So, no one has mentioned that the Freedom Force: Freedom Pack is on sale for $3.74? ES/ITAD says that is cheaper than either game together has been recorded previously, though I thought I recall someone saying they were like $1 each quite some time ago. Or maybe that was just the voices in my head.
I still have them both from Retail.

Original FF was great.

For some reason - didn't really touch the sequel FFV3R much - like 1st level, then moved to something else.

Never went back, unfortunately.

That's the normal price for them during seasonal sales. Cheapest was $1.87 in July 2010, I'd love to grab it for that price but I'm not sure if we'll see it for that again..

FYI enhanced steam/ITAD are often wrong when it comes to price history, I think they don't track back that far.

I'll probably write something up once I finish it, but here are my initial impressions (@3 hours in) of Mars: War Logs.  And since I'm not exactly adept at cohesively stinging together thoughts into complete text, I'll just bullet point it.

Visuals:

  • The game doesn't necessarily look bad, but the textures are pretty rough.  And for a game that, so far, lacks a lot of scenic variety, it's pretty noticeable.
  • There must be a severe lack of digital character models in the world, cause I've seen some of the same ones repeated way too many times.
  • The FOV is terrible.  For a third person game (well any modern PC game for that matter), there is no excuse for this.  With the camera in it's natural position, your character takes up too much screen for such a narrow viewing angle.
  • The overall art design of the game is pretty good IMO.  The art pieces feel right.  If the devs hoped to convey a sci-fi frontier atmosphere, then they did a fair job.
Aural:

  • Voice acting (as in casting of proper voice actors) is questionable at best.  For a game that has any story elements to it and is moderate to heavily voice acted, choosing the right voice for each character is just as important as the lines they read.  I know this is somewhat subjective, but there have been several instances where the voice and character just plain did not mesh well.
  • The dialogue is somewhat cliche and predictable, but nothing too cringe worthy.  It's serviceable.
  • With that being said, I think the voice actors did a decent job with what they were given. The delivery of dialogue for the most part sounds relatively natural and not overly forced (I'm looking at you Binary Domain).
  • Strangely, none of the world's other sound effects have made an impression on me.  Take that for what it is.
Gameplay:

  • Combat is fairly clunky and can be repetitive, but I've seen worse.  I certainly wouldn't buy this game for the combat, but it doesn't detract much from the whole experience.  Melee combat is fleshed out more than gunplay in that projectile weapons are treated like special abilities.  There is no true aim system that I have seen yet, beyond the target lock.  Granted my arsenal is currently limited.  There is no jump, but you can dive roll/evade.  There are parry, block and guard break maneuvers as well.
  • The camera and character movement are not what I find ideal (I'm playing with a 360 controller) in that they are not bound to each other.  You move your character around the screen and move the camera angle with separate controls.  Under non-combat conditions, this is mildly annoying.  In combat scenarios, it can kind of be problematic.
  • The story element is seen in variable dialogue selection.  This is a nice touch, but being that I'm early in the game, none of the choices seemed to have any weight beyond letting me or not letting do something.  Maybe different choices will change character development further in, but I'm not getting that vibe.
  • I like the looting and upgrade mechanics, but they're relatively unexplained.  (At least Mass Effect had a codex to explain why my adept could manipulate gravity.)  While upgrading your abilities and items feels right for a game like this, the process feels a little shoehorned.
While it may seem like I'm pretty down on the game thus far, I'm really not.  If I had to use two words to describe this game, they would be ambitious and potential.  I think the games biggest failings stem from the fact that it wants to be so much more than it is.  I feel that with more resources, possibly a larger budget and more experience in the genre would have yielded an immense experience.  Comparing this game to the likes of Mass Effect is completely unfair, but almost inevitable.  So, what is it worth?  I'm a fan of sci-fi westerns (which I liken this game to), so the $5 I spent feels pretty reasonable.  For someone that is not a genre specific fan, $5 may still be a little on the high side.

Why not just get the original version on GOG? Plays really well and you can mod it to pretty much the same state that EE will be in, without the bugs and all the additional crap (at least that was the case for BG 1) and is much cheaper during sales. GOG patches it very well too.

This may be nostalgia, but BG2 is my favourite game of all time. I gave up life for 6 months playing this when it first came out.

Not that I'm gonna get it when I already have it on GOG but, unlike the first EE, the extra content is allegedly substantial.

http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/05/27/baldurs-gate-2-enhanced-edition-already-has-350000-words-of-additional-content/

Beamdog president Trent Oster has given a status update on the sequel to Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, saying that their upgrade of the classic Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn has already received multiple novels worth of added words. “We’re hard at work on BG2:EE and it is going well,” Oster toldShackNews. “Phil (our design lead) mentioned to me there is over 350,000 words of new content.”

