Excitebike is probably worth about half of what you paid for the lot.
now you see I would have probably just passed on them since they aren't my type of game and don't own and never owned a Sega Saturn. I should really look up what games are rare/valuable for when I go to thrift stores/yard sales/flea markets
Well the odds of finding a Panzer Dragoon Saga are so minoot that it wouldn't even be worth attempting, I just got extremely lucky today.

There is a variety of amounts that different people claim were made of the game. The first accepted amount of copies made were 10,000, but some say 30,000, and others say 5,000.

Adding to the fact that most are securely in the home of a collector I would think, it's almost impossible to find this game. That's why I was stunned to find it especially for $3. There was like 25 Saturn games there all for $3 each and since they all had the original case I'm assuminmg they came from the same source. Most likely that source donated them to Goodwill for free. I wonder if they knew what they were donating.

If you check Ebay these go for over $200.
Is $20 for a white xbox 360 HD DVD player w/everything, in the box (e.g. has cables, remote, king kong, etc.) a good deal?

I know its a dead format...but $20 is hard to say no to... It just sucks that it is white and my xbox is black is all (aside from the whole fact that hd dvds are no longer manufactured and all).

Primarily interested just as a novelty...
I use mine as a dvd drive for my netbook.

A funny story about Panzar Dragoon Saga is that supposedly Sega lost the original master code for the game, so it will never be re-released.

I've heard that and I've also heard that about House of the Dead for Saturn which is why on Wii it only had House of the Dead 2 & 3 but not 1.

If they really wanted to they could re-make them from scratch, but nobody should hold their breath.

I just mean knowing the very rare/valuable NES/SNES/N64/Sega Saturn/Atari/Sega Genesis games so when I am looking for games for my own collection if I see one of those rare/valuable titles I know to pick it up

Thanks a lot! The only thing really keeping it from being mint/complete is it's missing one white sleeve. Well it also has 3.00 written in marker small on the front case but I can get that off.

Where in Texas are you Potatoeman? I am also in Texas, Lubbock.

Last Friday I got home alone 2 for the snes it was eh I bought it for $1.50 at goodwill I need to clean it up a bit. Zombietoast is the only other cag I know here in town and I'm sure these 2 local video game Astor's have been taking out any scraps of old retro stuff because the staff there say that the same people wearing working shirts for Otto's and gamestor come by every day. This has made things difficult for me.

I hit Savers to return a xbox 360 core/no cords that I bought for $19.99 that wasn't working and in the span of 45 minutes I saw 14 people check out the video games. One guy is a scanner that I know from garage sales, one was my nemesis from garage sales, and 4 others had their phones out looking stuff up. I had already pulled the good stuff, but it just shows how much traffic that store gets.
Nice try.

I'm gonna hold on to it for awhile because the value should just continue to go up on it.

This is actually the 3rd time I've owned Panzer Dragoon Saga.

First time: Around 1998 wheb it first came out I was kinda young like 16ish bought it at Toys R Us retail for $49.99. Then I was the dumbass to sell it to a pawn shop for $10.

Second time: 2009 had pretty good income coming in and bought it for $210 off Ebay. Ending up beating the team and sold it for about the same on Ebay.

And this is the third.

That would of be hilarious if this was the copy I sold the first time back in 1998. There can't be too many copies of it in my town I wouldn't think.
You are different than me. At this point I don't hold on to games anymore. I wouldn't ever doubt some sort of Panzer Dragoon Trilogy release from the saturn sometime. I just don't trust games not getting reprinted or getting released digitally now.

Savers as a whole is pretty hip to game, and generally prices their stuff high enough to make it not worth flipping. I've been to several Savers stores that price games right in line with Amazon Marketplace, so they definitely have the people sorting stuff do their research. Savers is also not a non-profit or charity either, so I can't get quite as angry at them for their stupid high proces as I do with Goodwill.

San Antonio, not too too far

It won't happen for several reasons - chief among them is that SEGA lost the source code to PDS. GameTap was trying to release it several years ago for PC and just couldn't pull it off. To top things off, the Saturn had 7 processors (7!) so emulating the console is notoriously difficult. As another poster mentioned, the game would need to be rebuilt from scratch for re-release. Do you really think a company that's hemorrhaging money would bother funding the complete re-construction of a game that was a commercial flop? No. Plus, members of the original development team committed suicide because it was so much work. SEGA doesn't want to relive that.

Panzer Dragoon Saga is one of the very few games I would actually consider reprint proof.

I bought my copy in 2008 for a little over $200 and it now routinely sells for more than $300. It's only going to go up as mre copies find their way into permenant collections.

The only way a re-release would happen would be if someone miraculously recovered all the game's source code. It's happened before so it could happen here, it's jut not likely.

There are Saturn emulators. A couple years ago Sega hired the guy who made one of the best. It could be released without the source code. Just need a Saturn emulator they can use which would not be easy but would pay off beyond just Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Bing is correct, because I have also a rom of PDS that plays perfectly on the emulator I have for it. :p

This emulator I use emulates just about every Saturn game perfectly.

