Sorry, but no good game trading promos this time in marketing. For those of you waiting to get rid of a system, now is the time to do it for some extra credit.

Trade Values according to the Wiki.

(Green means it is starting on 10/16)
(White is a continuation from last marketing period)
(Red means it is ending on 10/15)

Trade Promos

Promo: "Trade in your Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, or Xbox 360 and get $20 extra in credit" Systems must be fully functional and have all hook-ups with the controller. This deal does not get extra bonuses.

Events your store may be doing... Call ahead of time to make sure.

Event: "Gears of War Preview" Select stores will be staying open late on 10-21 in order to show off Gears of War for the Xbox 360. The showing will start at 9 PM and last approximately 15-20 minutes from what I can tell.

Event: "Final Fantasy XII Costume Contest & Midnight Opening" Some stores may end up doing a costume contest for the release of Final Fantasy XII. Participants may dress up as any Final Fantasy character of their choosing (Prizes may be available, although I'm not to sure about it). Some stores may also be participating in a midnight opening for Final Fantasy XII.

I think I've covered everything that is available this time around. If anyone discovers that something is missing, please post in the thread or the even better bet is to PM me so I can add to the list accordingly.
You can always pick up the phone and call. It's alot quicker than waiting for a reply on here.
Stuck at work all day so can't call. Glad to hear its been extended though.
It doesn't matter what they say. Right on their website it says the deal has been extended until 10-15-06.
Finally! I checked last night (actually this morning) at 3am Pacific and it still hadn't changed. Nice to see that the restrictions are exactly the same. It seems, though, as I and some others have seen, that individual managers might exclude $1 or less titles (or at least those that sell for $5 or less - after all, some of their $1 trades sell for $6.99 so they wouldn't lose money on those).

As for everyone who says to call - while it is nice if you call and they say it IS extended, more often than not on the first day of an extension most employees won't even know. Now with the web site updated all we have to to is print that out and bring it to whatever store is convenient :D.

I was 95% sure the deal would be extended this time, but a bit nervous as I found a bunch of Kmart fodder just yesterday. Of course, I could have returned it all, but who wants to have to go to Kmart to return 4 copies of Enter the Matrix?

And Shrike - thanks a ton for combining the threads, it was getting annoying reading both and trying to figure out where the trade-in price updates were (so I could update the wiki). It almost seems like we should make a single stickied EB/GS trade-in deals/prices thread like we have for most of the other stores. Can we just tack this one up there?

Big thanks to the OP!!

Traded in (before bonuses):

-Guilty Gear Dust Strikers: $9.00
-Metroid Prime Pinball: $6.00
-Trace Memory: $5.00
-Nanostray: $6.00
-Exit: $5.00
-King of Fighters Maximum Impact: $7.00

So after the extra $20 and 10% more because of my new Edge Card, I got $67.96.

Put that towards a renewal for my edge card ($14.99) and the Xbox Live Vision Camera Kit (12 month Gold etc.). In the end I paid $34.86 :)

Wooooo

Well, I just thought the stickied thread would do away with the case we just had - 2 competing EB/GS deal threads. Plus we need some consistent place for people to report their trade-in values so we can update the wiki (unless all CAG's start doing their own updating) - a stickied thread is perfect for that. I dunno - it works well for the GR thread anyway :D.

And even if people DO start updating the wiki themselves it is still nice to see recent reports in the deals thread - someone might find a hidden gem or a sudden spike (or drop) in prices that you wouldn't notice just perusing the wiki. That's why I encourage everyone to post the prices here whether they are already in the wiki or not and even if they update the wiki themselves.

When this is done, we might make one in the Deal Discussions forum, or elsewhere. In the VGD forum, there's enough stickies as it is.

here's new trade-in values that I didn't see on the Wiki, and a couple updates or two

XBOX
-----------------------------------------
BIA: earned in blood $7
Suffering : Ties that bind $2.50
MK: deception $3
BIA: road to hill... $2.50
Truce Crime NYC $3
Star Wars Republic Commando $7
Breakdown $1

that's the only revisions I could find on my list.

I traded in about 19 games for $169 in credit.
Picked up Ninja Gaiden Black (used to have it, wanted it back), DMC3:SE (same as NGB), and Call of Cthulu (I've been looking for nearly 6 months for a complete copy used). I also preordered Resistance for PS3 for $5, since the dude at my gamestop was saying that they're calling and reserving PS3's first for those that have pre-ordered.

Ended up with $108 left in credit.

I traded in three games today, one being a cheapo game I grabbed from the nextdoor used game/dvd store that for $2. The totals below are not including 10 percent bonus or the extra ten dollars.

