Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Well got duplicates of the most expensive card on my Defenders Quest, so looks like another set I will sell. Meaning I will be paying  less than .80 for this game. Not bad.

So, do you still have to blow into the system?
There is a flaw in the airflow design, one of the side fan should have air flowing in then out to the other in order to have proper air circulation.

Now I have to explain away the pictures of half-naked computers too. ;)

NES, pfft.... do that to a PS2-slim.
I quite like the retro look of NES, maybe a laptop motherboard can fit in but PS2-slim will be difficult for most PC motherboard.

Don't like NES Steam Box? How about NES Mac Mini? :D

I'd literally throw all my money on a Sega Master System case...

Sega-Master-System-Set.jpg
I think literally tossing money on a Sega Master System case would be a huge waste of money.

It might look funny with money scattered all over it, anyways...and likely around it, if you miss when tossing.

Maybe toss Monopoly money on it, or something.

You might wanna toss real money metaphorically on a Sega Master System case, though.

Dunno, the kid in this .gif seems so entertained...

Figured that maybe I'll do the same and enjoy myself for a just cause... which a Steam Master System definitely is :)

Got an email this afternoon, Shadows: Price for our Sins and Viscera Cleanup Detail: Santa's Rampage were added to the January bundle.

I still think this is a pretty good bundle (especially for Indie Gala) overall, and will definitely be picking it up whenever happy hour comes along. Even if you were to buy it now, 5.25 is a good deal for Deadly Premonition alone, let alone the other 9 games it comes with it.

Hmmmm..what if there is no Happy Hour for this bundle? :p

i guess since I had my FamiCom well before my NES, I'm not as fond of the NES styling as most... and the damn sharp corners on the NES controllers (FamiCom controllers have rounded corners).

I have a silver slim PS2 that nicely (visually) complements my MacMini... I particularly like both designs. The size and style of my PS2-slim have ensured that it hasn't been packed away, like my older consoles.

Personally I think the FamiCom has a better design, but ascetically and functionally. I mean, how many consoles have controller holders built into them:

Famicom-Console-Set.jpg

Also echo your dislike of the horrible corners on the original NES controllers; these are the ones I had:

Ah, you had a NES2... I've never encountered one in the wild... They had the superior top-loader design of the FamiCom and lacked the lockout chip that commonly caused the blinking-led issue.

I want to buy DQ but the 90% off makes me think it'll end up in a bundle soon... decision, decisions.
At this price, it doesn't really matter. Just buy it and actually play it, then if it does end up in a bundle, at least you didn't just pay to put it in your backlog.

re: DQ

It's actually pretty decent and I normally hate tower defense. It's got a campaign with a story going on complete with cut scenes. You can play it in short bursts too (yes I said the P word) so it's not a huge commitment. It's easily worth $1.50 in my opinion.

I think I normally dislike tower defense games, too, but I did play a bit of Super Sanctum TD yesterday while it was open anyway for cards, and found it enjoyable. I may have to grab DQ and actually play it.

Since I'm too lazy to write a proper Defender's Quest review, I'll shamelessly repost those from other CAGs

This is an absolutely fantastic little game.

Yes, it's tower defence. Yes, it's fantasy-ish. If either of those put you off, don't let it. This really is one of the best-executed games I've played this year.

The difficulty curve is spot on, the "feel" of the game is a nice balance between OTT planning and casual tower placement, and the whole thing just hangs together very well. It's an asbolute gem.

Greatly recommended. I love it.

My first sleeper surprise this year. Hardly anyone sings praises of Defender's Quest, with its basic visuals, repetitive music, and seemingly cloned gameplay. I'm sure other games have tried combining RPG and Tower Defense (just as Puzzle Quest did with RPG and match 3 puzzles), but I was sucked into this game quicker than I imagined. The story is dumb but you come to like the silly dialogue and characters, and the stages tend to change just enough (at least on higher difficulties) so you have to keep on your toes. Some levels will remove your archers for example, while others may force you to prioritize on certain enemies rather than the collective. This is a great game for people who enjoy Tower Defense with the loot collecting and skill customization of RPGs.

Highly polished on game mechanic. Tower defense fans must try this game. Good humor exchanges among the characters adds color to the story.

Replayability comes with challenges - and you can expect it from this game from its New Game+.

