Looking at the Indie Game Bundle Wiki I don't see that CK2 has ever been in a bundle.  Since Tony's Amazon bundles tend to be complete packages with no or worse discounts on individual items it seems that 75% off for the Old Gods DLC is a good price.  He did offer some Paradox packs with grouped DLC as filler bundles for people who had purchased previous incomplete bundles but I still don't know that OG would end up with a better discount.

To buy or not to buy.  That is always the question.

When you're done making your decision, make it for me too. Thanks.

I have enjoyed what I have played of red alert 3. It acts as if it takes itself seriously as far as the story but it is silly and somewhat amusing to watch. The gameplay is decent and the units unique if not also somewhat silly at times. It has 3 campaigns an allied, a Soviet and a Empire of Japan one. Can't comment on uprising as it still lingers in my back log.
[hangs head in shame]

I pretty much got most of the C&C series on backlog (ain't bought C&C3: Uprising or C&C4 Online).

For years since Retail, I've had C&C Saga (C+C Anniversary X & C&C3: TW) + C&C3: Kane's Wrath & C&C: RA3 Collector's Ed (that gold Tin Box - base game only) on my backlog.

[/hangs head in shame]

I ain't much on strategy games -- but given how cheap I picked most of these up when I did, I could NOT resist - in case somehow, strategy games began speaking English to me. ;)

I have to wonder how difficult it's going to be a year from now for developers to come up with unique emotes. Will we have :stop2: and :specific_game_rifle: in the store? I hope they create a subsection of the inventory for these things long before then.
If there isn't already a green $ or a picture of a dollar bill, I wonder if You Need a Budget will get cards . . .

I fear that if we combine our buying efforts we will ensure a deeper discount for all those who wait.
Please! I'm not paying a penny over $2.50 for it, even though...

  • Play as a Pagan chieftain and ravage your weak neighbors. If you remain at peace for too long, your people will grow restless...
  • The new, earliest start date is 867 AD. The Viking Rurik has founded the kingdom of Rus and the Great Heathen Army under the sons of Ragnar Lodbrok rampage through England
  • Play as a Zoroastrian lord and restore your ancient religion to prominence
  • Adventurers: Landless characters can gather armies and carve out new realms on their own
  • Prepared Invasions: Declare your intention to invade and watch your armies grow with adventurers and restless warriors, but don't wait too long to start your war or it might all fall apart...
  • Rebels with a Cause: Rebels are no longer a faceless menace – they are now led by characters with agendas
  • Loot and pillage provinces. Burn down cities and take their gold!
  • Sacrifice to Odin at the great Blot!
  • Christians and Muslims can dispatch missions to convert the depraved heathens
  • New beautiful Pagan interface skin
  • New events and decisions: berserkers, sejdr, curses, omens, divinations, runestones and much more

This is totally true. While I found the :dirtblock: emote from Terraria to be amusing, I can't imagine using it.

Steam Community is currently down.

Hopefully, they're improving the UI and whatnot, as we speak.

Perusing the CK2 TOG key feature list did in fact encourage me to expand my religious knowledge (had no clue about the Zoroastrian Religion) so that's worth a buck fifty right there. Throw in Vikings, Adventurers, looting and pillaging, Rebels with a cause and we have to be up to at least three bucks. All that Pagan stuff is just yummy icing on the cake which I would value at no less than two bucks so all total I would say that $3.74 is a minor steal.

anybody have thoughts on red alert 3? Is red alert 3 uprising worth it as well? Red alert 3 uprising does not require base game, funny as I thought it was an expansion. Yes, there are bears in this game.
If you don't have many C&C games, you should get the Ultimate Collection. I have C&C 3 + KW, C&C 4 and RA3 on Steam... and The first decade on retail (don't know why, really)... and will get the Ultimate Collection when it get a decent sale. But that's just me, I'm a C&C fan and REALLY want to play Generals again!

If you're bored watching the videos of people playing those games then that's a good sign that it is not the genre for you. :D They play so differently than TW and Civ that it's not surprising. I favor titles with more action as well, but I keep going back to CK2, feeling as though I'm missing out on some seriously highbrow entertainment, hoping that it might... click!
I got bored watching FTL gameplay vids... but I got TONS of fun playing it

Some TSW advise (don't make the mistakes I've made)...  (I'm QL5/6, wrapping up my last couple missions in Savage Coast, before resuming Blue Mountain.