I don't think piracy is right for current gen because you're costing the developers money while the games are in stores. But once they are no longer findable at retail they become fair game imo. I mean yes I'm considering selling my copy of PDS and I'll make $200, but why should someone HAVE to buy that game that way? They're going to put money in my pocket, but I'm not a developer. Just got lucky and found it. So I see nothing wrong with emulating Saturn and most older stuff.

Doesn't surprise me; the thrift stores around here are always bare but I know there are still a lot of retro games floating around this town. The only one that ever seems to have anything is the Goodwill over by Winco. And I've never seen an SNES game for only $1.50 around here. I should check out that Thrifty Thrift again sometime, if they're still open. I doubt they get much new stuff, but I was pleased with all of those Atari games, so it's worth a shot.

Oh, and there's at least one other Bakersfield CAG, but I've only seen him post once or twice. And one of the guys at Toys R Us told me he comes on here, but I don't know if he has an account.
OMG I cannot believe the score I just got. I went to a Goodwill close to my house. For $3 each I got

PANZER DRAGOON SAGA COMPLETE MINT $3
PANZER DRAGOON II ZWEI COMPLETE $3
PANZER DRAGOON COMPLETE $3
NIGHTS INTO DREAMS COMPLETE $3
RESIDENT EVIL SATURN COMPLETE $3
SONIC 3D BLAST COMPLETE MINT $3

I just paid $19.49 for all 6 of these games. I'm trying to find my camera so I can takes pics.
IMO this gets my vote for find of the year, I wonder who donated all these games, considering that finding ANY Saturn game around here that is complete and doesn't have a cracked case would be an extremely rare circumstance. You won't find this stuff anymore in the backroom of a Kmart, Walmart or Toys R Us so that is out. But let alone finding the rarest of the rare, and multiples of it. I have only seen Saturn games at one house here and I have been going to sales for something like 12 years, though that same house has had a sale on more than one occasion and has put out Saturn games on more than one occasion, which is just weird. Its like they have a stash of Saturn games and just put one out each time they have a sale. Heck even all the sellers at the fleamarket tell me that they don't bother stocking Saturn games because they just don't sell. If you want to buy Saturn games at Play N Trade here they charge $60-90 per game, even for the commons.

Ty, yeah I felt like I dreaming when I saw it there, it was surreal. I don't know that there's many or anybody that has had the history I have with that game, I mean how many people can say they've owned Panzer Dragoon Saga 3 times? It was in a case when you first walk in, there was probably about 40 Saturn games all in the original case so my guess is it was one person who donated them all. I didn't even know the price but I asked the cashier to get them out and when I saw $3 on there I was like just wow. Most of the other ones were like Tomb Raider, Myst etc... games that have no value and have no value to me either. But I couldn't believe it.

For years I've searched every place in my city that sells used games for deals. I once found Suikoden II and Valkyrie Profile for $2 each at a movie/game rental place. That was the best find for me and a damn good one IMO, but this topped it.

Anyway, I will stop there because I'm sure some are getting sick of hearing about it.

Honestly, for $3 each, I probably would have just bought it all. Buying Saturn cases online will run you at LEAST $3 each with shipping.

Not a huge find, but picked up a Mt Dew Edition Xbox for $35. More than I would usually pay for an Xbox, but I have been on the hunt for one of those green bastards for a long while.

Also picked up a CIB Garmin Forerunner 405 GPS-enabled watch for $20. It works great and I was going to keep it, as I'm trying to get back into running, but for a probable ~$100 profit, it's hard to hold on to something so trivial.

Didn't say it was impossible, just that it was difficult. IIRC Guardian Heroes had to be rebuilt from source code for it's release last year. If Treasure needed original source code in some capacity - I'd imagine SEGA would need it as well. I really don't think they'll ever bother re-releasing PDS.

Yesterday I found a 95 Epiphone G-310 for about $60. Not the best find I've ever had, but I am interested in learning to play it, so it was a good deal for that.

Found Shenmue II (near mint) for xBox today at the goodwill store. Was complete with the animated film. Quite pleased for spending $4.24!!
ZT is the flea market in Oxnard still around? Haven't been there in 5 years.
The one off the 101 at the old drive-in? I wish. I was hoping to go when I was in town a few months ago, but after a bit of research, I found out that they stopped doing it a while back and the place is overrun by weeds and trash. It's possible that there may still be one somewhere else in town, but that specific one is gone. Which is a damn shame because it was huge and I used to find so many great things.

Yeah I used to go there and Uncle Herb's alot with my dad when he lived there but he passed away and haven't been there since. I remember he got me Tekken 2 at a pawn shop one day lol

He also said Topper's Pizza was good but I never got to go there either.

I go Goodwill spelunking every now and then and rarely find anything noteworthy, but a few days ago one of mine had :ps3:Civilization Revolution and :br:Star Trek. $5 each. Crazy.

They also had Final Fantasy X but the disc was pretty scratched.