Shit seems far-fetched.

That's the normal price for them during seasonal sales. Cheapest was $1.87 in July 2010, I'd love to grab it for that price but I'm not sure if we'll see it for that again..

I reckon it's wrong more than it's right.

I keep hoping for 75% off Freedom Force pack (yes I'm that cheap) but it seems like we don't see it again since it has long since been booted of daily/featured deal status given the amount of games Steam has added in the years since the sub $2 price.

Yay @ FREE XCOM EU Weekend.

I'mma have to check it out.
I loved XCOM, it's definitely not for everyone. If you liked games like FF tactics or Civ 4/5 I'm sure you will like this game.

Beat the game on Iron Man, on the second to last difficulty (that shit is stupidly difficult.) Hope you enjoy the game though.

Using an achievement unlocker to unlock all these leftover GFWL achievements before it gets axed. I wouldn't normally do this, but the chance of having an incomplete game on my account that can never be completed turns my OCD up to 11.

A great part about getting into PC gaming was it's really released the hold that achievements had over me. I used to be moderately obsessed with them, got as many as I could within reason (if it was going to force me to do some completely mundane task for hours on end or I really tough difficulty level I didn't want to replay, forget it). Now I feel like I can focus more on just playing the games. Although when I flip on the Xbox, I'll still try to knock out as many achievements as I can in a playthrough. I just don't go out of my way anymore.

I've never been one to care about achievements, but seeing something like 875/1000 forever on my account, unable to ever complete it or even delete it, would bring my piss to a boil.

I'd be happier if they just purge all GFWL achievement points from XBL accounts, although I could see that pissing some people off.

If I get an Achievement.

If I don't, whatever.

{shoulder shrug}

Oops, I missed the adding party. Here is my profile: http://steamcommunity.com/id/SasquatchMD/

Anyone can add me, but don't feel bad if my Defense Grid scores are higher than yours.

As for achievements, I used to hunt those things like crazy on the 360. Now that I just game on the PC, I try to get them for certain games, but I rarely worry about 100%. After 471 hours of Civ V, I have 270/287 achievements.

Asked for an add.

I don't know - I was never one to chase Achievements like crazy, for some reason. If I notice I might be close to one, I might chase it. But, yeah - I'm normally not one to 100% Achievements out in a game.

I'm always looking to "move onto the next game."

Welp, after 3 days of constant failure, I finally got to run the initial race in GTA:Online. Now THE CLOUD has me stuck in purgatory and I no longer can swap characters in single player. That's all I can stands, I can't stands no more. Time to get back to my neglected PC and add all the bundle fodder accumulated in the past couple weeks.

Retroactively adding a bunch of people from this this thread. Might be nice to get some steamfriends who play something other than Pinball FX2. That being said, if you play Pinball FX2, totally add me so I can sit at the bottom of your leaderboards.

But GTA 5 is the perfect game. Flawless. 10/10. Nothing compares. Blah blah blah. Whatever else the reviewers can garble out with Rockstar's nuts in their mouths.

I agree with what you said about the combat, dialogue, and voice acting. They did try to fix the voice acting and parts of the script, they switched out a couple of the voice actors, and now those characters have british accents lol. I can't say the voice acting is much better with the new patch.. the new accents annoy me (they seem a bit out of place). I think you're right about the game potentially being a lot better if they had a bigger budget, those were my thoughts exactly.

I didn't have any issues with the camera or FOV though, but then again I'm usually not picky about FOV. I'm not really understanding your issues with the camera, that sounds like how it'd be in any other game? Maybe I'm misunderstanding your explanation.

Stay farrr away from Mars.
It's REALLY not that bad. I think most people that are big fans of scifi RPGs should give it a try, as there aren't many modern scifi rpgs to choose from. Neuro5i5's complaints are definitely valid, but the game still has some redeeming qualities to it (such as the setting/art and atmosphere).

This reminds me - I still ain't finished Darksiders 1.

AIn't even began Darksiders 2.
I haven't actually started Darksiders 2 either. But based on the reviews it got and my overall enjoyment of Darksiders 1, I feel pretty comfortable in recommending it. I remember reading articles about it, and based on the differences in the way the two characters handle and things I actually feel pretty confident I'll enjoy DS2 more than 1. The story's actually surprisingly interesting, also, although it's got some real cheesy voice acting.

Edit: Story in first Darksiders, obviously.

Couldn't finish Darksiders 2. The platform portions of the game were too often for me to enjoy playing it in long sittings. Felt like an older Tomb Raider.
