This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Congrats you little poop

It's probably a sign I'm regressing, but I've been bursting out over a bunch of these posts lately. Feels good

Let us (me) know what you think of it. I'm still adjusting to my Tartarus's thumbstick. :headache:
First thoughts...

I'll have to play with it some more, obviously, but so far... I like the feel of it overall but even with the 8-way D-Pad it feels very sloppy on WASD.

Granted, I've not tried it with the best of games:

Rune Classic; I move forward well enough but when "pulling back" my character has the tendency of going back and to the right (S+D)

Gotham Imposters; D Pad doesn't seem to do a damn thing for movement... (Same profile as above so it seems to be profiled correctly. And inside Synapse 2.0 its set up for 4 way movement by default.)

Anyhow, I have L4D2 installing right now...
More thoughts...

Appearently, I click the wrong L4D and installed the first... Which I've played on the 360 so its a game I know, not that I expect major changes in 2, but familiarity means I have a better chance of seeing if it works for me.

Anyhow, no matter what I do I cannot get the D-Pad to handle directional movement, this is the same issue I was getting in Gotham Imposters. The D-Pad is configured for movement, I finally found that option buried under the worthless side view instead of just being "right there" with the rest of the keypad options... The Thumb button doesn't seem to want to do much either, though the key for reloading works... I can enable the controller option in L4D and my controller works just fine. (Wired 360) WASD work on my keyboard just fine too. As I said, I'm at a loss... *shrug*

In Arkham Asylum (I took a break to do the Raptr AMD daily reward of playing a game for an hour straight) the D-Pad does seem to work, but I use the controller anyways. By work I mean I look like a drunken sailor coming back to the ship from shore leave. I take off at forward diagonals (either left or right) far more often than hitting the proper movement of just forward...

That's sort of crazy as in Rune Classic I had more issues with backing up and not going forward...

I've verified settings in all the games I've tried... I've actually gone as far as closing and reopening the games even though I'm sure that's overkill as I'm sure those changes should just work without a reboot.

I'm not expecting any changes but I got L4D2 installing now...

Edited Thoughts:

L4D2 went as expected, keyboard, controller, all work fine... Orbweaver D-Pad does not. Keypad does work.

Also tried No Room In Hell and Outlast... Its the same.

So to make sure I didn't muck something up I tried Rune Classic again... Anyone want to guess rather or not the D-Pad work on it?

It does... Rune Classic actually works with the Synapse 2.0 Razer program being closed also. So, I don't know what the fuck is going on...

So i'm thinking about biting on Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate from the Amazon Deals of the Week. I know Eden has been bundled before but I'm not sure about this one. I don't use ES so does anyone know if Pixeljunk games have been on sale for more than 50% often? Or maybe just wait for holiday sales? Any help is appreciated.

edit - call me crazy but i thought it would've been rude asking this in the Amazon thread itself...

Sorry, but I'm not answering this because everyone should be using ES. Hit up isthereanydeal.com for your answer.

So this warning is in the marketplace right now:

Dota 2 is temporarily unavailable in the Community Market. All Dota listings excluding Treasure Chests and Keys will be returned to the owners' inventories. All other games are unaffected. You can continue to buy and sell items from other games like normal. Dota 2 will become available on the Community Market again once the next Dota patch is live. Go to the patch notes for more information.
Is this normal for when DoTA gets updates, or were there shenanigans?

Where is here if not the steam thread :error:
Ugh, that's what I get for posting prior to morning coffee. Had the trade thread open in the next tab and my morning mouse/eye isn't fully set. :dunce:

(I'd like your post, but apparently I'm still out for the day.)

Strange, kinda. The fact that it works in RC without Synapse isn't that crazy if RC allows for arrow key movement which I believe is the default map for the thumbstick. Synapse just allows customization of the defaults. I've been slowly getting my thumb to remember Razer's intended up and down directions, but it's been a struggle. I'll probably go back to my G13 after getting consistent enough with the Tartarus to get an accurate comparison. Though, I have a feeling I may be going back to the G13 permanently. Generic question, but out of curiosity, are you linking each games .exe to the created profile? Maybe in L4D the pad is just using the default profile instead of your customized one?.

