What's a DVD?
It's an ancient technology for storing data on shiny drink coaster... BluRay is the current version of shiny drink coaster tech, which is used by console peasants in their primitative XBox One and PS4... and even the aged PS3 used BluRay. At the same time of the PS3, Xbox 360 savages still used the ancient DVD drink coaster technology. But there was a time in the early age of the 5th golden era that even DVD technology was new, hundreds of millions adopted it while accepting PS2 as their new religion. This lead to the downfall of the CD (Compact Disque) civilization as people wanted more capable drinks coasters. Origin myths say the CD civilization were true descends of the Laser Disque titans, but no one can say for sure since the recorded history has been mostly lost to Data Corruption.

I've got everything split-up.

I have back-up files/installers on my 2 other external HDD's, all separated out by where I bought them or by what client-program is required. I used to put games-files like these - on DVD's or CD's, if they can fit on them; but I've gotten lazy and been doing more of the file-storing on my external HDD's.

For game-installs, those go on one of my 3 main internal HDD's. I do NOT install everything into their default folders, normally - except Steam-required games or there's some other foolish reason. I normally install them into a folder split-up by where I bought them or from what client is required. The only other exception is unless it's necessary for some foolish reason just to get the game to run (i.e. see how Wiz 8 like to be in C:\Wiz8 just to freaking boot) - even then, I'll also take that "forced folder location" + create a shortcut-folder link to where I would've put the game if I had my choice, anyways.
Oh MysterD I never doubted for a second that you had some sort of Rain Main-esque system to organize all your games.

I've put about 8-9 hours into How to Survive's co-op (I'm currently playing it with indef), and I'm liking it so far, maybe more than I should. The game is basically a twin stick shooter with survival + crafting mechanics.. which isn't a bad thing. I came into it expecting that, and my expectations were met, and perhaps exceeded. My main complaints are that there's no storage system and inventory space is somewhat limited.. but managing inventory is a lot easier when you're in co-op since you can share items with a friend. I believe item locations (when dropped) are saved as well so you can go back to them if you need them.

I really like the crafting system, you can make weapons (and upgrade them), healing items, buffs, incendiary/exploding arrows, molotov cocktails, armor, etc. which are pretty fun to mess around with. The buffs are pretty limited, most of them seem to only last about 15 seconds, so I guess that's my main gripe with the crafting system. Exploding groups of enemies with the bow is awesome. Resources are plentiful so it makes the crafting system user friendly for the most part, and gun ammo is everywhere.

The skill trees could use some work.. I didn't know until several hours into the game that each character gets some unique skills. I think Kenji can makes crossbows so if you're playing alone it's probably best to go with him, otherwise if you're playing with a friend.. they can use Kenji and make the crossbow for you. Jack can make scopes, which are pretty useful too. I've skipped most of the buff skills, but the weapon skills are nice. Story is lacking, most of the missions require you to obtain items which advance the story. There really doesn't seem to be much to it at the point I'm at.. but I wasn't expecting much of a story going into it.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with my Amazon EC purchase and think it was a great value, especially with the recent addition of a online co-op story mode. I think as long as you know what type of game you're getting, you won't be disappointed.

I've put a few hours into Titanfall and I have no idea how it's like transformers. It is call of duty with verticality and mechs replacing killstreaks. Mechs does not = transformers.

What do you think of it? I'm not really a call of duty fan, single or multiplayer. Is it something that would potentially be appealing to somebody like that, or probably not? My initial reaction to it was "who fuck ing cares" but people won't shut up about it to the point where I feel I have to give it a shot at some point.

It plays a lot like call of duty. Fast paced run and gun. I like it, but I also played a few hundred hours of the multiplayer in various call of duty games. It's a little different in a few aspects, of course, but to me it has a very similar feel. I think the beta is open to everyone now, so you can try it out.

Edit: going off of louie's statement about no camping really. The game encourages getting around the map, capturing, defending, and killing in order to earn your titan faster. Call of duty's killstreaks encouraged corner camping to get those streaks, so that's a nice change. Of course you still have players that once they get their titan they stay out of harm's way and pick people off, thinking they are beasting, but really helping their team very little. I had a guy on my team talking all kinds of trash about how this game is so easy and he was getting so many kills, yet he was in the bottom half of scores every game. So the game does encourage the old battlefield ptfo mantra in some regards, which is the anti call of duty.

As someone who used to play a lot of multiplayer but hasn't really played much at all in the last 5 or 6 years, I think it's really fun. The movement and Titans create a situation where people aren't just sitting in the corners of rooms waiting for you to walk in so they can shoot you. The AI units flesh out the battle and give even crappy players a way to contribute. I like it.

