New Thread:

This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

I'm tempted to pick up The Dream Machine (All 6 chapters Bundle) for 75% off bringing it to $4.24

Only chapters 1-4 are out so far. Game has been on Steam for 1 1/2 years now. http://store.steampowered.com/sub/14622/

No Steam achievements or CARDZ but I swear I played a demo or something for it a long time ago and liked it. I could always download the demo now but that's too much work. Anyone recommend/not recommend it?
I bought it because the game reminds me of the classic game - The Neverhood.

Is the Blood Dragon soundtrack part of the FC3 deluxe edition?
The Blood Dragon soundtrack dlc is only available for the preorder version of Blood Dragon.

The big disappointment for me was Typing of the Dead Overkill. First day of release it's 50% off, then during a sale it just stays at 25% the whole time? wtf sega y u do dis

Here's what I want in the next sale--

Typing of the Dead: 75% off

Guacamelee: 75% off

All the pinball stuff I don't have yet: 75% off

Smile: Free

YESSSSS

no interest in typing of the dead...i dont see why people are so obsessed with that

If guacamelee/pinball are 75% off my nuts will explode

Now that we've seen all Steam has to offer in the Autumn Sale, I think it's time to discuss....

+ Removed infuriating community vote, which inevitably resulted in some recently bundled or previously more heavily discounted game being chosen.

+ Not quite as many repeats (could be because of the above omission).

+ Not quite as many retreads from previous sales.

+ Many games at or below their previously lowest prices.

- No fun "event" tied into the sale (could be a +, depending upon your stance)

- Some repeats (seriously... why have any?)

- Magicka

- Every game in my wishlist wasn't 75% off.

- Some truly terrible games spotlighted.

- Fewer "extra" discounts due to the removal of community vote
repeeats las falllll happen or no community never happen last fall. it alll mysterd fault the games that isnt on sale 75% off is on sale. community vote was never on last autumn so it make no difference. needs flash salle tho at least 8.

jakenome never come back last night so sad llost dark my russian guy didnt reply back lost 4 games oh well nice steam winter sale for those . no bad mooby

I think those are merely a function of this being the truncated Autumn Sale (lasting only a weekend, really). When the two week event rolls around I'm sure there will be votes and everything repeated at least twice, some three times.

A Steam oddity for anyone on the fence on Toki Tori 2+

Toki Tori 2+ is on sale for 60% off $14.99 $5.99

The Two Tribes Bundle is 77% off $19.99 $4.59 and includes:

- Toki Tori

- Toki Tori 2+

- Edge

- Rush

The real kicker is this - all of the duplicate games are giftable

Steam will tell you that they are not, but:

- buy a giftable copy

- activate it on your account (Steam will warn you that you will not get extra copies of any you may already own)

- Steam will then give you giftable copies of everything you already own.

The stackable Toki Tori 2 10% coupon can't be applied to the bundle. TT2 is $5.39 on its own w/ coupon FYI.

Can't wait for this sale to end. It means that Starbound Beta is out and I can finally start playing. Overall it was pretty poor for me, but that's what happens when you own so many games I guess.

Hmmm... dare I use Windows 8? Still debating GPUs -- what say you chaps, MSI 770 TwinForzzeezaroo or EVGA 770 SC ACX?
Windows 8/8.1 is pretty good under the hood and I like that. The main issue is you need to either get used to the interface or install a third party program to get the normal start menu back. At home I use a third party start menu with Windows 8 (Using Enterprise from my TechNet Subscription, so I can't upgrade to 8.1 without a full reinstall) with two monitors. At work I use Windows 8.1 without any third party start menu and three monitors. Either way doesn't phase me because I hit the Start Key that brings up either the tile screen or the third party start menu and type what I want, which finds it and I hit enter. Game wise I haven't had any real issue yet that I'm aware of.

So long as you can get past the whole tile thing and learn to use the interface efficiently, I recommend it for what's under the hood. I probably wouldn't get it just for the sake of getting it though, but that's entirely up to you.

I went with 8.1... Its going to last longer and its actually the best MS OS for gaming (at least at modern levels) as it benchmarks better than Windows 7.

I may regret it....

As for video cards... I'm going to hold off as long as possible and hope that the new gen of cards releases in a reasonable amount of time/cost.

Windows 8 with ClassicShell is pretty much just like Windows 7. The only time I use the tiles is for Netflix. (Nicer interface than the website.) But then instead of the nice Aero Glass now it's some Window 3.1-looking thing. "Just what I always wanted," said no one.