The new Rocksmith is half off at $28.18 here.  I have no idea what this site is, but it's a great price.  I'm going to wait to see what the winter sales can bring myself.  I have booted up the old Rocksmith all of two times since buying it in the summer sale...

No, I'm KISSing (Keep It Simple Stupid) this and using one profile for everything... I'll give Razer props for making the device extremely easy to know what profile its on... but that's a good idea. I'll link L4D2 and see if swaps over when I start it. (That's what its suppose to do right?)

As for G13... I still haven't used one, they seem to be a rare warehouse item unlike Razer items that are always in stock, but I think I'll end up with one... Even in the game that this is working on It just doesn't feel quite right.

Also I'm sure it has nothing to do with its troubles but I had a ton of updates install after my post... I should give it a fair shake and/or be as through as I can be.

Edit: Yeah, no dice...

Also, it doesn't seem to change profiles so I'm not sure why the link is there... I tried L4D2 on two different profiles (with the same layout) and no change. The thumb button (space bar/jump) works as does the keys I tried. (like 10/reload)

is it me or midweek deals end friday ?
First of all... holy crap. I understood what you wrote. ;)

All of Steam's regular deals seem to last 24 hours longer than you would think (i.e. daily deals last 48 hours). I think that was in response to all the complaints from people that "just missed it".

**** Mini Game Review Time ****

This week I have been mostly playing Desktop Dungeons. It was released on Steam last week after something like 3 1/2 years in open beta.

It's basically a puzzler with a fantasy dungeon setting. Each "dungeon" has a boss to kill, but you need to level up sufficiently to kill him. For example, one of the tutorial levels has a goat boss. You need to kill three of the level 1 goats to advance to level 2 where you can maybe kill a level 3 goat and a level 2 warlock to give you enough XP to advance your character to level 3. The tricky part is that you can only regenerate health/mana through a) potions or b) unveiling undiscovered floor tiles in the dungeon. There's no "I'll kill way too many enemies so by the time I reach the boss I'll be stupidly overpowered" approaches here. Everything is finite: your health, your ability to gain XP, your resources.

What it boils down to is a thoughtful, if mathematical, exercise. It's not something you can absent-mindedly wade through. If you haven't leveled up cleverly enough by the end, you won't be tough enough to take out the boss (who is usually between level 8 and 10). So you end up second-guessing everything you're going to kill. This is good for those who like forward planning but bad for those OCD types who must insist on maxing out the most efficient levelling path.

Did I say that all dungeons are randomised? All dungeons are randomised. So the route you took last time damn sure won't work this time.

There's endless replayability (puzzle levels/class-specific levels) and some crafty tutorials which explain the finer points of maximising your potential so it's good value.

Do I like it? Yes.
Do I love it? No. Not yet.

Why? It's an exercise in mental maths and luck. You can spend ages clearing a level only to find out that you're not strong enough to defeat the final boss, meaning you need to start all over again. It can be frustrating. But it's kinda rewarding when you clear a level, too.

That said, each level takes roughly 10 mins or so to complete if you're successful so this is perfect for puzzleheads with limited time.

One for your wishlist. It's by no means easy, and requires a lot of thought and planning, but it's a very, very good game.

Desktop Dungeons is available now on Steam for £10.79/some other currencies.

If you want a taste of what it's about you can still download the original DD for free: http://www.desktopdungeons.net/media/

I tried it on and off for a few months a couple of years back, and it *is* a good game, but as the limey said, it was just too frustrating to get near the end of a level and find out that you can't kill the last few monsters or the boss. If you have the patience to learn exactly what every item does and plan ahead, you can get better at it (I remember quite a few guides) but it was too much like chess for me and, though I like puzzlers, I didn't have the patience for it.

Sounds like I'll stick to my hidden object games.
