Events your store may be doing... Call ahead of time to make sure.

Event: "Gears of War Preview" Select stores will be staying open late on 10-21 in order to show off Gears of War for the Xbox 360. The showing will start at 9 PM and last approximately 15-20 minutes from what I can tell.

Event: "Final Fantasy XII Costume Contest & Midnight Opening" Some stores may end up doing a costume contest for the release of Final Fantasy XII. Participants may dress up as any Final Fantasy character of their choosing (Prizes may be available, although I'm not to sure about it). Some stores may also be participating in a midnight opening for Final Fantasy XII.

I think I've covered everything that is available this time around. If anyone discovers that something is missing, please post in the thread or the even better bet is to PM me so I can add to the list accordingly.
From what I understand, it's standard policy to not quote prices over the phone. The official reason is that they say trade in values change daily, but I'm guessing they've had employees misquote prices over the phone.
Actually, we (GameStop) just got a "directive" handed down from corporate about a week ago. We are supposed to give trade-in prices over the phone. WE HAVE TO. Also, mention any trade-in specials going on.
What's even worse (for us)? If we're busy, we're to take the caller's name and number and call them back when it slows down.

*ponders to what store you work in*

From the EB website: Get the Nintendo DS Lite Coral Pink or Onyx for $69.99 when you trade-in an original Nintendo DS Lite or get it for $99.99 when you trade in a GBA SP.

??? I was under the impression it was the original DS, not the white Lite.

ONce again I had a horrible time at EB. I walk in and no other customers are in the store and of course neither of the employees acknowlege me. Once again there were no signs or any hint that there was a trade in deal. What was funny though was that the two employees were talking about trying to hire someone that was qualified and could "sell" yet these guys don't seem to have a clue of how to sell themselves. Anyway I ask if there's a trade in deal and the guy says yes there is. I traded in my stuff and bought some other stuff and went to the Starbucks next door. I traded in 3 psp games 2 ps2 games and an Xbox game by the way. I looked at how much trade in credit I got and it was only $29.00 that seemed really low. Then I looked at each trade in value and none of the games were worth over $10 and only 3 of the games were worth over $5. If my calculations are correct. Either one game needs to be over $20 in TIC, 2 games need to be over $10 in TIC or 4 games need to be over $5 to have the extra credit. The idiot that was talking about how he needed to hire "qualified " people screwed the fuck up. So I went back and told the other guy working, since the first guy was gone for the day, what was going on and he tried to tell me that the games didn't qualify for the trade in deal. He really tried to pull one over me and say that they didn't qualify for the deal but I said to him "I thought the only exclusions were '06 sport games and before and wrestling games" (which I had none) and he was like "Oh yeah, that's right."

He couldn't void the transaction because I paid debit and he gave me a store credit which I applied towards a reservation. I don't know where the extra $20 is going to come from for the STORE credit not TRADE IN credit. His register was probably short $20 but fuck it. Too bad for them.

Anyway. Here's some TI values.

All values are without bonuses.

PSP
Frantix: $3.00
Untold Legends (the first one): $6.00
P.Q.: $8.00

Xbox
Men of Valor: $2.00
Project Gotham Racing 2: $1.00

PS2
Champions of Norrath: $7.00

If that's for real, that is awesome... no more guessing games at what EB / GS is going to give!
If that's for real, that is awesome... no more guessing games at what EB / GS is going to give!
Yeah, bad for them. Good for us. :D

...and Nintendogs trade-in is $15.00? I might have to let that go, I don't think I'll ever touch it again anyway.

I've never sold games to GS/EB because it's usually such a rippoff, but I'm considering doing this sale to get more money for some cheapos than I payed for them! I just wanted to know can the trade in credit be used online?

Excuse me if this has been mentioned (I only bothered to check the first 7 pages) but gamestop.com says "Get the Nintendo DS Lite Coral Pink or Onyx for $69.99 when you trade-in an original Nintendo DS Lite." That can't be right, can it? They mean the fat DS, not the white DS Lite, don't they?

I'm sure I'm the only one who cares about this, but the free Auto Assault with PC title, is that any new PC title, or just $20 and above for something like that. If I can find a nice cheap $10 PC game, it may be worth getting both.