Workshop offers many new contents but at the moment it is rather dull probably because it's still new.

For 5 dollars you can't go wrong.

I'm a tower defense fan.  DQ lacks the graphics and cool guns/bombs/robots etc. of most TD games.  It has a convoluted story and is about some sort of chick and then you get more people and you get to level them up like an RPG and your army grows and then there's more story, rinse, wash, repeat.

So It has a lot of fluff that I think would appeal to the people here.

I hate tower defense games.  Defender's Quest is a tower defense game.

It has some sweet achievements for things like changing settings and options, so I guess I can recommend it based on that.

I Love tower defense games, and DQ is the one I most played. It really is a good game.

Been playing Sanctum 2 today, online, with unknown people (I just went to play and some people joined). I liked it, maybe I'll even buy the season pass and skin pack.

WHenever I see a game is tower defense, I'm like uhhh  fuck that, TD sucks.

Then at some random point when I'm bored and say  fuck it, I'll play this game even though I hate TD...I end up playing for like five hours.

I think I hate it but all the evidence points to me actually liking it.

In conclusion:  fuck tower defense.

Think I might buy defender's quest now.

Yeah, sounds like you love them. The good ones are pretty addictive. I have a harder time playing full on strategy games, but TDs break it down to parts I can handle better.

Caved and bought it, since I had extra card moneyz anyway, and it's pretty damn fun. But then again I like tower defense so I'm not really sure why I was debating it in the first place.

Can you guys get a room please.
lol, y u jelly?

Hello!

Nabbed a few decent deals from this thread so it is time to give back. Yes, these are old games. Yes, most come from bundles. However, I am sure somebody will want them. No point selling them or listing on Steam Gifts. Couple of these are Origin codes. Tell me if you take them.

I3YDE-0HJBE-WG72P - Burnout Paradise (Steam)

5WXP-RGP8-YRYV-NBJ7-HCAS Dead Space (Origin)

GP5V-WXAT-BYUC-XBNT-2PLB Burnout (Origin)

962J-WVG4-PDRA-4R5T-CDER Crisis 2 (Origin)

ET8Y-ENRT-SGQC-GAWJ-YG3W Medal of Honor (Origin)

GLRR-46MC-BZJH-WBXU-JC9C Mirrors Edge Origin

6FNW-PSNE-8VZD-EE8P-MSC4 Command Conquer - Origin

8NBGN-9WKKB-I3PNR - tropico 4 steam edition
nice drop, still waiting for humble origin 2 bundle

fundle bodder

Anyway we could possibly cut down on the pictures? I already have to defend me visiting this video game site all the time to my wife. Explaining away tons of pictures of half naked women makes it a lot more difficult.
sorry, but Countess Burgula was messing with icedragon, she doesn't appreciate all the scantily clad women tebow posts, so she felt like she would give him a real woman to look at.

my deepest apologies to your wife

Count Burgula now speaking

to be fair, she did spoiler it for tebow's eyes only, no looky-loos

Yea, i could go for a drop in the pics also. I love the community here for the most part...but just posting pics of hot girls isn't much of a contribution. I have google for that.
see above response

Buy Defender's Quest at this price.  I bought it for five bucks a year ago, and it was easily worth that then.  Unlike some people, I don't get upset when good games I own go on sale cheaper... so long as I sold off my cards long before the floodgates opened, that is.  ;)

Back in my day, we demanded it as a standard feature.

Colecovision_System.jpg

intellivision.jpg
Woah! That picture of the Intellevision (bottom) brought back some major nostalgia. My cousin had one and let me borrow it when I was about 5ish or so, just a few years before the NES was released. I remember some of my favorites were Armor Battle, Sea Battle, Auto Racing, Math Fun, Snafu (loved Snafu), Burger Time, Donkey Kong, PGA Golf, and Las Vegas Poker & Black Jack. I was hooked for life on video games after that.

And yes, learning Poker and Black Jack at a young age was both fun, rewarding and I had no idea what I was really doing.

The one thing I remember about that controller that frustrated the hell out of me, was trying to fit those pastic card overlays into the slot so it was positioned just above the keypad.

overlay1.JPG
They were fairly necessary if anyone remembers. Maybe it's the fact I was about five and at that age one isn't very tolerant of such chores. Oh the memories.