Splinter Cell PS2 - $1 (bought it for a dollar next door)

Final Fantasy X-2 - $8

Radiata Stories - $7 (which I got for the same price at a pawn shop last month).

And with that I got $30 for all of them. I renewed my Edge Card, as it expired two weeks ago.

Also the trade-in value for Kingdom Hearts 2 fall down to $17 when I tried to trade it in eariler that week.

Awesome! Anybody know the trade in Value for Mech Assault 2, I got many copies of that bloody game LOL.

Edit: At l,east ill make a Nickel Profit. Boo.

2 bucks?
Mechassault 2 - $2 - 9/23/06

Just think, If the ould EB was still around, then you could buy 15 games for $37.63. Then you could flip those games for, at least $70.2 using edge card.

I'll take care of keeping the thread updated if you want to sticky the thread. I try to get the new marketing posted as soon as I get it, although sometimes we get the kit a day or 2 later than other places.

Just traded

Enter the Matrix PS2 $1.00
Atari Anthology PS2 $4.00
Ghost REcon XBOX $1.00
NFL Street GC $1.00
NBA Street Vol. 2 XBOX $1.00
New Super Mario Bros DS $20.00

total: 58.72 with 10% edge and 10% Preorder
Preorder for Zelda Wii: 49.99
Oddly enough I didn't have to pay the $5... I'm thinking maybe its a presell and not a reserve... whatever
can you combine the 30% xtra from GI an dedge and 3 for 10+?
No, unless you have an employee that is going to really fuck up. The computer only allows one price override (used to increase trade values). Whoever does the trade will need to add the 30% to the total of the game, plus 3.33 to each game all in one override. Corporate has sent out emails to not do this too, so it is very YMMV if it happens.

Also, I have some trades to add to the Wiki.

PS2 Ace Combat Zero: Belkin Wars - $14 - 9/25/06
PS2 Fight Night Round 3 - $14 9/25/06
PS2 Need for Speed: Most Wanted - $14 9/25/06
PS2 World Championship Poker - $1 - 9/25/06
PSP SOCOM - $12 - 9/25/06
PSP Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror - $14 - 9/25/06

I ended up with a total of $97.90 after $10 bonuses and Gamestop Card.
Hmm... was that in regards to the 30% bonus explicitly, or to the on-going 10% preorder bump as well? I usually got the preorder bonus without any question previously, but it wasn't given the last time in. If they've sent out notes to stop that, I won't bother trying to get my extra $5.

Easiest way to put this together is putting it in numbers. So lets use these scenarios:

Both times, I trade in 3 games at $1 a piece to make the math easy.

This is the correct way:
(1.00 * 3 [for 3 games] + 10) * 1.1 [GS/Edge card bonus] = $14.30
This is the incorrect way:
(1.00 * 3 [for 3 games] + 10) * 1.1 [GS/Edge card bonus] * 1.3/1.1 [game informer coupon/preorder bonus for trades] = $18.59/15.73
You are only supposed to be able to use 1 trade offer per item traded. So if you trade 3 games, the $10 can be added or you can opt to get the 30% from the coupon. The bonus from the Gamestop/Edge cards is automatic and aren't considered a different offer meaning that you can use that to get the 10% extra on top of either of the trade offers.

As I have said before though, if an employee goes through the hassel of doing this, you are getting lucky. It won't last too much longer anyways since they are planning on rolling a new update to the POS so that any promos are automatically applied.
Ahh, I thought the preorder was on top of the game sale. I was thinking it was 49.99 + 5.00 or whatever.
Nope, whatever you put down for a pre-order goes to the value of the game.
Ahh, I thought the preorder was on top of the game sale. I was thinking it was 49.99 + 5.00 or whatever.
Common sense is completely past you, no?

Know it doesn't need to be said, but thanks for all the insights and updates guys. Really helpful. I'll be back with my trade-in values once I get a chance so someone can add to wiki too.
Common sense is completely past you, no?
I don't recall EbGames retail information ever being in the domain of common sense. Common sense is not based on what you explicitly know, rather it is based on the knowledge of the common person. I'm very confident that if you asked every person in America the question: "If you pay $5 to reserve a $50 video game at EbGames, how much would the remainder cost?" Most people would probably have no idea how to answer or they would use their knowledge to either come up with $50 left, assuming the fee is added on to hold the product for you, or $45 assuming they already knew or they guessed that the $5 was towards the product.

Actually, common sense would probably make you chose the latter as you would expect them to take some cut for putting you in front of somebody since they are holding a game, neglecting potential buyers.

Wouldn't it be better to just call me a noob?
You forgot a third option - you are prebuying the game from them, thus allowing them to order more copies and make more sales. It makes the MOST sense that you would thus only pay $40 more - they give you a $5 break for preordering :D. Now, I know EB/GS would never do that, but Gamerush had that $29.99 preorder deal last year - oh, how I miss it...

