Top ten sega saturn games are?????

i have nights, so but i will look for the others. is legend of oasis any good? and where is the best place to get saturn games?
die hard arcade
shining force 3
panzer dragoon saga
Just want to point out that the poster asked for the top ten that he should get. There is very little chance of getting Panzer Dragoon Saga, or Shining Force 3 for that matter, at a reasonable CAG price.

LOL, it seems everyone's having a hard time even coming up with 10 good games for the Saturn. You should change the topic to TOP FIVE GAMES FOR SEGA SATURN.

so die hard trilogy for 12.99, clockwork knight 29.99, good deals? panzer dragoon saga 69.99? too bad there is no buy it button for that one

honestly i dont like saturn much (prolly cuz i cant play imports) but theres still at least 3 times the # of games id want on saturn than on xbox, and thats gotta count for somethin ^^

NiGHTS
Panzer Dragoon(s)
Guardian Heroes
Radiant Silvergun
Purikura Daisuken
Dragon Force
Virtua On
Magical Drop(s)
Puyo Puyo(s)
Burning Rangers
Shining Force(s)
Gungriffon
Sonic Jam

There's tons of great games!!

My own Top 10, in no particular order:

Dragon Force (one of the most sought after strategy RPG)

Iron Storm (awesome war game with some tasty cinematics, but it gets old tho. Thank goodness the game is so good)

Panzer Dragoon Saga (best 32bit RPG, although it is alittle short. Only RPG I will ever play more than once)

Nights (weird game, it gets better when you know what you are doing even though the game is super easy to finish)

Radiant Silvergun (too bad it is so expensive, but well worth it IMO)

Saturn Bomberman (10 player simultaneous!)

Marvel Vs Street Fighter (incredible Capcom conversion, nearly flawless)

Battle Garrega (another great shooter)

Virtua Fighter 2 (I still love this game, but of course VF4e is really the only VF you ever need)

Virtua Cop 2 (one of my favorite gun games)

Shining Force 3

I'd agree with most of what's been listed already, and I'd also add Shining the Holy Ark.

There were a lot of fun games I had for my Saturn, such as Shining Wisdom or Albert Odyssey, but neither was quite good enough that I'd recommend searching for them now.

I'd also add:

Sega Rally
Tempest 2000
Baku Baku Animal
Dark Savior

There are certainly more too, if I can bring them to mind.

for 28 bucks you can get an Action Replay. It is totally worth it

I would absolutely tell you to get Iron Storm. It is my favorite all time game. If you like turn based strategy games, you have to get this one. I have played it 3 times as each of the 3 different militaries. Does anyone know if there was ever an English translation of Iron Storm 2? ( I only heard of the Japanese version, kind of hard to play when I cant read what it says on screen)

action replay works to play imports? is it reliable? does it have room for saves on it?

i have a gameshark right now, and i love how much room it has for saves!

There was Panzer Saga at this used games/music store near me for 10 bucks a couple months ago but I didnt get it cuz I didnt have a saturn and didnt know how rare it was...I could kick myself in the ass for not getting it

The action replay allows for imports as well as the ability to play 1MB and 4MB required games. Save wise it has like 8500 blocks and works great.

only complaint I have is KOF 96 gets a little pixalated at times, but besides that its amazing.

X-Men vs. Street Fighter has no load times because of the device and is pretty much arcade perfect. IMO it was worth the 28 bucks because for fighting games, Japanese is not all that big of a hinderence.

as far as reliability goes, everyone has stated that the kinks have been worked out and its pretty much perfect. I got mine from play-asia in 8 days and shipping was really cheap

i will look into that, thanks!

it is def. worth looking into. imports were the only reason I got a Saturn(mainly because of all the SNK and CAPCOM fighters)

some have some bad load times, but most do not (samurai showdown and X-men are amazing with their minimal load times)

I forgot Vampire Savior, that is one incredible 4meg only Capcom conversion.... it is my favorite 2D fighter on the system.
There was Panzer Saga at this used games/music store near me for 10 bucks a couple months ago but I didnt get it cuz I didnt have a saturn and didnt know how rare it was...I could kick myself in the ass for not getting it
I seriously doubt it was Panzer Saga. EVERYBODY knows how much that is worth.

Well, here's what I'd probably consider my top ten... (in no particular order, of course!)

Virtua Fighter 2 (or replace it with Fighter's Megamix)
Sega Rally
Shining the Holy Ark
Dead or Alive (jp)
Shining Force 3 (i'm still bitter about not getting parts two and three)
Magic Knight Rayearth
Street Fighter Alpha II
Nights
Thunderforce V (jp)
Panzer Dragoon Saga

I'd give out a few honorable mentions as well...

