Walmart Return Policy?

Well, I purchased Mass Effect 2 as a gift from walmart a few weeks ago. Turns out the person already has the game. I lost my receipt, but since walmart has a no receipt return policy, I thought I would be ok.

When I went there though, the lady said I needed to have a receipt for anything over $50 and wouldn't let me return the game, even though it was still sealed...

So, um, should I have argued with her? Walmart.com has no mention of a dollar limit on no receipt returns

Yep they do have a dollar limit, I was unable to return something before that was like $90. I thought it was more than $50 but I guess I'm not sure since the last thing I returned there was a Wii game that was $49.99

You're not going to be able to return it unless you have a receipt. Wal-Mart cracked down on their return policy last year and won't take anything back unless you have a receipt.

You're better off reselling it and try to make most of the money back.

Way to make stuff up.

Their policy is very clear except most employees don't know what they're talking about. Call back and ask to speak to a supervisor/manager. They'll usually have a better answer for you.

However OP, did you not purchase with a credit card? You can usually go back to Walmart with your statement to verify the purchase.

They might be able to look it up via your credit card if you used one to purchase the game (Target did that for me once, a while back). Otherwise, you could try and print out Wal-Mart's return policy page and take to the store and show them.

But I have heard that WM put tighter controls on non-receipt returns and that not all stores follow the same policy though I'm not sure if that's entirely true.

Walmart has been known for having such an "easy" return policy with merchandise and not having receipts. By now they've realized how much fraudelent returns they've dealt with and finally are doing something about it. I used to see people returning carriages full of stuff and the employees would still offer cash back even though no receipt is present. For stuff like video games the rules are a bit iffy like when you open a game you're only allowed to exchange it for the same title, that's how it is almost everywhere...
