I got a black leather trifold once as a gift because she didn't like my black canvasy? velcro one. It's a nice looking wallet and I've used it for 5 years. It's more "adult" or professional looking for sure, but the velcro one was laid out differently and had different compartments that were way better.
I find this wallet is actually bending some of my credit cards for some reason but I can't nail down exactly why some of the cards are flexing like that. I don't know if its because of the way the cards are stacked, or if the compartment behind the cards has something that's messing them up, or if its some kind of imbalance once the fold over is on top, etc.
Sometimes I like to keep my wallet in my front pocket depending on where I'm walking around, and I could do that with the way the old velcro one was set up. The new black leather one, with the same amount of stuff in it, is just too thick which drives me crazy. So I have to back pocket it all the time. Oh, and the velcro one had a nicely positioned coin pocket so I could keep some change on me, which was always nice for a buck or two in quarters. Without that, I end up losing change in my car cup holders or into the abyss of my home, and I'm circulating it less since I'm not using it to make purchases.
I ended up finding this smaller wallet where its two thick leather sides that sit back to back connected my elastic bands. The elastic bands hold cash to the back of either side like the meat of a sandwich. Each leather side has like 3 slots for cards. I like to use that when I'm going somewhere where I don't want to sit on my wallet all night and/or I might easily lose my wallet. It's good for some cash bills, a couple credit cards, a license, and my insurance card and Triple A card if I really want to bring that much stuff. Then I can leave my other club cards and various other things back at home in the regular wallet. Of course on the handful of occasions I've used it, I had to face "What, you don't like the wallet I got you?

"
If it's clothing or accessories like a wallet or belts or watches or whatever, if I don't pick it out myself I'm probably going to be very hesitant about using it. Not only from a style perspective but also from a functionality perspective, because I know what I need. Most people know not to buy me clothes or accessories like that these days.
I agree. I'm really used to the tri-fold and don't like the idea of feeling obligated to switch.
And for me, same thing with electric razors. I got one of the 3-circles kind as a gift once and just couldn't get used to it. Felt kinda bad exchanging it for the parallel type, but it had to be done.
Yep, I'm right there with you and I'm even more picky about electric razors. I like the Braun electric razor I have but they've since switched to manufacturing them somewhere else and newer models are actually worse, so I had to resort to buying a used one on eBay of the exact same model I used that works perfectly for me when my original broke. And others must feel the same way because there was quite a bidding war on a few of the used models that were up for sale.
