Another one, Best Buy is having pre-sell on UP SteelBook on for $14.99 online ($7.50 sale). Similar to Snow White strategy, put a down payment and get a free empty steelbook case then come back on release date to pick up your copy and pay the balance.

Sucks that this won't be available until Sunday, as I'm picking up my 3 SW sets today. Oh well, just 1 more trip to BB next week I guess.
No. It's this much:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9506162&st=Up&lp=3&type=product&cp=1&id=2019957
It's quite simple: you reserve the movie for $7.50, and you get the empty steelbook for free when you preorder. When the DVD is out, you go in with your receipt, pay the balance, and get the movie in the regular plastic DVD case.

This will be just like the Snow White Steel. Just go in grab your copy pre order it for $7.50, go back on release date(11/10) go to customer service and show them your receipt and they will take $7.50 off.
You guys make this all sound so simple. I need to get my local BB employees to read this thread and boost their confidence; I just went through the Snow White debacle. I doubt they'll get this one right either.

If they can't figure it out from that, Best Buy needs to make sure literacy in the English language isn't something they're leaving off their job applications.

So I just saw this on the Blu-ray.com forum...

Not sure how I feel about it being a jumbo steelbook....
Not sure how I feel about it being a jumbo steelbook....
It's a 4-disc release, so they have to make space for them somewhere.

Anything that's 3+ discs is going to be a double-wide case, which is what that steelbook looks like it is.
don't want!
Why does it matter, just curious? Don't you have other "fat" collections?

For me, as long as the height is the same as other BR cases, I'm ok with it especially for $7.50.

Not the best looking steelbook, to me it would look better if the plastic insert wasn't showing. Oh well it's not as if I'm not going to get it.
Wonder what our Futureshop edition will be? Is the height of this dvd or blu-ray?
I'm pretty sure the FS version will be the exactly the same since they are getting it from the same source.

On your second point, since it has the picture of the blu-ray on the cover insert, I would assume this is going to be blu-ray height.

I really wish they hadn't made a space for the digital copy disc. I mean, you use it once and throw it away.
i keep my digital copy discs. im a completionist though
I feel the same way. In fact I wouldn't redeem the Digital Copies (I only do them in iTunes), if it wasn't for the fact that they had an expiration date. I like keeping everything untouched.

Hi All, I just wanted to chime in and say a few words regarding the "Jumbo" steelbook "style". I buy quite a few discs from Germany (I'm 1/2 German) and like some of the limited, smaller films. The Fast & Furious 1-4 release, was the same style as the upcoming "Up". Here are some user photos uploaded on Amazon.com. http://www.amazon.com/Furious-Jumbo-SteelBook-German-Region/dp/B002OJLB4Y

Please note that the actual FF 1-4 BD "jumbo" steelbook title was originally available at Amazon.de. Amazon.com is pulling this in, through their title feed. I have it and still like it-although it does slightly resembles some of the "tin" releases you may find at Australian Retailer EZ Video and others.

Hope this helps,
Sariena

It sort of looks like a slimmer version of the BoB BR set. Not sure if I'm going to stick w/Amazon or get this. I did skip the SW steelbook, but Up is much higher on my favorites list than SW.
so its $7.50 for a bluray?
nope. 750 is for the preorder for the blu ray and you get a free steelbook if you preorder... the blu ray most likely prob be around 25

For some reason, I am not really really a big fan of Up... I mean, it's good, but without $10 off I am gonna pass and wait for a DEAL on it.

Steelcase is pretty overrated.

Does Best Buy ever treat Pre-orders like Gamestop. Where you can put down $5 for something, but come in and use the $5 on something else instead of what you pre-ordered.
Just came back from Best Buy, they wouldn't sell it to me. They said to come back on Tuesday.
They're idiots. The ad clearly states that it starts today, 10/11. I got mine with little problem... they just had to find them in the back first.

Got the case no prob, here is what it looks like on the inside if anyone cares....

EDIT: Yes its a steelbook. This is what the inside look like.

Looks good to me. So can someone explain this to me? What prevents someone from buying the $5 (or $7.50) pre-order and then just never coming in to get the pre-order. As long as you pay cash, I don't see why you can't just keep the steelbook after that.

I just highly doubt Best Buy will beat (or even match) Amazon's 27.99 price
so is it a still a steelbook? in looks like plastic from the pictures. also is it true that the pre-sell for up is only $5. let all us know!
yes its a steel book with plastic inside.

Well my understanding with preorder items... they are a free gift for preordering... so I would think that you can go back and get your money if you don't pick it up and nothing should be said about the steelbook... now I've not tried this but I would think that's how it should work.

As far as the $5.00 thing... well when it's scanned it's $7.50, it also says $7.50 deposit required on the package, so I would guess it's very YMMV as to whether you could get it for $5.00
$5 is the minimum deposit for pre-order. $7.50 is without pre-order.
Incorrect. It's the same as the Snow White pre-order, $7.50 down. Same routine as the Snow White pre-order, scan two UPC's, pay $7.50 + tax.

No mention anywhere about handing the steelbook back to BB when refunding the receipt.

Plenty of people have done it and kept the steelbook without any apparent issue. Plus, if BB thinks they can charge $14.99 tax on it on the back end of things, they can't, since you didn't agree to that charge when making the purchase.

Well I wasn't planning to go back to get the $7.50 back; I don't know how I'd feel about keeping the Up steelbook for completely free.

I read the slip on the back of the steelbook and thought I knew how it worked, but when the cashier scanned the two UPC's, the total came to around $22, so she deducted the $14.99 charge (for the steelbook I guess) because it was supposed to be free, and I was left with the 7.50 for the Blu-Ray pre-order. I'm not sure if it mentions a steelbook anywhere on the receipt, but I don't think it does.

got mine today at my local BB. just like stated before the deposit for the presell is $7.50 the same price as the pre sell for Snow White steelbook. i think the $5 varies depending on store. i did use the best buy 10% coupon, so if you are going to get this i suggest bringing the coupon as well ($.75) [Have only till monday to use or for Reward zone silver has till next week). Good luck to all that can find this. i am looking at it now an boy its pretty big!!!

Look over the receipt and you'll see two line items on there.

I picked "Up" a Steelbook today.

I decided to keep my Amazon temporarily until the release-week ad reveals itself. If BB is the same or cheaper than Amazon, then I'll pick it "Up" from there.

My receipt only has one line that says "Up Pre-sell" for $7.50.
I think the cashier only scanned the blu-ray UPC, not the steelbook's though.

Same here. I guess if someone else has it cheaper, I can cancel the BB pre-order without any qualms.

No, it's not on there, because this:

Deleting the 14.99 charge basically turned it into what Pooky said above
Deleting the 14.99 charge basically turned it into what Pooky said above
If they didn't scan the UPC for the steelbook itself, there won't be a line item for it on the receipt.

If they scanned both UPC's, one for the BR or the DVD version and one for the steelbook, there will be two line items, one for the steelbook @ $14.99 with a $14.99 instant discount and one for the $7.50 pre-order.

Two line items, they did it right, one line item, they didn't.

I saw the girl only scan one bar code when the instructions on the bottom say to scan the steelbook bar code + a BD/DVD bar code. My reciept only shows a pre-order for $7.50 with no mention of a steelbook.

Imagine if the cashiers made this mistake several times. Their inventory would be so screwed that they may think there was a ton of "shrinkage" on these.