The prices I got from EB are different then the ones on the Wiki, one of which was the same day, September 4th.

DS:
WarioWare: Touched $11.00
Metroid Prime Pinball $ 8.00

PS2:
Matrix Path of Neo $7.00
-----------------------------------
$26
+$10 trade in deal
-----------------------
$36.00
+$3.90 preorder deal
===============
$39.90 total credit

Because of the deal they marked up matrix to $17.00 and since I put it towards a preorder (gears of war) they tacked on another $3.90 to Warioware putting it at $14.90 for a total of $39.90

Is there a minimum trade in amount per game in order to qualify for the $10 bonus? Duel Masters PS2 works in the promo?

if someone from CAG payed 70 bucks to change the color of their DS Lite they should be banned!! BANNED!

I'm amused that they pay $20 for Disgaea but sell it for like triple the amount they pay for it. God, Ebgames/Gamestop trade-in is such a scam.

Would accessories such as a PS2 Memory Card or an Eyetoy count towards this deal? Also does anyone know if they count the eyetoy and eyetoy play as seperate items?
I have the box that is the eyetoy and play so if they count it as seperate then awesome for me!

Accessories DO NOT count. The Eye Toy game would, though, of course.

I think any game works, besides sports, racing and wrestling games.
People in this thread said the minimum was $1 now, but I think Max Payne 2 fetches $.50, ever since it dropped to $2.

Hmm, they've really been trying to give away Auto Assault. First it was Guild Wars: Factions, now any game?
Boggleworthy. Don't you have to pay monthly for Auto Assault, or am I mistaken?
Traded in the following games:

XBX Halo 2 Regular Edition $12
Ps2 Hulk $4
Ps2 Powerdrome $1
You only got 12 dollars for Halo 2? I thought there were supposed to be 20 dollars now.

Racing games count. I used Gran Turismo 3 and it worked fine.

Yes, I think the monthly fee is the same as any other NCSoft game ($15). But if I can get it for around $10 and play for another month after the trial, I think it would be worth the the $25 to try it out. I've heard good things about it, only downfall is the barren population :(

I've never traded in to EB/GS before. I keep their profit margins low by buying only new - so if I trade games in, are their trade-in prices the same complete as disc-only, or do they offer a lower value/decline disc-only trade-ins?

I've gotten some disc-only games recently and I'd rather keep the trade-in cases for these games then give them to GS/EB.

EDIT: NEW Trade fodder: Infected for PSP. $9.99 new at CC, $8 trade in. Good if you need 1 more game to trade in to get the 3 bonus.

Hmm, I found some cheap racing games online to use as fodder, but I called my Gamestop to verify if they would take those in and they said no sports, wrestling and after a slight hesitation, no racing games either.

I guess she was mistaken. PGR here I come!

Maybe it's YMMV this time?
Maybe it's YMMV this time?
It has always been YMMV.

Depends on the store, the employee, and the time of day.

I'm sure some people will be able to pass off Jampacks and Madden '02 just like last time - but, of course YMMV on that. It is more likely they will take racing games. During the last promo I had one store tell me ANY extreme sports type game didn't count (so no Tony Hawk, NBA Street, etc). Others took those with no problem. It has always, and will always be, YMMV unless they make the promos automatic in the computer so it is consistent from store to store. That is, as long as it involves manual credit bumping by the employee it will be YMMV.

So wait, pay at least $10.50 for Infected (including tax) to make $8 back in store credit, which would get bumped to $11.33 (3.33 per 3 for 1 game).

If you want to go to all that trouble for making $0.88 or less, then by all means, do it.

I think his point was just to use it as filler if you have 2 other games to trade in. Obviously it isn't worth getting in and of itself .

Actually, though, it would be bumped to $12.46 or so after Edge card. And if you live somewhere with no sales tax (like me ), that is a $2.47 increase - not worth it to me, but not bad if you have 2 other games to get rid of. (And there are those wacky states where you get sales tax credited to trade-ins. I know Blockbuster does this in Virginia - in that case you can actually MAKE money off the sales tax by buying low and trading higher).

Generally I like to stick with 2x trade in value myself, but if I was down to the last 2 games I had to trade I'd consider this.

