This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

It's about the only condiment I need.

Most people don't understand how vinegar can make things yummy in ways that don't suspect. Like sushi rice. Or like how a dash of tapatio can really liven up chicken soup... without making it hot (hot+vinegar).

How many cubic materials have you pickaxed? Have you considered you might only be pickaxing at a 5th grade level?
I tried making sushi rice once but ended up with a failed attempt. You need to use a different kind of rice which is the short grain rice so that the rice sticks together, then mixed with sugar, salt, vinegar and a type of rice wine call mirin. I didn't add mirin or maybe I got the proportion wrong, which is why it tasted funny.

Guys, it's a joke. But I think Minecraft is less impressive than Dust, or even possibly Audiosurf, and yet Notch is the only one people seem to recognize.

Brrrrr, although ran to the post office and library today, wasn't as bad as yesterday. I'm in SE MI, Beverly Hills. Looks like we're getting another blast tonight and tomorrow, yea! Hope my team doesn't miss me on Monday! :whistle2:? D'oh, got meetings, guess I gotta go in.....They never plow Woodward early, that should be fun!
Love the Beverly Hills Grille. I live up in Waterford. The only road worse than Woodward is Telegraph.

Oh yeah to be on topic Lost Planet sucks!

I like it too... but again very particular... seeing that in a squeeze bottle makes me think it's the mayo-heavy kind I dislike.

It's a lot of work. There's a good reason Japanese markets sell (fresh) ready-to-use sushi rice.

Who's Notch?

Almost all soups are significantly improved by a splash of vinegar.

And sriracha sauce is amazing.

I know most people don't like vinegar, but I do enjoy my salad with Balsamic vinegar, they are a good substitute for condiments which are higher in calories. Occasionally, I like to make myself a mixed drink which has apple cider vinegar, water and honey but it may not be to everyone's taste.
Erm, yeah, probably not. Various vinegars work quite well in condiment roles, though, true.

Hmmm. Haven't tried that.

And agreed that adding vinegar (or more generally adding acid) is rather essential for a great many recipes.

Somehow as I was trying to catch up on the thread the Colts performed a crazy comeback and won.  WTH?

And in order to remain off-topic, I don't suppose anyone has tried the new Detective Grimoire yet? (Non Steam I know).

But I think Minecraft is less impressive than Dust, or even possibly Audiosurf,
Just curious... you've played it? Your comment seems somewhat dismissive of the complexity of Minecraft. On the surface it seems very simple, but the emergent gameplay is simply brilliant. The crafting is accessible and intuitive, the biomes have become increasingly more sophisticated, the mobs are simple but varied, the ability to create your own adventure is almost unparalleled.

There's a reason why so many have bought into the game. It's extremely addictive.

Personally, i love condiments. If a burger doesn't have mayo, ketchup, and mustard on it, it's missing some flavor.
best condiment ever is

Anyone feeling blue now that winter sale is over? I am doing a small contest to give away a steam copy of Risk of Rain and will let it run for a day.

Just quote this post and answer this question - Make a guess which famous scientist was born on the same day as me?

Those who got the correct answer, I will send you a pm with a link to a private giveaway where the winner will be randomly picked. Please do not share the link so that it is only fair to those who got it correct. Good luck.

Notes:

  • You can have up to 3 choices for your answers.
  • You can change your answers anytime but contest will end at 4th Jan 23:59 PST.

Well I think I made a good move by Nuuveming Bioshock Infinite since Amazon put their price back up to $40. I think it's going on sale again tomorrow but probably for the $13 they had given earlier on the EC list. Faith in my cheap ass skills have been restored.
I'm so glad I picked it up for 3.99 at greenmangaming. I wish they'd give me some more crappy games I can trade in later for credits.

Guys really, I don't need to keep hearing about what your favorite type of condom is.

don't forget to let your hand go to sleep first.

There's condom talk?

*doesn't dare go back a page*
Welcome back!!!

oh my this thread has taken a turn for the worse.............. or is it for the better? :)
um i think it war pasports vs mns who will win the jerk who may or may not be human may or may not be dating gianna michaels or may or may not wear diapers or the kid dating sasha grey who was trying to be nice a friend to mns who rage like big nuts

Wow, so Rocksmith 2014 is truly Steamworks. I bought a boxed copy with the cable and Steam prompted me for my Activation code and not uPlay. It probably uses that in game uPlay but that isn't that bad, it's a hell of a lot better than just uPlay alone because then I can buy DLC on sale.

I am so happy about that.

LATE reply (and no quote), but was asked about the lock out time for steam. reason mine was so short (5 days) was because I was active on it.

For security purposes, resetting a Steam account's password will prevent trading
for a limited period of time. If the account has been accessed regularly this
cooldown will last for 5 days. If the account has not been accessed for two
months before the reset was performed, the trading cooldown will last for 30
days.

I wrote a very long reply to this, but mobile posting hardly ever works for me. Key points are: that the game was in public beta for two years; that it is now being developed by a team; that it is based on the simple concept of dynamic algorithm Voxel manipulation, all of which has existed in game design since Quake III; that the graphics are shallow; that most of its content is user-generated. All of that is recurrent in Audiosurf, a game that came out a year prior to Minecraft alpha. Dust is my go-to game for comparison when a solo project is over hyped, since it was written, drawn, voiced, and programmed by one man and his wife. It's not a perfect game, but it was well-planned and nicely polished for just one guy.

I just think Notch is over hyped, and that Minecraft isn't as revolutionary as people make it out to be. Better than Phil Fish in reputation, assuredly, but uncertain as to development. No, I'm not a successful or rich game designer, but I do do application programming for a living. I know my Assembly from my AJAX. Dylan Fitterer made Audiosurf, BTW. And Dean Dodrill, alias Noogy, made Dust.

I understand that it's a sandbox game, and that lots of people love the freedom it gives the player. Lots of my stoner friends play it religiously. They also loved WoW, but I also find that to be a vacuous time- and money-waster.

There's been some discussion on the Amazon PCDD thread about grouping to play Defiance together, and I thought it might be useful to set up a Steam group. The group is not just for steam games (or even only PC MMO's), it just seemed like an easy way to coordinate things).

Here's the group:

http://steamcommunit...m/groups/cagmmo

It's invite only for now - I don't have a lot of experience with this kind of thing and I'm a little nervous that it might get spammed by people trying to sell ingame stuff. If that's too paranoid let me know and I'll open it up.

Otherwise, I'm not trying to have it exclusive in any way, I'll invite anyone who's interested. PM me with your steam details (if we're not friends already) or add me on steam (also crimsontribe).

Sorry if this is overly complicated, like I said I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing.

I figured out Nuuvem and now have Castlevania and Bioshock Infinite. Yippee!

Now I only need to get a cheap Season Pass for Bioshock.

I couldn't be bothered to use Google Translate to figure out the Nuuvem new account registration so I just hacked Solid-Snake-Eyes' account and used that instead.

Ah, I see. You're looking at it from a completely different side: development.

I'm simply talking about the game, or more specifically the game content and gameplay. It matters not to me how it came to be or what came before it, but rather what it is.

I'm still curious as to whether you've actually played it. You kind of make it sound as if it's a simple pile of blocks when, in fact, there is much much more.

Have to agree to disagree with you on that. The big world is cute but I can't find anything to like in it or Terraria and have not tried any of the wannabes.
