Loved MVP's opening promo - he talked some good shit about NYC, Miley, and dressed like Sonny Crockett - so he was a win. Then the Innovator of IHOP came down to put MVP over, bury King, and said that Lashley FINALLY lived up to his potential. Well, that's accurate. The Lashley-Dreamer match itself was nothing special, but did have a great bit where Taz said Dreamer, in jogging pants and a t-shirt, wasn't in his gear.

Taryn-Madison was really good and the X division 6-man tag filled time and wasn't completely without merit thanks to Low-Ki. The Roode-EY promo took up a lot of time, but got enjoyable by the end. The Bro Mans Tinder Games bit was amusing and should serve as an entertaining way to bring Brooke back. EC3-Rhino was enjoyable. I loved EC3 doing the Stinger splash and howl, and Spud being scared to death of EC3 after the chair beating of Rhino. This EC3 character has been a fantastic audition tape for an IC-level return to WWE for Derek Bateman.

I loved The Great Sanada's reveal. The look and overall act is a win, beyond the gold and black paint. The paint should always match the gear. Sanada and Aries have really underrated chemistry, and are a guaranteed good-to-great match every time out. I loved Aries doing a back to back apron buckle bonk spot - haven't seen it before. Sanada is far better as a Muta expy than Stardust is for Goldust - Sanada clearly understands the core character.

The entire Chris Melendez presentation was one of the best things in company history. I had a tear in my eye over the whole thing - this is one of the best things they've ever done. So much so that the crowd is even crying over it. The main event 3-way was fantastic, with everyone hitting signature stuff and getting good nearfalls. Team 3D won with their move after everyone had a chance to shine, and this was a must-watch edition of the show overall - the second hour was the best since Destination X, or whichever show had the Hardys-Wolves match on it.

I enjoyed the show for the most part - but thought it was the weakest of the NYC tapings overall. With that said, I thought Chris Melendez' debut was nauseating. It far surpassed Cena or post-Hollywood Rock levels of pan handling. BUT, I recognize that a tearjerker / patriotic debut is overall good for business, especially if casual viewers who saw him on the Today Show (or Good Morning America?) were tuning in to follow up.

The NY tapings have been hot or cold - but they're definitely trying for high-end main events, except for last week's six sides of steel thing. That show was like an endless Raw.

Apparently Jake is unconscious in a Vegas hospital and having significant brain and lung issues, apparently caused by pneumonia.

Thus far I've only seen this on NEWZ sites, so hopefully it turns out not to be legit...although I don't think anyone would be surprised to hear about Jake having health problems. EDIT - Kizarny is with him and confirmed it, he's "resting" now, still in pretty rough shape.

Loved the Roman-Seth opening video. Ambrose came off like a top-level guy being in it too. Roman-Bray being done for absolutely no reason annoyed me. Bray has no affiliation with the Authority right now, and neither guy feels like they should be doing matches against each other at this point in time. The match itself was solid, and I loved Show and Henry saving Reigns and forming TEAM BLACK AND BLUE GEAR! Seth-RVD was fine - double buckle bomb finish was a tad wonky, but set that up more as a killer move for Seth. Emma-Paige was a backdrop for Paige-AJ, and led to some amazing facial expressions and Tom being buried for referencing, and looking like Forrest Gump. This led to a Network plug where they seemed to imply that if you didn't get the Network, you were like Forrest Gump.

Rusev-Swagger saw Cole, the face, point out how many times Swagger has lost - which JBL noted meant Jack's spent half the feud out cold. This was their best match yet, and I loved the spot where Jack gets one arm free, trapped again, gets the other arm free, and gets stopped again before FINALLY GETTING A ROPE. Then it got a tad worse with Bo throwing a towel in, but not being named - he was shown after though, tripping up Jack and causing the loss. He hit his fisher, and needs a new one - it's bodogshit. Jimmy-Stardust and Sheamus-Mizdow were nothing, but at least the latter was amusing thanks to Miz. MAIN EVENT FEATURED BIG SHOW DOING A SUNSET FLIP. I really hope Show's career never ends - he'd be so good as an occasional guy if he can't do full-time work for long. Show followed this up by doing a dropkick and generally outclassing Roman in every single way. Show was just THE MAN here. This wound up being Roman's best match since the end of the Shield - in hindsight, they should've kept him as a tag guy for longer, because he comes off so much better in that role than a singles one. This match made the whole show worthwhile.

