:EDIT: Scroll through to find Rush's advice regarding point accrual and redemption.

I'm not sure if anyone else jumped for the SonyStyle credit card offer a while back around August of '07, but if you did, chances are you might have residual points for your initial purchase (I received about 4.5K when purchasing the 60gb and an HDMI cable). Anyway, there selection of games to redeem points for has been updated, with the newer games actually costing less points than the old.

http://sonyrewards.com/en/redeem/subcategory/index/4?subcategory=187

New: 6,000 Points
Uncharted Drake’s Fortune
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds
Heavenly Sword
MLB 08 The Show

Old: 6,400 Points
F1 Championship
Genji: Days of the Blade
MLB 07 The Show
NBA 07
Motorstorm
Resistance: Fall of Man

I realize it is pretty specific to a few people (and maybe not a deal), but I've been waiting for this to happen for pretty much 7 months. Hope it helps someone else in a similar position. Right now I'm leaning towards Uncharted.

If you guys have a sony card, call the number on the back and talk to the operator, they can connect you to someone who can answer questions, they have helpfull operators and are easy to get answers from.

I discovered this in the Wheel Watchers Club forum and I thought this could be helpful for those who want to earn lots of Sony Rewards points.

1. Make sure you are logged into your Sony Rewards account on the official site: http://www.sonyrewards.com/en/home/sonycard/
2. Go to this website to register Sony products and sign on as a Guest User: https://productregistration.sel.sony.com/app/home.htm
3. Now fill out the registration form and input these 5 model numbers for the following products:
 • PS2 Slim (SCPH75001)
 • PS2 Controller (SCPH10010)
 • PS2 Multitap (SCPH10090)
 • PS2 Network Adapter (SCPH10281)
 • PS2 HDD (SCPH20401)
3. Submit your completed form and click on the Join Now button on the bottom right.
4. Voila! You've earned 500 points per product registered. 500 x 5 = 2,500 (max)

You don't need to own these products to register since there is no verification needed. By the way, 2500 pts (or less) = a $25 gift card. Here comes another Blockbuster $25 gift card for me! :bouncy:

You freakin' rock. I was up to 1675 points as is, and this brings me up to 4175. Now that the libraries around here have started carrying blu-ray, I'm going to start using that program next to earn points next.

Since they pretty much NEVER update the game selection, I usually end up buying the game with my Sony card and then filling out the purchase form to get points+credit for it. Not sure what I'd get next but it's either Motorstorm 2 or Valkyria Chronicles. Neither one of them have any activity going on through goozex at all.

How long does it take for the registration points to post on sonyrewards.com?

wait, will this work with all products? Could you look up random sony model numbers, register them, and get more sony points?

Ok I clicked on the join now button and got the 500 points. I registered the same product a few times and it kept adding 500 points to my account!

The points are posted to your account immediately.

It does seem to work with all Sony products, but you can only get a maximum of 2500 points this way.

hey evergoo, i love you, it worked liked a charm, i had 2800 +2500, so now i have enough for a video game.

Add me on PSN dude, backseatdog.

For anyone interested, they added Motorstorm: PR, NBA 09, Singstar v2, Singstar v2 bundle, Socom: Confrontation, and Socom: Confrontation bundle to the PS3 redemption center. (No Resistance 2?)

Always a good way to spend your points, but for those savvy SonyCard owners, a better way is to buy a PS3 game (or any sony product) at an authorized Sony dealer (google it for the list) and send the receipt with a Purchase Credit Form in to receive a credit on your account (not to mention bonus points). For example, BestBuy has Motorstorm: PR on sale this week for $39.99 so I bought it with my Sony card. I'll mail in the reciept/form and they will deduct 3999 points from my account and credit my credit card for the $39.99. Motorstorm: PR would have been 5269 points (or 6199 points if you don't have the jackpot or platinum level status) through the site.

Wasn't aware I could do that. Thanks for the tip. Looks like I'll be picking up Motorstorm: Pacific Rift as well this week!

So would this work for even games like Simpsons Game that sells for 9.99? Sweet way to get free games.

Yes, it will. They are supposed to give you triple points for sony products as well, but I didnt get the bonus points in my last batch.

