That $1 tier looks great if true since I don't own any of them. (Yes, crazy I know)

On another note, that Android Bundle is going to bum me out for the next 13 days. Sometimes I wish those non-game Humble Bundles didn't last two weeks.

Skydrift is pretty fun for an arcade-y racer.  Not many tracks though.

Already have Tropico 3, but might go in for the $6 tier for Back in Action and Tropico 4.  Maybe.

Hmmm, just checked and I don't have Skydrift either, but I'd rather finish Snoopy Red Baron on the PS2 if I want to fly.

Yeah, a bullet hell type shooter. Not really my kind of game, but people who love em, love em.
Yeah, looked at vid. Looks pretty but I don't like those types of games too much.

It's really no different than just giving them your log in info and letting them use your account if they want. Oh, it has achievements. Steam could easily implement a secure way to have a true family sharing system. This is actually more of a home sharing system and they are very different.
It's a little more secure than allowing someone access to your account. It's also hard to completely dismiss the social/achievement aspect of individual accounts.

I do believe it was mischaracterized, though I'm unsure whether it was done intentionally with a goal of making it sound better than it really is, or if it was just a case of typical poor Valve communication.

As it stands, it certainly isn't for everyone. I do hope they pursue the better options you've mentioned, but I fear that potentially reaches too far into Valve's virtual pockets for it to happen.

I mean, I don't think Valve is purposely deceiving anyone. I just think they are naive and full of themselves. They could easily implement a system with limited family slots, limited games, things like only one other person can play a game when you are playing. Family having access and ability to trade your inventory, etc. Basically controls to limit abuse and still allow this to be a shared family system. I do think they are marketing this as family sharing to make it seem cooler than it actually is. My PS3 already allows multiple profiles on one system and allows me to DL games from one PSN profile and play them without being logged into that profile.

ftfy ;)

I mean I'm not particularly interested in the Mobile Bundle either, but calling them non-games is a bit of a stretch. Some might even argue they are more game-games than a lot of the stuff that's been included in prior bundles (Dear Ester, Proteus, etc.).

Pass for me. I only need Sine Mora, but that is just some shooter right?
I've heard nothing but great things about Sine Mora, and much of it from those that aren't usually fans of bullet-hell games. It's also really really pretty, so I'd suggest you try the demo (I think there's one) before you completely dismiss it.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it but A Virus Named Tom got Steam Cards earlier today. After crafting the level 5 badge, I got 4 different Tom emoticons.

I like bullet hell games...obviously it's a genre I could get sick of if overplayed, but they're nice little arcadey type of games that (IMHO) are great for breaking up longer games.

I'll chime in. I really like bullet hell games but I think Sine Mora is an ill-designed, poorly paced mess. It's pretty but that's really all it has going for it. Loads of stretches where nothing happens, bosses with really stupid trick attacks that you have to know are coming and how to react to them in advance of them ever being telegraphed to avoid.

If you're not good at the genre, I think Jamestown kicks the crap out of it for a gradual learning curve. The brick wall "You can't go to the last level unless you kick the difficulty up" is a gut punch but the granularity of difficulties is wonderful.

If you DO consider yourself handy at the genre, then still get Jamestown but also try Exceed 3rd and Gundemonium and the ALLTYNEX (Desura, but Greenlight too).

Spoilers: I generally only beat these games by hammering the continue button like it owes me money. I'm not great at them by any stretch.

I think the benefit is for people that don't feel comfortable building their own PC but want to play games on one. It's sorta like someone that goes to Walmart and grabs the first computer they see simply because it's easy, only with this at least they should be getting something halfway decent.

For most of the PC gaming audience though you're probably right, and I don't expect many will stop building/upgrading their custom builds and switch over. It's Valve trying to corner the console market, but with so many questions unanswered I can't say with any certainty what their chances are of it succeeding.
Yeah I guess. But it will be really tough for them because people will start just listing the parts being used and copycat it for likely cheaper. If someone isn't really into building a gaming pc will they be able to handle the uncertainty that pc gaming comes with? Is steamOS going to fix the uncertainty or make it much worse by adding a whole additional layer to the " things that can possibly go wrong" section?

Yes! That's a most excellent fix. Thanks. Non-Steam games is what I meant to say, but failed to convey this. [gif of a monkey slamming a banana on the ground redacted]

I tend to ignore the comedian video & audio bundles, book bundles, & mobile game bundles. Have there been other odd bundles besides those types? Sometimes I'll go for a desura key bundle but only if there's a chance the games are in the potential Greenlight phase. Also, if they have game soundtracks/scores that I might be missing that are of interest.

