actually own unless you pay more). Capcom does this all the time now, and I loathe them for it.

there is also the option in Tapatalk, which IMO is the only way to go for CAG on mobile ;)
I like Tapatalk on my Google NSAus 7, but it's not an option for people who actually run Linux on their phone.

I wish we could report those guys somewhere. Flag them for suspicious activity or something.
Free unregulated markets!

(I'm not trying to make any statement here, just pointed the above out.)

if you look the less cards in a game the higher the value. Strike suit , jagged alliance and zombie driver have higher than average card prices. Some of these games also have smaller install bases so the number of cards that people get and the value of the remaining are higher.

I think buying up all of one card is awesome and I'm curious to see if prices can actually be manipulated in that way.  It's very creative thinking and it should be rewarded (as long as it stays to Steam cards).  AFAIK Steam is controlling the overall number of cards in circulation.  Do they release more once cards are used in crafting badges?

These are the kind of stories I like hearing about EVE Online.

Do they release more once cards are used in crafting badges?
That's what the booster packs are for. Basically they needed a way to dump more cards into the economy to account for those being crafted. Global booster pack "creation" rates are tied directly to the rate at which people craft badges - most likely at or near a 1:1 ratio.

which does bring up some intresting market issues, Say for tf2 which the cards have basically tanked and yesterday were runnning from less than 20 cents to 30 cents per card. Now i sold off a foil for company of heroes 2 made some and crafted my team fortress 2 badge up to max. I took 36 cards out of the market but if its 1 badge to one booster pack only 12 cards came back into play if anyone actually opened the packs and did not just put them on the market.....

Sorry I should have clarified when I said 1:1 ratio. I most likely isn't 1 booster pack to 1 badge - but more like 1 booster pack of three cards for every three cards crafted. Meaning they'll try to stabilize the market by adding 1 card back (via booster packs) for each 1 card consumed (via crafting).

^_^ I assumed this is what you meant. 5 badge levels exacerbate card sink issue.

Now I'm tempted to pick up the darn skins... what's wrong with me? >.>
Absolutely NOTHING!

Some people are completionists - they have to have EVERY single solitary piece of content for their games.

Especially if it's for a game they think they might love or already do love.

Ash might remember - what was price for Super SF4 Arcade Ed (Steam key) on GMG once? Was it this? Or cheaper?

I'm pretty sure I'm paid $8 for it. I can check my records.

Edit: Yep, $8 @ GMG back on 19 Jan.

^_^ Yeah... I mean honestly, both by gut feel and by steam tracking I spend the vast majority of my gaming time on a handful of games.

To showcase an alternative opinion, I'm usually a fan of cosmetic DLC, sometimes even over content DLC. If DLC adds much needed customization options to a game, as opposed to a boring extra chunk of gameplay content when the game is long enough/has enough to do already, I'll take the customization DLC first.

Just sayin'.

I bought it on it's last sale on GMG at $8 (january 18). MSRP was $40 back then. $40 - 75% - 20%

Edge of Space looks interesting. Whether the sandbox execution is any good, I don't know.

But with the 1.2 update coming for terraria and Starbound out before the end of the year, noone shall be wanting for excellent sandbox.

I've been wanting Defender's Quest since the little flash demo they did to raise money/awareness last year.  I suppose at $5 and 66% off the odds of me regretting buying it right before a big sale are probably pretty low when it's a niche game.

I bought it Monday and have put 18 hours into it this week.

It's excellent and addictive.

Highly recommend it.

I loved the proof of concept demo they did of the early stages, was just waiting for a decent sale or some bundle action. Guess I'll bite knowing it won't be this cheap again soon.

Except none of it is worth a penny. :p Download MUGEN, the best meta fighting game ever, and spend nothing forever.
MUGEN is crap and the community is filled with drama. Sub-$6 for SSF4AE is a price I'd recommend anyone interested in a PC fighting game who doesn't already own it.

Only thing is - I'm only around a PC during the time Daily Deals do change (1pm EST) on weekends b/c I work during the weekdays.
hey, don't try and weasel out now. Or maybe do, then we will have one less person to assign an animal in the CAG zoo

JK of course, thanks for posting while I was gone with family crap. Time to reset my days missed callender....

YW.

I don't mind posting stuff.

I'm not weaseling out of it; I just...ain't got PC access during the week - unless I'm on vacation or something.

Hope all is well w/ the family.

It doesn't typically consist of pseudo-3D character shading and Cammy in a catsuit (unless you want it to) but it's much better, and free. Unless you equate customization with crap and aren't capable of even programming a simple "hello world" then I don't really see a reason to debase the free game over a played-out franchise published by a money-hungry international enterprise. And who cares if "the community is filled with drama?" Any game you play online is filled with drama, including people who constantly call you shit, kill servers when they lose, and report you for something just to spite your victory. Don't associate with it and you'll be fine. =\

I rarely play on the PC and never made a steam purchase, how do they work? Can I download multiple times as long as it's on the same PC or does it vary by account?

You can download them unlimited times on your account on as many PCs as you want (unless the game is one of a few with additional DRM like securom and Tanges). You can only play logged on on one PC at a time, but I believe you can still play anything already downloaded if you use offline mode. Others will be able to give you more of an answer, but hopefully this helps :)

Welcome to Steam by the way, I believe this is the part where you say goodbye to your social life :joystick:

I rarely play on the PC and never made a steam purchase, how do they work? Can I download multiple times as long as it's on the same PC or does it vary by account?
It depends on who publishes the game. Most Steam games let you download their games unlimited times to as many PCs as you want. A select few limit your activations to a certain number of PCs, like five. It's all dependent on what the specific third-party DRM listed on the Steam store page is, and if it's bad we usually bitch about it. TAGES, SecuROM, and ACTControl all suck. Here's a list of all the DRM on Steam: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Big_List_of_3rd_Party_DRM_on_Steam

If you don't want to worry about it, http://www.gog.com/ is a DRM-free store site that gives you lots of game bonuses. The library isn't as expansive as Steam's, but they have lots of good stuff.

MUGEN is crap and the community is filled with drama. Sub-$6 for SSF4AE is a price I'd recommend anyone interested in a PC fighting game who doesn't already own it.
I paid $8 and I'm more than happy with it. I don't use to play fighting games and I'm not very good at them... but SSF4:AE is REALLY good.

I can tell you have something against Capcom. The drama I'm referring to in the MUGEN community is hard to avoid if you want to have a decent-sized roster because of how protective of their awful creations most authors are. I used to admin a site that had some MUGEN content (although it wasn't the main focus) and it's amazing how many people get upset when you try to host their character to make the engine somewhat accessible to people who just want to play and don't want to spend hours making sure everything works properly. Worse than Elder Scrolls modders.

I rarely play on the PC and never made a steam purchase, how do they work? Can I download multiple times as long as it's on the same PC or does it vary by account?
Good timing! The summer sale is just around the corner, so you can stock up on a bazillion games for about $2 a piece. I'd recommend working on your wishlist over the next couple days. Shit is going to get real.

Let me give you two pieces of advice before you dive in:

  1. Install Jshackles' Enhanced Steam plugin (it works best on Chrome, but he has Firefox and Opera versions, as well). It does everything from telling you the best historical price of games to warning you about extra DRM and install limits. It's awesome.
  2. Review my tips for Steam newbies and vets. Follow those tips and you'll save yourself a lot of money along the way.
Welcome to your new addiction.