Indie Royale w/ cheese
More like Indie Royale w/ shit on a shingle...

The cover of all those games look like 5th grader artwork... and not even the highly talented ones.

I know, I know, don't judge a book by its cover and I truly believe that... but, wow, every one of them is such a turn off I cannot even be bothered to check the trailers.

The Defy Gravity artwork looks like she's getting ready to strip for me.. so I don't mind that one.

Rush Bros and Bad Bots suck and have been bundled before, so what you're getting here is potentially 3 decent games. I haven't tried the other 3, so I can't say for sure.

I too oggled at that for a second or ten - I already have the game and have played it, and I can tell you that there's nothing like that in the game (wish there was...)

Is there one last batch of daily deals this morning, or is this it? Just wondering when I need to make any final buying decisions (still on the fence on a couple games).

It's still .80 cheaper to buy the bundle than it is to buy TT2+ at 60% with the stacked 10% coupon. Plus you get the other games to play, sell, trade, or gift.

What I got:

Far Cry 3

Invalid Far Cry 3 Deluxe Edition

The Blood Dragon soundtrack dlc is only available for the preorder version of Blood Dragon.
Blood Dragon soundtrack is available on Amazon, although some key tracks are missing. From a post I made on Steam,

For my soundtrack loving friends, these are four songs that are in the game but for legal reasons were not included in the official Blood Dragon soundtrack. You can legally purchase these tracks from any number of digital music distributors.

In order of appearance,

Little Richard - Long Tall Sally (from Predator)
Powerglove - Hunters (Plague Theme) (from Hobo with a Shotgun)
Vince DiCola - War (from Rocky IV)
Dragon Sound - Friends (from Miami Connection)

Thanks... still muddling over Monaco and Guacamelee. To backlog or not to backlog, that is the question.
If you're gonna backlog them, I'd wait. They seem like Humble Bundle material to me. If you're gonna play them immediately, it's a different story.

Its the upgrade, not the full version.[/quote]Hmm. I have a legit win 7, can I fresh install 8 with the upgrade version of 8? I used some trick to fresh install 7 upgrade version while never owning a legit prior version of Windows.

Edit, I googled and there are a couple ways to fresh install 8 from upgrade disc, even a trick for if you don't have 7. Hmmmm.

My FC3Deluxe key worked on about the 4th attempt using the in-game "Exclusive Content" option. Christ, what a confusing mess that was. Maybe MysterD was right all along with his DRM soapboxery.

Well, you missed the Monaco deal a day or two ago. It was about half the price it is right now. Guacamelee will surely hit 75% off in the next few months. If you're going to add them to the backlog, it's probably better to wait.

Amazon.com has the Steam version of Assassin's Creed IV for $30.

I think I'm going to wait and see if Amazon, or Steam themselves, has it for lower during the holiday sale.  I still need to buy/play Revelations and III anyway, and I know those have been cheaper already on Steam than they were during the autumn sale.  I was surprised not to see any of them on daily deal or flash deal.  Fingers crossed for holiday sale.

You can upgrade to 8 from as far back as XP. Luckily, I have 95, 98, 2000, ME, XP, Vista and 7 all on disc.

He is selling 8.1 and I just read that starting with 8.1 MS has eliminated upgrade versions of Windows and only sells full versions.

I just sent a pm asking him for more details.

Yeah, you might be right. I think I'll still wait anyway, though. I think Amazon or Steam will match it at least during the holiday sale, and I don't have a lot of cash now, and obsessively want to play Revelations and III first anyway.

Is Megabyte Punch good? It looks amazing. Think it's bundle fodder, or will hit more than 60% off this week?
It's been in Greenlight Bundle 3 before, and an IGS deal. Yes, it's good. It's extremely disappointing that it has no online multiplayer though..

Yeah, that approach makes sense. Very slim chance that 50% won't be matched during holiday sale.

I keep a backup copy of IBM DOS 4.0 on disk just in case I see a good sale price on Scorched Earth.
I keep MoSlo on my comp for the times I have a sudden hankering for Pool of Radiance / Curse of the Azure Bonds / Secrets of the Silver Blade / Pools of Darkness.

:D

I traded a Bridge It Desura key and the rights to a 2013 Bridge It Steam key to a CAG... but who? So many PMs to check...

edit: PM search is a thing -- I'm so proud of 3.0 right now

Haha... I remember re-playing CAB on a K6-2 processor and everyone virtually teleported around on the screen without SloMo down to 20% or so. I can't fathom it on an i7.