Crafting is utterly worthless.  By the time you have the materials you need, you'll have found better drops.  Sell surplus for Pax Romana (the ordinary currency).  I suppose at top rank (QL10) it may have be worth it...

At faction levels 2, 4, 8 (your Illuimaniti, Dragon, or Dirtbag Templar you can purchase a permanent run speed increases at your faction HQ (w/Pax Romana) -- totally worth it... I got to faction level 6 before realizing this. >.<

You can can purchase more bag / bank space pretty cheap w/Pax Romana from the "+" at the bottom of your bag/bank.  Well worth it.

Save your Sequins of Soloman for QL6 blue weaps
easy to reach vendor in Blue Mountain.
Spend excess on QL5 talismans
in Savage Coast.

The bank is in London (even if you're not a holier-than-thou Templar).  There's an auction house there too, but I haven't played with it yet.  Clothing doesn't consume inventory space (wardrobe in in your character menu).

Yeah, watching other people play strategy and sim games is pretty much a drag. I would never buy one if I relied on videos of other people playing. Talking about specific features and demonstrating those is a different story though.

Fair point. Watching is generally not as fun as doing.

Still, my point is that if you're bored just looking at a game then you should have a fair idea of whether or not you'll enjoy it once you play it yourself.

Crusader Kings II is great, especially with this fantastic Game of Thrones mod

The DLC isn't required for the mod at all, but it does add some nice additional features listed in the spoiler below.

  • The Sword of Islam: Adds only the ability for the player to have multiple wives as a character of the Valyrian religion.
  • Legacy of Rome: Adds castration and blinding capability as well as a couple of flavour events. It does NOT add retinues.
  • The Republic: Does allow republics to be formed and played, but there are currently no playable republics from the start in any scenario.
  • The Old Gods: Enables the concubine system for Drowned God followers (Pre-DLC system will be used if not enabled). Also adds much flavour, including beserkers, adventurers, new rebels and runestones. Raiding is available for drowned god and wildlings even without this DLC.
  • Ruler Designer: Fully compatible with the mod
  • Dynasty Coat of Arms Pack 1/2: Not used
  • Mongol Face Pack: Currently used for Dothraki, but only as a placeholder until new portraits are created for them
  • Music Packs: The mod's soundtrack currently overrides them, however deleting "A Game of Thrones/music/songs.txt" will re-enable vanilla music
  • African Unit Pack/Portraits: Used for the Summer Islanders
  • Byzantine Unit Pack: Not used
  • Mediterranean Portraits: Not used
  • Russian Unit Pack/Portraits: Not used
  • Norse Unit Pack/Portraits: Not used
  • Sunset Invasion: Some Aztecs may appear if enabled...

Whether or not all the DLC is worth the extra $10 is up to you.

RL is more Megaman than Dark Souls as far as deaths. It's great. Just buy it.

P.S. managed to not get banned this go around - I'll be sure to be more active next time, been busy.

There is also a Elder Scrolls mod for CK2: Elder Kings

2013-03-02_00003.jpg

I haven't tried it personally as I only use CK2+ and VIET.

My only gripe with CK2 is I tend to ignore all my other games in the backlog when I immersed in it.

I've gained 1200 points in my TSW account - you know, from playing the game and doing 30 mission.

How come only Mission Pack #7 is available to buy w/ those points?

Where are the other 6 in the TSW Store?

EDIT:

Also, where's a good place to get equipment repaired?

I'm in Kingsmouth.

#1 - 4 are included in the base game, and if you bought before early January #5 was also included. Don't know why you can't see #6 for purchase. Did you look under Boosts?

Fairly sure 6 was the one that happened during all those sales so if you were subbed during 6's release you got it as well.  I can't remember for sure so that could be a load of crap.

For those wanting Command & Conquer games and don't care about Steam, you can get all C&C games by buying the Command & Conquer Ultimate Collection which activates on Origin and has been as cheap as $8 when on sale. I also don't see EA participating in the card thing since that is just one more reason not to use Origin.

I looked on Item Store on my account - now I can see all the newer mission packs for purchase (Missions 5-7).

Thanks!

EDIT:

So for those playing, what do you all like for the TSW mission packs - what do you guys like the best?