Glad I could help. If anyone's picking up Motorstorm @ Best Buy this week, make sure to check in at the PS3 forum here and join us for CAG night. Here's the direct link for after you're registered to the rewards site:

The sony card is actually pretty good as far as interest (for me) and this is a perk on top of it. So I get kinda edgy when people say, "It's stupid to open a line of credit for $150 off a PS3". ;)

so, i have to use sony card to buy the games first right? wish i had known this first. i got about 3 games recently all used on different credit card.

Yeah, you have to use the Sony Card for the purchase credit option. It's at least good to know for the future.

Heck, I needed a first credit card to start building some credit, and Sony was offering me free money to buy a product I wanted anyway. MGS4 80GB for $300 as just fine for me. And at some point I may actually earn enough reward points to get another game, possibly!

Are we only allowed to register 5 products? I couldn't do my PS3 or PSP.

See posts #26,27,139,151, and 153 of this thread for ways to earn points without having to buy anything. You should be well on your way by then, and of course use the Purchase Credit form I've been pimping for extra value. :D

Yup. You need to fill out the form on the website and print it out mail it in. They will give you 3X credit for SONY products. When you see the points added they will be 2X since the 1X is included in the statement points total. (ex: 400 PS3, you would see 800 bonus points)

Ah, so that's what that rebate form is for.

I noticed for the daily questions that if you answer 12 or more in a month it discounts 15% off of "everything" in the catalog. Has anyone verified this for something like a ps3?

I know it worked like that when you solve the Wheel of Fortune puzzles so I assume it would for Daily Trivia too.
Where are these daily questions?
Follow the links on page 2 (posts 26 and 27).

Well, it looks like after I go home and do the product registration I should have almost 9k points. Now I'll probably do the trivia everyday, hope for the 15% off along with hoping for a ps3 pricedrop somewhere to snag a good deal.

edit: Successfully registered 5 products I own (dvd, blu ray, ps2 & remote, psp). One thing you need to be sure to do is click "Join now" after every product registration, not just the end. Luckily, you can hit the back button and still click the join now button for each product.

second edit: Hmph, got 500 random "campaign points" for apparently doing absolutely nothing. Also, there's 50 points to be had for filling out the questionnaire on your profile, so don't miss that.

Just found out about registering the 5 products as well as using credit to buy stuff at stores. Now I guess I need to start playing those stupid wheel watcher club games again :(

earlier in this thread someone made it clear that any ps3 game (including games not published by sony) purchase with your sony card from an authorized sony dealer will get you 3 points. does this also work for blu-ray movies? thanks!

I think it only works with sony bds (can someone else verify this?) but if you buy BD live enabled discs that use the sony BD live access you can get an extra hundred points per disc, I haven't been able to get it to work with any other (WB) bd live logins. Also if you buy new release bd's sign up for the bd newsletter, once a week or so, I will get a 10 dollar coupon for a bd through the sony rewards store, and normally it is a new/newer release, combined with your points and 15% discount that can be a pretty big discount. For every ten discs registered you can also get a 10 dollar coupon that you can use on any bd is the sony rewards store.

You can sign up for it on Sony rewards, in your account settings, where you can choose which groups you want to participate in Wheel Watchers, Playstation, SPT etc... choose the Sony Bluray club. I haven't been able to figure out the timing for the emails, but I remember seeing coupons for The House Bunny, Hancock, Stepbrothers, and the Resident Evil Movie.

Not sure if it was always the case, but you can only apply 500 points to any item under 10000 points, so you cant get free $25 gift cards just for making an account and registering 5 products.

im a little confused about the registration thing... how do you combine the sonyrewards account with the sonystyle.com account?

thanks

EDIT:

i got it.. listened to the above instructions... it was quite simply... i just made sure that i was logged into my sonyrewards acct. first.. and just like he said... click on "continue" then "continue" then "Join now" ... so as soon as you see the "join now" do it

NOW::

where do i find the PRODUCT NUMBER for ps3 games?

thanks

For those who don't know, the redemption of Rewards Points benefits owners of the SonyCard and PlayStation Card much more than non-owners. Non-owners are limited to points usage. Hence, the title of this thread. :p

If you are not a Sony Car holder, your points expire after only 1 year, as opposed to five. In other words, if you want to be serious about it, you need to get a Sony or Playstation card.

Also, I got to the 15% level, and it does indeed work on the ps3. However, they also charge you the equivalent of 34 dollars for shipping, so it's not as great as it may sound.

It had sounded like you made extra Sonyrewards accounts and registered 5 products as indicated to get additional gift cards. I must have been mistaken. I can read by the way.
