Played Skyrim Vanilla on the 360, clocked in 80+ hours, kinda burnt out, now looking to get back in. If you are an Elder Scrolls fan, I might recommend the (Elder Scrolls) Anthology (which is PC only), includes Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowwind, Oblivion and Skyrim (+ DLCs), also includes Steam keys for Morrowind/Oblivion GOTYs and Legendary Skyrim). Plus you get cool poster maps to hang on the wall of your parents basement. Tomorrow at 12:01am, Amazon is also going to have the ES Anthology on sale, hoping they match the Best Buy Price of $30 (tomorrow also, in store def, not sure about online). Anthology or bust for me.
I want this soooooooo bad just for dem mapz. Already have Morrowind/Oblivion GOTYs, have Skyrim, need Dawnguard and hearthfire tho, making this kinda a tough sell for me. 30 bucks for that is an insane price though. Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim w/all their dlcs (plus arena and daggerfall but fo real whos gonna play dat shit anymore) and THOSE MUTHAFUDGING MAPS IWANTDOSEWANTEM

Might go ahead and get the LE then. I've played Skyrim a little bit and liked what I played. Much better than Oblivion, IMO. I loooooved Morrowind.
I'd say the best bet is the LE. All the DLC separate is still $22.50 ($2.50 for Hearthfire and $10 each for the other two) so you're spending just about $30 if you get the standalone Skyrim on sale and pick up the DLC later, vs the $21 now for everything. Of course my maths could be totally wrong on this and I'm a fool, but still. :p

I'm finally playing through it on PS3, after having the game since launch and restarting because a PS3 died earlier this year) and I'm having fun with it again. I wonder if I'll enjoy it more on PC.

Less than a day remaining in the Humble Weekly for Pinball FX2.

Gotta say, I dropped a buck thinking, eh, it's just a buck. Then I played a couple tables and am totally hooked.

I think I read somewhere that it also supports portrait mode monitor setups, has anyone tried this?
I'm totally hooked after the bundle too. And yes, FX2 does support portrait mode. IMO, the best way to play. :D/

I don't have any more room on the walls of my parents' basement; that's where I have my Christie Brinkley and Bugatti Veyron posters hanging.

I WOULD jump on that but I still have my Morrowind disks, disliked Oblivion a great deal, and won't have time to play Arena and/or Daggerfall with the current backlog...which will now have Skyrim added to it.

Skyrim LE for $20 is totally worth it. Skyrim LE + mods = endless hours of gameplay.

I consider myself a CAG in that I basically only buy games that have a nice discount. Either Ebay, Steam, Xbox Live etc. But once in a couple years I will go all out for a game I'm stoked for. I went crazy with Oblivion getting it for the PC, Xbox 360 and eventually getting the GOTY. For Skyrim, I have the collector's edition for the Xbox 360 from Ebay, plus all the DLC.

Now I want the Legendary for the PC, Plus all those mods, maxed visuals on a 1440p monitor would be awesome. I plan to go crazy on my next PC build in a month or two, so yeah, Skyrim is awesome, at any price.

Why's oblivion get so much hate?

It was a bit bland compared to skyrim and morrowind, but I didn't think there was anything necessarily wrong w/it.

It fills that exploration based RPG void + is in the Elder scrolls universe

I luv it

I think the whole ES series since Morrowind has been great.

I loved Morrowind GOTY + Oblivion GOTY + Skyrim all for different reasons.

I think it was just a major letdown after Morrowind was so amazing. The graphics on Morrowind, at the time, were amazing (I remember everybody ohhh-ing and ahhh-ing over how water looked)...the game play was awesome...Jeremy Soule's soundtrack was ear porn. Its dungeons didn't scale to your level (huge disappointment about Oblivion) so when your fifth level chracter walked into a vampire-infested cave, things didn't scale down. You died.

I wasn't a big fan of everything leveling with you as your character leveled, but as the story goes, there is a mod for everything. After installing a mod that removed that craziness, I enjoyed it much more. Of course the problem with mods is I spending more time installing mods than playing the actually game. Just....one....more...mod...will...have...perfect....gaming....experience...

I've yet to play Morrowind, I loaded up the Overhaul mod when I got it on sale this summer, played it for like 3 or 4 hours, and noticed myself already being held hostage by that Elder Scrolls addiction spell, so I stopped because I wanted to play different games (had I kept playing I'd probably just now be finishing it up). Oblivion vs Skyrim tho...Oblivion had better quests. Hands down, no argument.

Skyrim's gameplay was way better though

Mods = hell yes.
A bit off topic but I think this is a good time to give a shout out to Winter is Coming - a mod of Ice and Fire.

Group of people were allowed to use the original teams files and stuff and are reviving the canceled mod. If any game that would do a Game of Thrones mod justice, its Skyrim. Please register/sign in and tell them your interest and support. Hell, if anyone has modding experience, they are looking for help.

Wellllp time to drive home to my parents' house for Turkey Day. I'm sure I'll be on later because why wouldn't I be. If anybody is traveling tonight, drive safe...and seeing as how Thanksgiving Eve is the biggest drinking night of the year, if you are one of those snobby people who has a life and is planning on going out, either get a DD or drink responsibly. Pwease and shank you!

I liked the Dark Brotherhood stuff in both Oblivion and Skyrim.