Have they ever said where in New Jersey/New York the 2015 edition of SummerSlam will be located? I was kind of wondering if they were planning to do a stadium show at MetLife Stadium.

No but, since they're including New Jersey in it, I'm guessing the Izod Center.

Quite the exciting weekend for wrestling judging by the amount of posts.

I finally caught up on Impact and overall I've been very pleased with the batch of tapings they did in NYC.  Hopefully they can work things out with Spike over that ridiculous Russo problem.

Well, I've heard the PWG Battle of Los Angeles has been good. But I didn't get to go for reasons I won't get into now. For those same reasons, I missed seeing this in person at last Sunday's Championship Wrestling From Hollywood TV taping:

It aired last night. I avoided spoilers as usual. The man from Hoboken, New Jersey, who weighs in at "202 cans of beans", defeated "Mirror Image" Ricky Mandel (from Sexy Beach, California) in a Dumpster Match to capture the Championship Wrestling From Hollywood Heritage Heavyweight Championship!

It's obviously an indie style promotion, but this really has been a well built title chase and The Hobo has gotten over strong with the CWFH fans. He's competent enough in the ring to back it up on the level he's competing at currently.

I'm hoping DirecTV sooner or later gets MavTV in HD since Championship Wrestling From Hollywood airs on there.
Yeah, it is strange how the local LA channel, KDOC, broadcasts in HD while at the same time, MavTV airs the show in standard def and is always 2 episodes behind. I didn't think anyone here knew or cared that they were on MavTV.

Finally. It's been rumored for months. I am very happy for him, but now even more pissed that I was screwed out of going to BOLA to see his last PWG match. Unless something was taped to air this coming Saturday night, Willie is still in possession of a CWFH Heritage title shot.

Willie Mack is a really nice guy and hard worker with a legitimately interesting life story. I was in the front row when he beat Scorpio Sky for the (then-NWA) CWFH TV title. Met him afterward.

The show opened with one of the worst "5,000 guys say 1,000 words" deals that peaked with either Jericho being shocked by Cena or HHH saying HE RUNS THE WWWE! Also, a 6-man tag was made to set up a new possible challenger in the NoC main event match. Miz/Cesaro-Sheamus/Dolph was fun, but the finish should've been a DQ. Still, I dug Miz getting a pinfall win on Raw and him getting a makeup artist and Sandow as his official entourage rules.  Divas 6-man was awful, but Eva Marie's setup and selling of a double dropkick was hilariously bad.

Wyatts faced Show/Henry in their worst match yet. Lana came out to seemingly make the Nyett Family, and Rusev caused a DQ. Heyman cut an okay promo, but nothing too special. Axel-Swagger was a backdrop to a stupid Bo Dallas angle. The Bunny helped Rose beat Titus setting up and I quote "We've got some serious stuff tonight with the Bella twins." Lordy. Nikki did Brie's exams for her so she could graduate high school. Okay then. Rusev killed Ryder, and then HENRY SAVED THE SHOW with a fantastic promo. Swagger had a nothing match with Axel to maybe set up a match with Bo, who now has folks with him that lost everything due to Jack being a loser. Titus lost via  bunny distraction to Rose, and the Bellas acted mid-ring while Paige stole the show with facial expressions. They announced Bray-Jericho in a cage next week, and furthered the Dust Bros. as a heel act by having them destroying Jimmy's knee after having Goldust cheat to beat him with the Final Cut. Henry cut an awesome promo with Show about wanting Rusev and not wanting Show to help him at ringside - HE GOTTA DO IT ON HIS OWN! Authority came out to kill more time before the main event. It was a fun match, but I could've done without Seth being made to look like an idiot in the post-match.

