Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Cubetractor is $0.99 (90% off) at Humble Store, the game is also in the higher tier of Indie Gala Capsule Bundle.
It's also in the current Flying Bundle which is $3.

Does anyone actually buy from the Humble Store (not bundle)? I feel like their 'deals' are about as good as Gamersgate's, which is to say 95% of the time not.

Plus just seeing a game on there makes me immediately think 'Oh they'll put it in one of their bundles someday' and while I know the same could be said for a game being sold anywhere, it just seems that much more likely to me to see Humbles name attached to it.
I bought Antichamber from their store, and now it's in the current bundle.

You're welcome.

I hardly buy from IGS because very few non-Steam games they offer get Greenlit, and the good games and Steam games they rarely offer are usually cheaper in other bundles because of how often IGS does repeats.

Basically IGS sucks 90% of the time.

It looks like Deus Ex: The Fall will be making the trip from iOS and Android over to Steam.

I assume it'll be short and pretty underwhelming compared to its big brother predecessor based on how mobile games tend to get made, but for the right price I'm happy to see more Deus Ex.

Now its more like 'eww IGS'
Well that too but it came with a Desura key and then when it was on Groupees and people were still 'eww cooties Desura'.

Seriously though this game is fucking hard. I haven't found any checkpoints yet and even if you get past one screen you start back at the beginning if you die. And it's really, really easy to die. Like basically you get armor and if you get hit once you're nekkid and if you get hit a second time that's it. You start over from the very beginning. It's sort of ghosts and gobliny but with a norse-ish style and some really nice calming background music that you need because the game itself is like Flappy Bird frustrating (for me anyway).

Or $1.66 in the Gala Happy Hour... with tons of other games.
There's been speculation that they won't do a happy hour with this one and the Capsule people said they consider the $4 for the first day to be happy hour, but then again it's Indie Gala so who the hell knows? If there's one predictable thing about them it's that they're unpredictable.

Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate is in the Interstellar Gala, which already had the happy hour (and copies came out to $1.66).

Oh duh I can't keep track, they are doing so many damned bundles back and back and concurrently now. So that's the one they yanked today? You might still be able to find some extra copies going around.

So since I see other people do this, I'll join in. Help me decide what to tackle from my backlog next:

Just Cause 2

Assassin's Creed 2 (I also have Brotherhood, Revelations, and AC3 in my backlog)

Mass Effect 2 (was kinda hoping I could get the DLC before I start it though)

Half Life 1 (never finished it)

Star Wars KotOR

Alpha Protocol

Just Cause 2 is my favorite of that bunch, though it may take you a while.

AssCreed 2 is supposed to be a good place to start the series, and I'm assuming you've played Mass Effect 1.

Half Life is a classic, but I'm not sure how well it holds up these days. (Probably still worth a playthrough sometime though)

KotOR for sure. Such a great game.

I've finished ME1 and AC1 already. I'm pretty OCD about playing through series' in order. I've been trying to get through HL1 for about a decade now. I'm really, really bad with mouse/keyboard controls, especially with this game. It just feels like I'm running on ice at all times, and Xpadder doesn't make it any better. I played through a bit of it on PS2 and it seemed interesting, I probably should have finished it there.

As far as my first-game OCD goes, I also have Just Cause 1 which I've never played, but out of my entire collection of Steam games, that's the one game I cannot get to start at all. It locks up at the first loading screen before the main menu, no matter what I do to fix it.

Yup.

There should be a serious limit to the number of connections (I think its 5 members total, so lets say you and two others) to your account and you shouldn't be able to be playing the same game at the same time... but those are the only two limits I can think of that SHOULD be there.
I'd be happy with that even if all the connections have to be on the same IP. That would be real Family Sharing, as if you had the games on disks.

Alpha Protocol because i want to hear your opinion

Mass Effect 2 because it's the best game on there

Half Life 1 because as a pc gamer, you have an obligation to have played it by now

Great reasoning. :D

BTW - AP is severely underrated. As unbalanced as it is, b/c of all of its decision-making causing so much cause and effect - it's still really good.

Despite have the most impeccable taste known to man, thereby despising nearly all AAA console trash ports and pixelated pretentious indie poo, Mass Effect is my weakness. There should be some sort of mandatory global regulation that requires you to play the entire Mass Effect series AND enjoy it or be put to death by firing squad. So, I vote for Mass Effect 2.

Second choice would be Half-Life 1.

I just finished Mass Effect 1 here recently for the first time, and it was one of the best games I've ever played. Once I read that Alpha Protocol was Mass Effect + James Bond, it was an instabuy.

ur wellcome join the compaanyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy heh or u will parish in blood cold bllooded!!!!

Whatever you do DO NOT play Mass Effect 2. Worst game ever.

[customspoiler=?]Seriously, I couldn't make that any more yellow/comic sans-ey if I tried. Play Mass Effect 2 because it's the best game ever. If you or anyone disagrees I will hunt you down and force you to read a dissertation on the merits of gorillas wearing adult diapers penned by tebow.[/customspoiler]

Yeah, I remember reading about it when it was on Groupees. It's a one life only Permadeathy kinda game. That's why I didn't pick it at the time, cos I'm naff at games like that now. Back when I was a kid/teen I had the patience and persistence to attempt to finish a game without infinite lives and retrys. Not anymore. Kids these days don't know they're born 'n stuff.