Traded in 3 games today. All were PS2 games.

Resident Evil 4 - $14
NCAA Football 2007 - $25
Tourist Trophy - $16

After bonuses and GS card, I ended up getting $72.59 in credit. Not too bad for making some pawn shop stops during the day. Spent $30 for all 3 games and turned that into a $42.59 profit. Just applied the credit towards the couple Wii games I have preordered and Smackdown Vs. RAW '07 for the 360.

I was just told if I trade in my games towards "The Godfather" on the 360, I could get the 3 for $10.00 deal plus the extra 20% for trading towards "The Godfather, plus my Edge Card 10% bonus is that correct. It would end up being an automatic bounus of $13.00 for every 3 games I trade in.

p.s.
If I am trading in like 30 games will they let every game I trade in get the 20% extra bonus or just the ones till I pay off "The Godfather"?

Crap... NFL Street 2 (GC) is still $6, but Mega Man X Collection (GC) is down to $7. So that one is definitely going the eBay route if I sell, but now I have to make the decision if I'm going to open it to try it first, most likely losing a couple eBay bucks if I don't want it, or just put it up sealed.

I guess I'll just have to open it and find a third game to trade in with Street and Luigi's Mansion (Believe it or not, I couldn't even figure out the tutorial, so I gave up on the damn thing. Never happened before.)

That was one of the first GC games I played back in Jan. 2004 (and thus one of the first console games since my Colecovision days). I thought the control scheme was pretty wacky, so I just figured games were like that these days. Gotta pull the yellow stick in the opposite direction to suck in the ghosts .

Oh, and to keep this slightly on topic, I have been tempted to trade it in, but my son still plays it once every few months. When you have 3 kids it is very dangerous to trade in old games - they will eventually ask to play them again :D. That's one reason why I get duplicates to trade.

What was more annoying was that they let the tutorial end knowing that you hadn't figured out how it worked yet. So I was like "Uh... awesome. Eject." Whatever, it was "free" from that CC glitch, and I have far too many games, dumb trading criteria FTW. :D

I've made $86 so far from 15 games traded that I bought for $1-2 each at the Toysrus clearance. Going back to trade 9 more gmaes.

Also note that for some reason, they also gave a 10% bonus to each game I traded in. Strange indeed.

I called around today and was quoted the following values:

XBX Halo $4
XBX Halo 2 $12
XBX Spartan: Total Warrior $11
XBX Half-Life 2 $7
XBX The Warriors $6
PS2 Gun $5
PS2 Devil May Cry $4
PS2 Total Overdose $4

I was checking the trade-in price for Gun PS2 last Saturday and the clerk said $8. It must have just dropped?!

I think I'm going to buy more $1-$2 games.I only have 4 games to trade in so I will buy some more this week.

If you were going to go out and get the most for this deal what would you do. What games would you get? Are the 3 games, new or used that you could buy to get the most in trade with the GameStop deal?

Both Max Paynes, Power Drome, Tony Hawk 3, and pretty much any game below three dollars will turn a worthy profit if you pre-order and use an Edge or More card to get an extra 20%. You'll usually get about $14 to $15 for every $6 you spend.

??? :whistle2:s

He was just talking about trading 3 games in - where is the promo stacking there?? He didn't even mention Edge (though I assume he would get that too).

Anyway, made the following earth-shattering trades today:

PS2 Duel Masters - $1.50
PS2 Fantavision - $1
PS2 Future Tactics - $1

After $10 + 10% for Edge, I ended up with $15.23. Yeah, the guy couldn't split up $10 3 ways very well  (should have been $14.85).

To the person saying they bought a ton of $1-$2 games at TRU, please tell which games?? I haven't seen anything under $10 in their so-called clearance.

Thanks for pointing that out io.

Quick question: If I trade in 6 games do I get the extra 10 x2? Or do I have do do seperate transactions on seperate days?
Quick question: If I trade in 6 games do I get the extra 10 x2? Or do I have do do seperate transactions on seperate days?
Nah, you can trade em all in.
They give you $10 per every 3 games.
So if you have 6 eligible games, they'll give you $20 on top of what each game was worth.
