Top 10 scariest games?

Silent Hill 2. I remember some scary parts of Phantasmagoria as well. And a few scenes in Bioshock, especially towards the beginning.

Was never realty scared in Doom, cept dark rooms with pinkies.

I'm not into survival horror, so I haven't played too many games with scary bits. The campaign mission in Halo where you find Pvt. Jenkins was genuinely scary, though.

There's some parts of games I have found creepy, as opposed to scary - present-day Nibelheim in Final Fantasy VII and the hidden areas in the testchambers of Portal are two that come to mind.

the first manhunt was actually pretty good.

For the pc sanitarium had some good moments actually. the first phantasmagoria was good as well.

My problem with games like Alan Wake and Dead Space is that you become desensitized after a while. It gets routine when killing enemies and you start expecting when they will pop out.

Right now I'm playing Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and I think the psychological part when the game profiles the player is creepy as hell. I think it's a concept that could become more terrifying than any monster if done well enough.

I hear Amnesia is scary, and from the videos I've seen I agree.

That's only a problem if you're in it for the jump scares though. I've never been a fan of that kind of stuff personally.

I know Doom has been mentioned but I think Heretic that came later was a bit more polished with the scares. As far as FPS and monster placement is concerned.

Alien Vs Predator was another one that created that feeling of dread.
I told him that it was an amazing game but it showed me things that I never want to see again.
