This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Re Dayz

$29.99 is steep for most CAGs, but the game will likely go up in small increments as it goes from BETA to gold. Thus far, I have easily got my $30 worth just by roaming around with a buddy and laughing at the various bugs. Also crying when we lose our loot. Good fun.

I have a ton of hours put into ARMA2. Like many other games, playing on public servers is very, very hit or miss. The private server I play on almost always involves lots of shenanigans with various ARMA2 mods, and no griefers, cheaters, hacks, or lamers. Domination, Insurgency, DayZ and Dynamic Zombie Sandbox are all pretty fun.

Yeesh.  I'm usually able to find some silver linings in whatever decent-budget AAA (or quasi-AAA) game comes along but Remember Me is really testing the limits of my game Pollyanna-ism.

Community Vote Selection has finally been rigged:

The Jan 3rd date is nothing more than two weeks from the start of the sale. All times/dates are based in US Pacific times cause that is Valve HQ time.

that bad, huh?
Just... boring, I guess. And very hand-holding so I just sort of feel like I'm plodding along through it. Waving my mouse in circles, watching the same scene over and over while I look for graphic flickers to "re-write memories" isn't as entertaining as I just made it sound.

But I'm only on chapter 2 or 3 or something like that so I'll likely give it another hour before writing it off for good.

Using their own local date and time... how arrogant!

I would point out however that today's Dailys end in only 14 hours... all other dailys had a 48 hour run.

Wasn't interested in Valdis Story until I read "metroidvania" and later on "castlevania" here somewhere. Then I go watch some gameplay videos and found some similarities with Symphony of the Night. While watching the videos, I noted the background music.. It was interesting enough so I searched for it and found it is great and on pair with Ys OST!!.

Don't look at me, I voted for it. Naturally OMD2 is the most /facepalm result, so it won. I don't even remember what the other thing was but the price was bad.
I voted for that other game and even I can't recall what it was. lol

All I know was Orchestral Maneuvers In the Dark 2 was obviously the worst choice because of the Humble Jumbo bundle, and I passed on voting for Damned because it's an early access game.

All I wanted was VVVVVV for $0.49.  I started trying to buy it with about a half hour to go before the sale was supposed to end and Steam was down.  It finally started working again literally a few minutes after the sale ended and it was back to $2.49. :wall:

fuck you Steam.

The 200 item limit on the Steam Market has not reset despite it being January.  I'm guessing 'in a calendar year' means from the time of your first sale… or maybe they're just slow to update things.

LOL... I knew, I went against my anti-early-access bias on that one. But your choice had a crappy discount (40% or 50%) and a the dollar amount was $7.50 or more.

hopefully everyone votes for far cry 3 for $7.50.  So far i bought nothing from steam(just amazon) during this sale.  I am still considering picking up battlefront 2 for $7

y u do dis?

I managed to write it off after reading about tight platforming challenges that the controls weren't suitably tight for, and manged to write it off for the moment...

Sorry :D

I'm always searching for the "next castlevania", since SotN was the last good one (ain't played the handheld ones)... And I'm an OST fan, mainly baroque/goth style. You won't believe all the castlevania OST I have, dracula battle Perfect selection 1 & 2 are good examples.

I was able to start selling items again yesterday even though the 200 item limit message was still on the screen.

The message is gone for me now. Yours is still on Valve time.

Good music, good storyline, good controls. 3 good points to warrant a purchase, the game was made with GameMaker: Studio which was given out free sometime ago.

must be from steam. MUST

I was going to say it's not like they were in any hurry to put their last game in a bundle. That was a long time coming for Legend of Fae.

I really like Valdis Story. I actually bought it full price (I know ) on Desura when it first came out in the fall. It really feels like a 90s castlevania style game, and that's a good thing.

It has, to me, more story going on than some other recent metroidvania offerings and it's a bit different both story and gameplay wise depending on which of the two characters you choose in the beginning so there's some replayability.

Supposedly there's two more playable characters coming in a free future update eventually but I think the game is a good complete experience as is.

The bosses are hard even on easy (well for me they are) but even if you suck you can muddle through it if you don't mind being humiliated with a low grade on your battle.
I tried the demo, and the controls seemed a bit sluggish :( Does the character's actions (jumping/fighting) get more fluid as you level up?

I just now realized that I forgot to buy Game Dev Tycoon while it was 50% off. I actually would have played that one right away too. Oh well.

Got to try some Bioshock Infinite tonight. Every 10-15 minutes or so I got crazy graphic artifact glitches. Found I had to roll back my Nvidia driver to 317.22.

Huh.

Here's what was happening:

Oops... Looks like I tried playing the more advanced character first. Need to download the demo again and try some more.

*UPDATE*

The developer is very active on the steam forum. Makes me want to give them my $ based on that alone.

Oh, you bought Father Comstock's Seizures of Salvation DLC? Let me know how that is, I've often thought of convulsing and choking on my own tongue.

Damn you all / Thanks... well one of those. ;)

I'm not a fan of the controls.... but the game is so far so good, I would def buy at this price

I tried with the wired 360 controller, so far so good. I am not sure if this option is available for the demo, select properties of the game in your steam library, then in the beta tab select d_input_test, try and see if it works.

I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks for the tip!