Darius Gaiden
Panzer Dragoon I
Panzer Dragoon Zwei
Dark Savior (from the creators of Genesis Landstalker, though not as good)
Daytona USA Championship Edition (although, if you have DC Daytona don't bother)
Galactic Attack
Sonic R
Legend of Oasis
Albert Odyessy (although I only barely suggest this one)
Power Slave
Manx TT
Hang On GP (I like this one, most don't)
Astal
Skeleton Warriors (if you like great soundtracks and so-so action games)
Guardian Heroes (Treasure)
Dracula X: Nocturne in the Moonlight (Castlevania: SotN, jp only)

There are a lot of other good games, but many of them are also available on the PlayStation and much easier to find.

If you're into Fighters, Fighters Megamix is a must have, along with Street Fighter Alpha(zero) 1-3 (3 is import only), and the Street Fighter Collection. Also Golden Axe, the Duel is another fun fighter.

Sega Rally, Manx TT, and Sonic R are all pretty fun racers, as is Daytona, but the quality of that can be put in question.

Courier Crisis is another fun game, Crazy Taxi style, the virtua cops are fun shooters, as well as several other fun games... but that's my two cents

Hey at least it isn't Sega Touring Car, now there was a mess! I loved both Saturn Daytonas when they were new, but again I must stress that the DC Daytona makes them sort of a moot point IMO, unless you don't have a DC that is :D

i strongly suggest you get all the import games you can. a major amount of great jpn SS games did not make it to the us market. its hard to find auth. copies but bootlegs are also dying. (downloads) i have some for trade that im letting go in my sig.

also pick up imports:
clockwork knight 2
wangan
king of fighters 94-99

also remember saturns have the capability to play SNES games. but you should find that out on your own.

Well here are mine...

Dragon Force
Guardian Heroes (best game on the system IMO)
NiGHTS
Christmas NiGHTS
Marvel Super Heroes
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Panzer Dragoon
Panzer Dragoon II Zwei (I had both of the Panzers and I regret giving them away to this day)
Fighters Megamix
Virtua Fighter 2

I only listed games which I have actually played.

I had my first problem with my Action Replay. Games would not play, but after resetting the system memory (blue button next to battery) it worked fine

GameShark lets you play imports too. Try it sometime. I started out with a GameShark...but eventually it died on me, and I got some crappy import cart.

Sorry to bump such an old topic but...... I'm looking to get a Saturn and need some more game recomendations, what about good imports that don't rely to much on knowing Japanese, any suggestions?

Wow! Excellent list. Now if I only knew where to find all these games cheap...

Ouch, you saw Saga and didn't buy it, I feel your pain. I had a choice at a Toys R Us to buy either Saga or Rebel Assault 2 for the PSX. I paid $50 for a game I could have gotten now for $3, and gotten a game that's worth twice what I paid. Oh well, live and learn.

The problem with the "best" Saturn games is that most of the supposed best are rere. Here are some non-rare games that are good.

Nights: Fun game

Christmas Nights: It was free in magazines, but now can run you a few bucks. But, the Christmas bonuses make it worthwhile.

Panzer Dragoon I and II. II is the better game by far, but the first one, though graphically iffy, is still fun, and the music is unbelievalble.

Mr. Bones: This is a very unusual game, but its fun. It just has a feeling and a musical quirkiness that you don't get in many games. A love it or hate it game, but I love it.

I just picked up a Saturn with Shining the Holy Ark, Shining Wisdom, and Panzer Dragoon II. Also picked up an action replay 4 in 1, an extra battery, and two extra controllers. Thanks for the recommendations. I definitley plan on getting more of the games listed, it just sucks that some of those are rare and cost way too much.
I had my first problem with my Action Replay. Games would not play, but after resetting the system memory (blue button next to battery) it worked fine
Sorry to revive an old thread, but I have a problem and I don't know how to fix it.

My 4MB Action Replay won't play X-Men vs Street Fighter, and my Saturn doesn't have a Memory reset button. Is there any other way to make it work or to reset the system memory?

There are different versions of the action replay that play certain ram cart games. I remember the earlier versions couldn't play Vampire Savior (Darkstalkers 3). It might be the version of your action replay that is causing you problems. ;)

After Edit: I think Gamefaqs.com has an FAQ on it.

The 4in1 cart faq on gamefaqs says that most of the Action Replays have problems playing later 4MB capcom games that were produced after X-Men vs. Street Fighter, but there aren't any reported problems with X-Men vs. Street Fighter itself.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found out the problem after reading a different FAQ. The store I bought it from put the 1MB Ram Action Replay in the 4MB Ram Action Replay box. Gosh Darnit, I was really exited about playing it. Thanks for the help though Morpheus.

(Hi everyone! Just joined today and it's nice to see some Saturn lovin'! :))

Radiant Silvergun
Guardian Heroes
Fighters Megamix
Metal Slug
Shining Force 3
Saturn Bomberman
Nights
Any 4Meg Capcom fighting game (don't make me pick!)