I like that it shows both platforms and the PSN part looks nice with a lot of info, but I feel like the Steam part is barebones and sucks. You might not even know it was representing a Steam account. I'm torn.

I like this one, but I feel that the groups section is a real waste of space and it doesn't show my badges like xanchui's does. If anyone thinks I'm too off topic then let me know before you ban me, thanks. :whistle2:

Yeah this one is way classier, I'll switch to this in a bit. Thanks for the feedback.

The newest issue is good. There is a snowmobile quest where you ride around on snowmobiles and shoot things with missiles and shit..and you get a flamethrower.

Last Train to Cairo is worth it for whip auxiliary weapon

You can pass on Tyler Freeborn....its an ok issue..its just short and there are no aux weapons gained from having it.

I like it, but yeah the Steam part is a little bare. Did you try swapping Steam for the bottom instead of the top, I think it might look less bare that way. IMO anything not thread breakingly large or moving is fine for a sig, but maybe I am just making excuses for my (probably annoying) one

I did try swapping, it didn't look any better. I compared these two side by side and the classier steamsignature.com one is a little less tall, which is also nice. I'm going to switch to it.

Sorry to say it but your pic ain't pretty, unfortunately there don't seem to be many options if you want a multi-platform one. :whistle2:$

honestly I agree, I may just remove it entirely, since I doubt anyone really cares about what I'm playing. I wish there were more designs that incorporated all three platforms (Steam, XBL, PSN), but so far it is about the only one I have come across.

Keep it if you like it. I used to use two separate pics, one for Steam and one for PSN, but I've sorta quit playing console for the last 2 years, due to PC master race.

well I don't really, I just have a weird OCD issue of wanting everything together, but I may just scrap it and look for either a Steam/PSN combo (since I rarely play my 360), or just forgo having one altogether. I guess I could just leave my blog link, though that also looks pretty meh (CAG 3.0 has messed up all my previous formatting) :headache:

And sorry if anyone thinks this is too off topic, I don't mean to derail the thread

Steam card idling killed the whole usefulness of "what are my friends playing"

anybody have thoughts on red alert 3? Is red alert 3 uprising worth it as well? Red alert 3 uprising does not require base game, funny as I thought it was an expansion. Yes, there are bears in this game.
Red Alert 3 was one of the best RTS games I've played in the last five years, including Starcraft II. I play strategy games (and all other games) pretty much exclusively for the campaigns. There are very few games that hold my interest long enough to futz around with skirmishes and even fewer with which I will bother to tinker around in actual multiplayer games with other humans. RA3 has three great campaigns for the Allies, Soviets and Empire of the Rising Sun (i.e., Japan). The mission design is highly-varied, the co-op AI is great, and the cutscenes are epic. Let me reiterate that point about the AI because you play a lot of the campaign missions alongside an allied AI commander and this is the only game of its kind I've ever played where the friendly AI was more than capable of pulling its weight. The cutscenes feature well-known talent such as J.K. Simmons, Jenny McCarthy, George Takei, and Tim Curry. (IMO, any game with George Takei pretty much sells itself. I've come very close on several occasions to buying PAIN on the PS3 just because it has Takei DLC.) The analogy that seems most appropriate to me (even though I have yet to play Saints Row the Third) is that RA3 is to RA2 as SRTT is to SR2; it takes all of the cool stuff about Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge and cranks it up to 11 with man-cannons, bears, and crazy, over-the-top cutscenes.

Uprising is also good for the mini-campaigns, but the Commander's Challenge missions (where you have a limited amount of resources, access only to certain units, and specific victory conditions--and cannot save mid-mission) get tedious pretty quickly.

I always forget to check what the top played games are after games get cards. Maybe Costume Quest, which is a fun little game by the way, overtook the top spot.
Costume Quest is awesome indeed. I like the feeling of a semi-shallow RPG with some quirks to it. A buy if it's $5 (DLC is good too)

Never knew it was that low, being an XBL player I got it for $5
also came with Stacking and Psychonauts, and Brutal Legend if you BTA. Was where I picked them up, though of course I haven't played them yet (well I had already played Psychonuats, but really need to get on the other two). Double Fine is easily one of my favorite developers, if only because they keep trying new things and if nothing else always have great writing and humor ^_^