Um, probably not from Humble, but I know other sites (IndieGala, Groupees, IndieRoyale, etc) have tossed in some weird stuff before. I get where you're coming from. I for instance try to avoid anything DRM-Free only, even if it's a game I'm interested in. There's just too much to keep track of that I need some sort of client or there's an even bigger chance I'll never so much as start it.

I don't know if someone may have mentioned this yet, but I believe Steam Family Sharing is going to have limited functionality until SteamOS and SteamBoxes are released (perhaps that's fairly obvious). Limited in how Valve initially has described the sharing process; between family members, one game active per account at a time, etc... I could definitely see Valve extending family sharing towards becoming a key feature within the SteamBox movement. Perhaps something like even going as far as offering a monthly lease/subscription membership so two 'family members' could use one account at the same time. You just know there's a way for Valve to create a new marketable feature to profit from (steam cards anyone?).

In the current family sharing beta state I just don't see a huge draw for the majority of users. However, it could become a bigger key element down the line after it evolves. One thing remains clear, Valve is positioning themselves to remain competitive with consoles in the future. Which is good news for PC gamers and builders.

I fully agree. DRM-Free can be great, but I tend to forget about those games because it's not cataloged in Steam, Desura, Origin, Uplay, etc... I know I could just as easily 'add a non-steam game' to my Steam library, but that would also require remembering, finding, installing, and organizing. With the ever growing backlog, new deals, new releases and time constraints I like keeping it simple with just client purchased games. Plus, like you, I doubt I'll ever start the DRM-Free only games.

Haha. I'm starting to fill up an entire page with posts. Three-in-a-row!  Through deductive reasoning it appears most people are asleep, therefore I should be as well. :)

I have to say though, State of Decay is quite fun. I didn't know what to think after the first hour, but it's grown on me. I'm starting to get hooked and can't wait to face another zombie horde, or tell a trio of survivors who appear to be a lazy guy, a book worm, & a chick with anger issues that they cannot join up with my crew of survivors. :D/ I haven't decided yet but I'm leaning that way.

Thanks for this! I redeemed my HIB code and am idling SAM now. I wish there was an easy way to check which of my unredeemed Steam keys have cards.

Another great game has snuck onto steam

http://store.steampowered.com/app/243000/

david bowie, terrible graphics, fighting game mechanics, astral projection.... this game has it all
Giant Bomb played a good chunk of that game a couple of months ago. I remember seeing it advertised when it came out but never tried it myself and watching their video made me want to. Steam seems like as good an excuse as any. It just needs a good sale.

Not sure if posted before..

Tropico 3 - Steam Special Edition

Tier 2 (Steam Key for all): $6

Jagged Alliance - Back in Action
Tropico 4

Found it posted by NikomaiHurashi on SPUF
In for a $1 for SkyDrift, I guess. Lame overall, though, seeing as how the Tropico games and Anna have been bundled already.

Well, I will say one thing: it's nice having advance notice of these upcoming bundles so we don't inadvertently buy any of these games un-bundled.  Now we need a wiki or something somewhere that lists these bundle additions to the Steam registry that haven't gone live yet so I don't forget.

That's true -- this one's likely to be 3-4 weeks down the road.

We need a wiki for boys who don't know how to avoid bundles of joy.

DLC for The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing was just released.

A new quest has begun: waiting for a sale on VH:GOTY.

i had it for dreamcast but was too young and sober to really appreciate it

here ur weekend sale free weeekdn is gun monkey dead island riptide and rising storm and street fighter teeken wekedn aint that fun yea. are u ready for boring sale guys lol

i had it for dreamcast but was too young and sober to really appreciate it

I was young, but not sober. Maybe that's why I liked it that much

Finally, SFxTekken MSRP has dropped to $30.  Weekend deal is 66% off.  Now to wait for 75%.  Although really, $7.50 still feels like far too much to pay for that game.  Actually, with all the bundles recently, I'm not sure there's any games I'm willing to pay that much for anymore.  Maybe Mortal Kombat...but that's WB and likely to be bundled at Amazon.

fuck this Street Fighter X Tekken sale. It was suppose to waste a slot last week, but got pulled. It not even a good price on a already shit game.