Sadly here in Sacramento I can get either:
(1.00 * 3 [for 3 games] + 10) * 1 [No GS/Edge card bonus] * 1 [No game informer coupon/preorder bonus for trades] = $13.00

or
(1.00 * 3 [for 3 games] + 0) * 1.1 [GS/Edge card bonus] * 1.3/1.1 [game informer coupon/preorder bonus for trades] = $4.29/3.63

They will not let you stack the GS card bonus or the preorder bonus. I have tried at a few stores. They all refuse to even scan the card. If you try buying a used game to force them to scan it they manually lower the price of the game without scanning the card.
Common sense is completely past you, no?
Why would this be common sense? I used to think this too. Ccommon sense would tell you that the 5 dollar is what you are paying on top of the retail price as a privledge to "hold" the game for you.

thats really the craziest thing i've heard. Try calling corporate and finding out if thats what they are supposed to do.

Trade in values as of today:
Ace Combat (PS2) ---------------------- $2.50
The Getaway: Black Monday (PS2) -- $3.00
Tekken Tag Tournament (PS2) ------- $2.50
Enter the Matrix (PS2) ----------------- $1.00
World Championship Poker (PS2) --- $1.00
Finding Nemo (GC) --------------------- $3.00 (new)
Super Monkey Ball 2 (GC) ------------- $6.00
Finding Nemo (XB) ---------------------- $4.00
The Urbz (XB) ---------------------------- $2.50 (dropped)

Signed up for Game Informer/Edge Card (finally) so I got additional 10%, and also added more money to a Pre-order so got another 10% pre-order bonus and the 3 for $10 deal. Total = $67.17 (then minus the Preorder amount of 5.55 and 14.95 Edge subscription = $46.63)

I traded in:

Animal Crossing (DS) - $15
the Sims (XBOX) - $2
Finding Nemo (XBOX) - $4

I picked up NHL 07 (X360), and Edge Card, and put down 5 on Gears of War preorder for $42.35. The trade in came out to $40 and I can't even figure out how it got that high. Even if you add the $10, 10% for the card, and 10% for preorder I still don't think it quite reaches $40.

Yeah... you've always been allowed to prepay for a reserved game ;).

You can put any amount above $5 down... it doesn't really make a difference how much you put down though. I only prepay fully for games if I have the spare money so that when the time comes I haven't spent it on something else .

I started paying for some games in full just so I simply don't have to worry about losing the credit (should my Edge card disappear or something). It is also nice to stroll into EB and just pick up the games without having to pay more (just did this with DQ Slime and Okami). I also figure they appreciate the full amount more than just the $5 and when the guy was combining $10 bonus with the 10% preorder bonus I felt generous . If I'm going to get the game anyway it doesn't matter.

Of course, that can bite you in the ass too as many of the GR people have found out (they clear out preorders more than 1 year old, and everyone who preordered Zelda or FF XII last summer got screwed - most have gotten something back but it has been a huge pain).

I've got a couple of questions:

Does the pre-order 10% bonus stack with 3 for 10 and the More Card?

I payed off Final Fantasy XII with my credit, can I cancel it like a regular pre-order?

Today's haul, all PS2 (before extra 10% and $10)

Wallace & Gromit Zoo -----$3
Evil Dead Regen ------------$5
The Punisher ----------------$7
Shadow of Rome -----------$9
God of War ------------------$9
Yakuza -----------------------$20

$80.26 total.

Go a great deal today. I was allowed to use the trade 3 get $10, as well as the 30%, and the 10% for the edge card.

Traded in:
Fire Emblem: PoR (GC) $7
Dead Rising (Xbox 360) $35
Y's (PSP) $10
New Super Mario Bros (DS) $17
Shadow Hearts: Covenant (PS2) $16
Monster Hunter (PS2) $10
NCAA 2005 $1
Madden 2005 $1
Xbox 360 Headset $4
PS2 First Party Controller $7

After all the bonuses I ended up with 179.50, I had to pre-order some games, but they said I could cancel them and change them another day.
No! You sold GS a Shadow Hearts!? I know at least three people that would have paid ~$25 for it!
Direct them to eBay. You can buy a new one for $25.

Watch out with this sometimes. A couple of the EB/Gamestop's I went to didn't know this was extended (which I was prepapred for and I whipped out my print-out from the website :D). But then one of the EB's addaround me trying saying that it was only the first 3 u trade in u get $10 for and not an itional $10 for each set of 3 afterwards. I preceded to grab my games and walk to the next one. What an idiot.