The crowd was so dead at times it was actually comical.

The Michael Sam stuff was the most pathetic stunt they've tried in a while. What a joke.

A few providers have MavTV in HD but not many. I believe DirecTV will once they get more bandwidth with the new satellite launching soon. I've only watched it a few times since I tend to forget when MavTV airs new episodes but hopefully once they get in HD I'll make a better effort to watch more.

It was very funny during the Bella crap you could hear like 10 people screaming BORING it was that dead silent. Watching the Monday Night War series it's funny how they look at the mistakes they made when WCW was rising but don't realize they are making worse mistakes now with the current product.

As far as Michael Sam all I can think of is if he's really there how bad the live crowd will react and how much muting/censoring the WWE will do. The WWE should be thankful they aren't in Philly next week but I suspect the Baltimore crowd won't be too thrilled to have the show hijacked with the worst gay publicity stunt since the Billy & Chuck wedding that didn't get the nicest reaction during the live taping of that particular Smackdown (and trust me the WWE did a great post production edit job fest on that).

I clicked over to Raw two times; first time I see Bo Dallas involved in an angle. The second time I see Adam Rose getting a win. So much for those nonsense reports on the internet about how WWE was done with those two.

Darren Young will be World Champion with 2 years time. WWE would love to have that good publicity. That is, until HHH comes out of retirement, makes some racist and homophobic comments about Young, and then buries him at WrestleMania.

Yeah, they were added yesterday morning. Everything from 1995-1996. 70 episodes. Lots of new Attitude Era Raw and SD episodes this week as well. It's awesome.

Well, as far as Raw and SD go, they're airing a few episodes every day on the live channel before adding them to the vault as part of a themed week.

Maybe it's time I get the WWE network then. I wouldn't mind going back and watching some nitro shows.

The opening Joe-MVP crew yelling thing was okay, I guess. Loved the Gail-Taryn video setting up their title match as something special. Gail-Taryn was pretty fantastic. The neckbreaker on the steps spot was sick, and I loved that after carnage, it was a basic counter that won the day. You also can't go wrong with a match where the camera spends so much time zoomed in on Gail's ass. Havok's debut went perfectly - outside of the heat machine. She's instantly made as the top female heel and came off like a killer. EC3 once again stole the show with his mic work. Loved him doing his usual bit with the you can't wrestle chants, and then turning the CM Punk chants against the crowd by saying he'd love to kick his ass too. The Gunner/Shaw tag was nothing special, but I liked them setting up something with Brittany since she'd make a good crazy girlfriend for Shaw.

Roode and EY had their best match to date in the company. This was well worth going out of your way to see - it was exactly what a number 1 contender's match should be, and the post-match stuff with Roode wanting water and Lashley just staring through him made the title seem like the top thing in the company. X Title number 1 contender was hurt a lot by the commentary, but I'm glad 'Cide won. He and Joe can finally have the great match they teased at the end of the match Joe won the title in. I like the superkick now being a tribute to Storm, but could do without Storm adding more guys to his knockoff Wyatt Family. I wouldn't mind Manik getting some new gear though, as this getup just being Suicide without the text never really worked.  Aries and Tajiri as allies against Storm and The Great Sanada was a bit random. Aries and his new greying beard need some work, and Tajiri needs to regrow the beard ASAP. It was seemingly a source of his charisma or something, because he just didn't look like himself at all here - and the aging body didn't help matters. Loved the ED3/Spud skit with the exit sign - Spud's going to be a great babyface one day. Joe-Lashley was pretty good-ish, but not exciting. LOLed hard at Tenay pimping Lashley on Bellator while he had a Vulcan nerve pinch on. Kenny King GETTING IN THE RING was not a DQ, but led to Joe having a valid reason to lose. The show closed with clips of the tables match and Melendez's debut, and this was one of the better NYC taping shows. The pace was perfect and the match quality impressed me - although Gail-Taryn really should've been hyped up last week.