Yeah - Skyrim does the immersion thing better w/ bringing the player into the game-world, w/ characters always doing stuff in the game-world like Piranha Bytes' old Gothic games & Risen games do.

Of course, Skyrim's combat feels just better than Oblivion.

Now, this can be a plus or minus - depends on how you look at it. Oblivion (unmodded) has a level-scaling system period through-out. Depending on how you look at this, this all can be good or bad - everything's within your level, so you can more or less go and do any quest and area w/out really getting over-powered/stuck. Even though you might be advancing in levels and whatnot, it never gives you the feeling of over-powering enemies or enemies ever over-powering you - b/c everything normally stays right around your level. Most people in RPG's - they want to feel like they can be over-powered or can over-power enemies, so this ain't necessarily a great thing. The only thing Oblivion does - the more you play and higher level you get, the tougher the game can get - making it harder to so some quests and areas at different levels - might be easier to do a quest at Level 5, than trying it on another play-through at Level 35.

Personally, I prefer the way Skyrim handles the leveling thing.

Morrowind's biggest problem was leveling was coded wasn't that great. When I got to Level 35 (or so) and then to the very end of the game's main-quest - the final boss was a cakewalk. 3 hits, it was over. Bleh.

I wasn't planning to activate my The Maw key since I have it on 360, but loved it and have to have that DLC!

Go ahead and buy it - what are you, CHICKEN!?!
I was going to, but then I realized I've been playing so many crappy platformers lately that I really can't handle another. The one review on the store page isn't flattering either.

Agreed. There's nothing stopping Valve from doing something like the badge collecting/voting (like in the Summer Sale) during the Winter Sale to set it apart from the Autumn Sale, so waiting on anything that isn't a flash during this sale to pick up in the Winter Sale is the sound strategy. If the prices are the same, then you haven't lost anything, but if the prices are the same+bonuses per purchase, then you should be buying then (during the Winter Sale).
I hate people being logical *grumble grumble*

Sure why not :) I somehow have not hopped on the Bad Rats train.
Remind me to add you to my list of "people that have played Bad Rats and as such may kill me" list.

Hmmm... nothing really jumps out at me on these sales.
That's quite a relief to me, I hate surprises.

Bad Rats is the obvious choice. The horse game looks to be a nice contender too. That Fowl Play game is looking good as well. I'm a generous person, but I love to fuck with people too. So the more, the merrier.
And here I am planning to buy Secret of the Magic Crystals without any joke in mind...what is wrong with me?

I wonder if I'll enjoy it more on PC.
Is this a trick question?

Sleeping Dogs for $5 - heard it's an amazing game. Truth? Is any of the mounds of DLC worth it?
Sleeping Dogs (base game) was awesome. Get this game!

It's a GTA type of game (open-world crime game)...

....but you're an undercover cop who's doing missions for both the Gangs (trying to infiltrate them) and Cops (And there are times, when you're unsure later who he'll side with); it's set in Hong Kong; has way more emphasis on hand-to-hand melee combat (it's awesome and very similar to that of Batman: Arkham games) than gunplay.

The voice-acting, story, and characters are excellent. Some of the voice-actors include Tom Wilkinson, Emma Stone, Lucy Liu.

Sleeping Dogs is also one of the better PC ports released, these days and age - in terms of amount of having lots of graphical features. bells & whistles, and whatnot. In Nixxes for PC ports, I trust - i.e. they did the PC versions of many recent Square Enix games, such as Hitman: Absolution; Tomb Raider 2013; Deus Ex: Human Rev (original version).

Can't speak on the DLC. I don't have any of it...yet.

Again - get this game!

thanks mr. imdb

So this has nothing to do with the big sale, but there have been a couple keys added to previous Indie Royale bundles. The Prairie Dog bundle now has keys for Signal Ops, and the Debut Bundle 2 has Beast Boxing Turbo.

And apparently you can get a key for Gimbal from the Indie Gala Mass Effect, if you email your Desura key + proof of purchase to [email protected]. Gonna have to try that along with The Shivah. ;)

Of course all this info is stolen from Indie Game Bundle wiki, but I haven't seen it posted here so enjoy.

Just looking at some of the cheap games on sale and I don't own either Fieldrunners. Is it worth getting both or is 2 just more of the same?
I'm a TD fan and didn't care much for the first. It felt very generic. There are much better TD games out there, so I'd say skip them both unless you have already played every TD and just can't get enough.

Fowl Space (you said "Play", do you mean "Space"?) is actually...ok. It's a fairly competent platformer/shooter whose main fault is being repetitive. You can do much better if you're looking for bad.

Why's oblivion get so much hate?
I actually started the series with Oblivion and had to play the others retrospectively. Coming from that direction, I found Oblivion to be quite nice. I can understand the things people like about Morrowind better, but the utter disdain for its sequel... I don't get.

And now I bought Witcher 2.  WTF do I keep buying these long-assed RPGs?  I have a huge backlog on my PS3 and Vita.  My PC backlog is close to equaling those two.  HELP!

And I STILL have to buy Rats!

A lot of hour-time and bang for your buck, that's why.

This is the quest of a CAG - to come up w/ a ridiculous backlog worth of games that you'll ever get enough time in this lifetime to actually ever play them. Half the fun is actually just GETTING such a great deal, in the first place - it's not whether you play a certain game or not. ;)