Of course as someone who doesn't really play multiplayer games this weekend's beta was enough for me and I've already had my fill so I'm not going to buy it.

Thanks for the feedback, louie and preedatore. It still doesn't sound all that much like something I'd be interested in. The multiplayer game coming up that I do think sounds interesting is Evolve, by the team that made Left 4 Dead.

;no u need to spank mysterd hehe
I fucked my future up a while ago, and lost my loving fiancee. Now I've been mildly depressed for a year or more. I think he should spank me, partly because I deserve it, and partly because I'd feel more loved. But you can't always get what you want.

Re: titanfall

Talked to a few friends today who played for a few hours and they said it was fun, but they are BF players, and they said they could see it getting old fairly quickly. It didnt encourage as much strategy as bf does and it plays more like halo.  It also had smaller maps than they were used to that didnt seem to bring in as much interaction

just some second hand reviews for ya

I'll parrot the other Titanfall impressions.  It's kinda fun.  For my game mashup, i'll say it's Battlefield 3 combined with Warframe because of the wallrunning which is a nice little addition.  Got bored with it real fast though, like I have with all modern FPSsesses.

Thought the actual Titan part of Titanfall was rather dull, except for the sweet ejector seats.

Also just completed How to Survive co-op on normal, officially finishing my One for February challenge.  :D/

I'd like to say that so far I've been pleasantly surprised by Max Payne 1 (I'm on part 2, chapter 3 right now). I'm always a bit skeptical of older fps games, as shooters aren't my favorite genre to begin with, and you never know how and older one will age. Not to mention, I wasn't the biggest fan of F.E.A.R, who's big mechanic is essentially bullet time, as well. The gameplay holds up, and the graphics are surprisingly good for a 13 year old game - I booted it up and realized I didn't even need to waste time looking for any graphics mods. It's definitely worth a play if you've never played it, plus, according to HLTB, it's only about 8-10 hours long, so it's a quick game to knock out of your backlog.

That dream sequence was pretty creepy first time I played it on PS2. Great game and great use of bullet-time mechanic before it became overused.

I'm thinking I should have just gotten a 250 GB SSD instead of a 500 GB standard HD.  Hell, even the Nerd looked at me funny when I said I didn't need a 1 TB drive.  And everyone on here is always talking about needing multiple 3 TB drives, etc.  What on earth do you people install?  Right now I have 15 games installed.  Granted, half a dozen are extremely small indies but the rest are fairly sizable like Hitman Absolution, Hard Reset, Div: OS, Serious Sam 3, Saints Row The Third, Zeno Clash 2, Hydrophobia, etc.  And still I have like 350 GB free.  I guess some of you have massive porn/music/torrent collections?

It's because you only have 15 games installed. I have all my games installed...between Steam, GOG, Origin, Crapsule, Uplay, etc...it's over 400. Multiply the space those 15 are taking by about 25-30, and it's easy to see why you might need more than a 500 GB HD.

It's THIS and games are getting bigger and bigger. It's not uncommon for alot of recently released/upcoming games to be pushing 20+ GB. Obviously indies don't really apply, but AA and AAA games are huge these days.

Could have just gotten the best of both worlds, a multi-TB drive with a 64gb SSD as a cache, then you get near ssd performance with all the space you want

I'm amused... your input to Mooby is pointless... you're talking to someone who built a gaming desktop and only opted for a 500GB spinning drive.  Besides which he hates most games.

I keep most/many games installed so I can easily play what I want/something new without needing to wait hours for it to download.  My 2TB Steam drive has less than 100 GB free (and I've been trying to reduce that... it's not good to keep drives too full.)

Also there is the very basic fact that larger capacity spinning drives has higher bandwidth read/writes (due to higher data density).

I have probably over 1TB of music. It adds up when you have 1000s of CDs and try to rip them in HQ. Thinking of switching over the the Amazon Cloud thing, but I fear a cloud failure and loss of all my music.

I used to install a crap load of games, but I shied away from that. I tend to keep certain big games installed (MMOs mostly) and then just rotate with like 10-15 games installed I see myself playing relatively soon.

How much did that drive cost you?

I've been looking at parts for a new computer, and I wanted to buy a 250 GB drive for the OS (multiple ones), but then I saw the 250 GB one cost about the same as a 500 GB one. Which was weird.

That's common... usually drives don't drop much below $60, so seeing two drive with the same price and same capacity in the sub $100 price range isn't uncommon.

For small drives you're best off rummaging up one of your old drives (or a friend's old drive).

I fully endorse getting an SSD of any size for running your OS/Core applications. Personally I'm a samsung guy, but anything 256+ is great. I keep my steam library on an un-conventional Raid0 (2x 3Tb) UEFI Bios Mode for a single 5 5.45tb logical disk.
