WAR - Starring Jason Statham vs. Jet Li

So from the action that it does have, does it stray more towards the cool, but singular action of The Transporter, the ridiculous action of Transporter 2, wicked double trouble action of the classic Double Team, or what?
I thought Jet Li was semi-retiring. Was that just from intense martial arts flicks?
Yeah I thought it was his Sagas or whatever....
No fighting? That's a major bummer... yeah I know what you're saying about Aoki too. Gross.
yeah shes got a weird plastic looking face. i remember her in fast and the furious 2 and i couldnt help but be creeped out at how unnaturally shiny her face was through the whole film. damn shame about war though ive always wanted to see those 2 in a film vs each other. still i hope they do a sequel to the one someday id liek to see what happens when only one is left alive.

it's a lot less silly than transporter and definitely less silly than crank. The director is pretty new and this is kind of like his debut so the movie is a bit rough around the edges.

And the War title refers to the conflict between the Triads and the Yakuza in the film, though from the trailers/poster I initially thought it was the rivalry between Jet Li and Jason.

It is called "The One" :/

Wow, so it's a movie about a duel between overrated talentless hacks. Can it be Paul Walker versus Antonio Sabato Jr. in the sequel?

Aoki is ugly. she got that pig face or something. anyway, none of Jet Li's american movies are good. maybe except for danny the dog. its pretty good.

did jet li talk alot in english?

Well Danny the Dog is technically French. But yes, Jet Li's Western Fare has not been very good, especially when you compare it to his HK films.
And why do they keep on Casting Devon Aoki?! she's butt ugly and can't speak Japanese worth jack... in fact Jason speaks better Japanese than her....
jo mang u kno who they gotta cast?!?!

that girl from Dig Jelly, Rayko.

dat girl's more japaneesey than easy breezey, and I'm not talking about cover girl
People are hating on Crank, but I liked that movie. It was fast and stylish and just good fun action. On the other hand I couldn't force myself to get through either of the transporters. I love Snatch and Lockstock too.
Pretty much my exact sentiments on Crank. I really really love that movie. Stylistic, entertaining, hilarious, never takes itself too seriously, etc. On the other hand, I differ with you on the Transporters. My original/initial review of Transporter 1 should be somewhere on the site in one of the OTTs or one of the last movie you saw threads. At first I could never stand the first, but over the years as I've seen it on TV and on DVD a couple of times, it has grown on me. It's hilariously bad - with mounds of plot holes - but at least the action is good and Jason Statham kicks ass and is fun to watch.

I really do like Transporter 2 though. I feel that they improved everything that was bad in Transporter 1 and made a funner action movie with at least some sense of a plot. It really is just overall better.
Crank is easily one of my top favorite movies. I've seen it like 5x's and never gets old.
As Borat would say, I like you!
Crank was far better than The Transporter. I wanted to walk out on that one (but I'm not the one who drove).
Again, Transporter 1 yes, Tranporter 2 no.
Hell no its not...take that shit out of your house. After watching it, I wanted my 2hrs of life back.
Ultraviolet is an absolute travesty to the eyes comparable and on par to a Uwe Boll film.

she can't move that fast with those... things...
That was quite possibly the worst scene in any movie. Ever. :shame:
yeah that scene and the whole transporter 1 movie was pathetic. it was big hit ( marky mark's action film) horrible. but transporter 2 was awesome . i think transporter 1 tried to pretend it was a good action film where transporter 2 knew what it was and didnt try to pretend to be anything else and the fight scenes were awesome. yeah its hard not to roll your eyes at his car flip bomb removal but the rest of the film was cool . oh yeah the only good thing about transporter 1 was the beginning car chase.

one film i doubt many of you saw that i think ( though shot like a mountain dew commercial with way too many repeat scenes) was Ong Bak. the action in that film kicked ass ( fightwise) and was awesome to see becase each hit seemed like it felt so damn painful and looked painful as hell too.
Don't get me wrong, Fearless and Hero are the better films but the Uncut version of Unleashed is totally worth a watching.

Personally, I dug The One for the fact that it was a film that Jet Li joined at pretty much the last minute as The Rock dropped out. And though some it was a bit too over the top, Jet and Corey Yuen really hit it out of the park in that final fight scene.

I have to say I'm kinda torn on the title War as they went from one generic title (Rogue) to an even more generic title (War)
jet li's best films were his once upon a time in china films where he plays juang fe hung ( i know i butchered the hell out of that ) . you need to see them subtitled though to get the real effect but that series but the action is amazing stuff.
so what?!?!?! she can rock out, which imo is MUCH better
Had no idea who you guys were talking about this Rayko (Dig Jelly) so I googled her and found this:

Now back to the movie War, just came back from it and it was pretty good, nice story and some great action scenes.

I'm wondering if I should see this or Superbad with my friends. What's the general consensus of this one so far? Does it have more action than Superbad has funny?
