This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Would love a Lego bundle with all the staples...star wars, Indy, potter, batman, avengers, lord of the rings, Jenna Jameson, Lego rats.

Soo whats with all dis hype about Starbound? Should I care about this game if I don't give two shits about Terraria type games?

There's no fighting. It's one bitter bitch who's mad because nobody wants to eat rotten food with him inside a small box.

And me.
Personally I'd love to do that, it's one of my hobbies

Or are you calling windows 8 rotten food? But fox is the one who h8s 8?

I'm confused

I think the hatred for Windows 8 is the rotten food. And the majority of Windows 8 PC users who hate it are the ones who refuse to eat it with me. Not sure where the small box comes in. My Mind Link with Mind Link has been getting weak lately. I need to add more tinfoil to my hat.

YOU'RE the guy that Alice in chains song is about!!!!!
hate dat band

no offense

Hmm, let's delve into this.

There's no fighting. It's one bitter bitch who's mad because nobody wants to eat rotten food with him inside a small box.

And me.

One bitter bitch:

This obviously refers to cheaplikeafox. Interestingly, the use of the term "bitch" implies that fox is at heart, a dog

who's mad because nobody:

This perhaps gives insight as to why fox, although at heart a dog, is now a fox. Dogs are pack animals, and long for companionship. Foxes are more of an isolation type of animal, living in small groups. If nobody wants to be around fox, perhaps he has embraced an isolationist lifestyle in a way of coping with this rejection

wants to eat rotten food with him:

I think fox's interpretation of this bit was correct: the rotten food is likely the hate he has for windows 8. Similar to how rotten food was once nutritious, a positive, hate was once raw passion - a potentially useful thing, indeed. Hate is raw passion gone rotten.

Inside a small box:

This can refer to several things, I believe:

Either a retail box of windows 8, or your actual computer - the box where your personal windows 8 copy has been installed.

Mind Link said so much with so little words.

Obviously you haven't read The Foot Book.

huh?
some are really stupid like that, like some of the applications...but i never use those
whaddaya mean?[/quote]Oh that's just with certain programs?

I only use the Start menu and quick launch bar to start all my programs, does it have those without having to install some third party mod? I don't mind customizing settings, i do that with every version of windows, but don't like the idea of installing some mod thing.

I only use the desktop to display a lovely wallpaper of Reon.

I hate that the Steam mobile app doesn't clearly display the daily deals unless it's during a major holiday sale. The only reason I check the steam store 99% of the time is to find out the daily deal. They have a Specials tab but it's just a jumbled list of anything with a discount, no indicator of the daily deal. Shitty. Or am I missing something?
The mobile app needs to do a much better job of highlighting the daily deals.

All Steam platforms (client, Web, and mobile) need to do a much better job of highlighting the weekly deals.

I've gotten to the point where I won't even use the mobile app except during major sales. It's nice to have when you're out visiting family and need to check the expiring flash sales, but the rest of its functionality is mediocre at best.

As for the Win7/Win8 debate -- meh. I've still got several Win7 keys I haven't used yet. I'll probably stick with Win7 until Windows 10 comes out.

Yeah...there's no start menu in windows 8, have to use a mod. There's a bunch out there tho, including ones that are designed to look exactly like windows 7 did, or ones that are different and a bit spiffier. They're easy to install and safe.

It is really stupid that they didn't include a start menu

And I think most of the apps (photos, videos, etc) that came pre installed w/the OS don't have an "x," but you probably wont use most of that stuff anyway. Everything importatn (internet, documents, steam, etc) still has the "x" out

Love reon <3

In windows 8 you don't even have Xs in the corner to close programs? You gotta be kidding me...

I've made a huge mistake.

huh?

Most of the new Windows 8/Windows Store Apps do not have an x to exit out of the program, you have to hit the windows home button on the keyboard and then click back to the desktop. I presume those continue to run in the background, but as an OS Windows 8 is pretty efficient so it's not a huge deal, just annoying. Any programs you install on your own or use still have it. The annoying thing is that when you install it defaults to many of those apps so you have to change your defaults or it will open Windows Pictures or whatever when trying to view a photo (I prefer Photo Viewer or whatever came with older versions).

Basically, just follow the steps to change the settings and you'll only have to deal with it when you occasionally accidentally click on an app and it opens. I think it's meant to be for tablets or phones where you would press one button and then swipe to get rid of an app, but you can't do that with a keyboard and mouse.

Anyways, this should be helpful to do right when you install:

But W10 will use Microsoft's in-development rectal insert haptic interface (lube will be provided with service pack 1). Are you sure that's something you want to wait for?

Are you kidding me? That's gonna be huge. Imagine the implications to colon cleansing when you try to close a program without first closing the dialog box. *DONK* *BZZT!*

If there are any misogynists in this forum, this can go very bad very quickly
Speaking of that, did any of you watch A Serbian Film in October? If not, remember that Christmas is right around the corner. Might be nice to curl up by the television during a family get-together and watch a wholesome, family-oriented movie. Teaches you a lot about the joys of family and parenthood. And that just because you've lost an eye or all your teeth, it doesn't mean you can't have fun.

I actually remember you mentioning this around halloween when i asked for horror movie recs

I looked it up...doesn't sound like it's for me....a bit too cheery and family friendly....if I want to watch a disney movie, I'm gonna watch one BY disney, not some knockoff artist.

If I give up soda for my New Year's resolution, am I ok to drink pop?
You have to move to a part of the country where pop is the predominant way to refer to such a beverage in the region's vernacular.

If you do that, sure

Or you can give up in 5 days like the rest of america

Shit. I've been finishing those programs and then just shoving my computer off the desk and onto the floor. That usually closed them.

Well speaking of GRiD 2, I finally won one from the Intel/Facebook giveaway.,, thanks to the excellent tips from within this very thread.

Also, thanks to the tip on the 35% Ubi coupon I can now spend time between Steam sales camping out the Ubi sale.
I tried to get as close as I could to 2:47 (ended up getting 2:46:56). Since it's somewhat random, it's hard to say the precise time in which you should click the last image. The clock didn't freeze for me either... I just got lucky.
The irony being that I haven't been able to play since I gave you those tips. every day it says I have already won a race and refuses to let me play. No emails still, not in junk/spam folder either.

I usually pass on bundlestars stuff, but I'll buy this to fluff my game count
Be careful fluffing anything just for the hell of it. It can lead to unexpected places: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluffer

Gaming-wise is there any advantage to using Windows 8?  Like will they pull a DX whatever exclusive and your game can't run without it?

wtf

never heard of that...some things can't be unseen bro

Currently there aren't really any advantages or disadvantages of using windows 8 that I know of, for gaming.

Although in the future, naturally there will be some game that MUST be on 8 or higher. No idea when that would happen tho, probably not for a bit. By the time it does, though, a new windows OS will be out that will also be able to run those games. Windows 7 probs won't be obsolete for a good bit

This is all coming from somebody who doesn't really know much about it though and is just speculating, so, yeah

Hmm. I just went to check again, and the email didn't show under Inbox, or Trash or Spam, but did show up under All Mail. I got my code for GRID 2. Weeee. :whee: So it only took me 2 times, first time was 1:39, second time I believe was right at 2:46 or so.