Sorry to hear about your dad. I guess visiting now just wouldn't be the same. And it wouldn't help that a lot of stuff has changed in just the last few years. Until moving 10 years ago, I had been living there my whole life, so going back recently has been so odd to me. Malls are missing, houses have become shopping centers, the beach has been remodeled(!), my favorite skating rink is gone, and even my old neighborhood has been fixed up and it looks like there isn't quite as much gang activity there now. I'm really sentimental about the whole area, so the changes are weird for me, but it's still such a beautiful place if you know where to go.

Oh, and this might sound crazy because I know it's such a staple, but I've never been to Uncle Herb's. I didn't realize it until recently, but we almost never ate out anywhere when I was a kid. And when we did, it was always the same places (Anne's Bakery, Yolanda's, H. Salt, and a few others). I always heard good things about Herb's, so I was going to try it, but they unfortunately closed down a few years ago.

As far as games go...if you're ever in the area for any reason, the GameStop over at the Centerpoint Mall is probably the best one I've ever been to. They don't seem to get much business, so they've still got a lot of good classic games lying around that nobody has snatched up yet. It feels more like an old hobby shop than part of a soulless corporation. And there used to be an awesome liquidation store where I bought a new copy of Suikoden II for $5. There also used to a cool Warhammer store...called Wizards, I believe. I've never been into that stuff, but I always enjoyed visiting. And I don't know if this is still the case or not, but the yard sales in Oxnard used to be amazing when I was a kid!

Yeah I remember Oxnard was getting a lot of new housing but I don't know any of those projects were affected by the market crashing. Some of the neighborhoods looked kinda rough but like you said there are nice places if you know where to go. I just remember going to Port Huenene a lot since he was retired Navy and maybe we would go to the nice mall in Ventura but that was pretty much it.

Okay no more going off topic lol

Went into a new thrift store that opened up a month or two ago, there was an old guy in there running it and from looking around I could tell that he priced everything based on what he wanted not by looking online, which is good.

Bad news is, I apparently have competition because I asked him if he ever gets many old video games like Nintendo or anything and he said "there's some guy that comes in her every week or so and he buys up any video games I have, I don't know why he wants that stuff".

Dammit.

Found this CIB for $0.25 at a junk store that usually sells stuff like salvage white goods and building supplies but also has some boxes of random junk.

Picked up a minty CIB copy of Champions Return to Arms :pS2: for $2 at a local thrift today. That's two copies that I've found in just over a week, the other from a crap flea market for $3.

Found a few things...

Vanguard Bandits-Shame it's missing the other disc but I figure someone could use a case.
F.E.A.R.
Broken Sword: The Smoking Mirror
US Acres (I didn't know he actually published these in books)
Bionicle Roodaka (Not a fan of Bionicle, I want to flip it for MORE Lego)

EDIT: Oh wow, the Lego had never been opened...don't know why it's taped up but everything is in there.

Probably some collector that passed away and parents just donated stuff like media and books, etc.

Can't see any other reason that any person who has kept games like that in good condition for 10+ years wouldn't know not to donate them to a thrift shop.

Or they could of had a religious experience "God told me to donate these to Goodwill"

;)

I seriously think this may have been my copy originally. I bought it at launch and sold it to a used record, movie and game store. It's possible maybe they just dumped it off to Goodwill thinking it's "just an old Saturn" with the others. My city only had it at one place, Toys R Us.

Nobody will ever know for sure how it got there, but I'm just glad I went in there when I did.

Anyway sorry I'll shut up about it.

I've always kinda considered putting a small dot in permanent marker on one of the black sections of the coverart or the inside of a dual sided coverart just so that I would know that the copy I'm rebuying was mine at one point. I only shudder to think about what happened to all of my complete and mint condition copies of the games I had back in the Genesis and PS1 eras, especially if they ended up getting sent to a Gamestop after they swallowed up EB Games(where I traded them all back in the day).:puke:

I keep imagining some lil kids who shredded the manuals/coverarts and used the carts/discs as teething rings or otherwise abused the hell out of them.:cry::whistle2:#

Picked up a few things today

Call of Duty: Modern Warefare 3 (PS3) = $7.99
Gran Turismo 2 (PS1) = $2
Midway Presents Arcade's Greatest Hits/ The Atari Collection 1 (PS1) = $2
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One (Xbox) = $1

Everything was in pristine condition. I had to do a double take when I saw MW3 for $8. :D
Today my Goodwill had complete Married With Children 32-DVD set for $3.

A disc.
I hate when Goodwill pulls that "price per disc" crap.

Very nice haul.

Had a good day today.

Dreamcast console w/ controller and memory card. A little dirty but works perfectly.

All for Gamecube. Wind waker, Paper Mario and Sonic Mega Collection.

All of this for 25 bucks. 15 for dreamcast 3 for each game.

Already took wind waker and a bunch of other duplicates I have to trade into a local gameshop. Got 5 dreamcast games a vmu and Suikoden V for a decent price. So stoked about today. I wasn't even going to go out.
