What is the most anticipated movie of 2005?

2005 looks to be one year where there truly is almost nothing I am looking forward to in the theatres that I just have to see. The only movies that I'm hoping to see are Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Sin City, Charlie and the Choclate Factory, maybe Fantastic Four buy I'm waiting for some reviews and some more previews of it, and The War of the Worlds. Elektra looks interesting and more promising than Daredevil was so maybe it will draw me out to the theatres. Hitch looks pretty good but nothing that I'm drooling and can't wait to see. This year really isn't like year's past where you had great movies lining up one after another or anticipating LOTR and Spiderman and Xmen in a year.

There are some other movies that look fairly decent that I'll probably see just because I'll probably have nothing better to do.

Sin City
Unleashed
Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Batman Begins

That's all i RELLY want to see, but I'll probably catcha few others.

I can't think of anything I'm looking forward to in '05. That's kind of odd considering I usually keep up to date on these things. It may be a lame year in the theatres after all.

I wanna see it also. Just watched the box set a few weeks a go and loved it.
 
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is definitely #1 for me. I'm also interested in Fantastic Four and Batman Begins, though. Also, I think The Corpse Bride is supposed to hit in 2005. I'm pretty psyched for that one, too.

Just did some research, and it looks like the Firefly movie is called "Serenity" and is currently due out in September. Also the trailer is supposed to be out in May attached to the Hitcher's Guide
 
It's not necessarily my most anticipated movie of 2005 (Either Revenge of the Sith or Batman Begins), but two movies that look damn interesting that haven't been mentioned are Sahara and A Sound of Thunder. Sahara is the first of the Dirk Pitt books by Clive Cussler to be translated into a movie, where Dirk Pitt is basically sorta like Bond if Bond liked the ocean and scuba diving, while A Sound of Thunder is based on a Ray Bradbury story about a group who goes back into the past to hunt dinosaurs, but because one member steps on a butterfly, the whole world in the future will be destroyed if they can't find a way to fix it.
 
These are in no particular order after the first choice:

1. Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith(I'm a huge SW fan, so this was a no brainer)
2. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
3. Robots(I liked Ice Age and this looks much better, and it's got Robin Williams)
4. Sin City
5. The Longest Yard(Can't wait to see it with all of the wrestlers(Nash, Austin, Goldberg) and actors(Sandler, Chris Rock, etc.)
6. Hitch(seems like it could be good)
7. Be Cool(The Rock in an afro, need I say more?)
8. The Weather Man/Lord of War(I'm a huge Nicolas Cage fan, so this has to be up here)
9. Batman Begins
10. War of the Worlds
 
SW episode III to me is like being executed. You know it's coming, can't escape it, you dread it's coming, yet you also yearn to get it over with. Part of me thinks maybe the last two movies have been some form of cruel joke, that maybe Lucas can pull off a movie that could stand on it's own merit if it weren't treading on a beloved franchise (if Jamie Foxx can go from Bunz to Ray Charles, you never know). Yet logic whispers cruelly in my ear informing me of the inevitable dissapointment...

On a more positive note, I am really looking forward to Serenity, and am intrigued by Sin City, Batman Begins, War of the Worlds, and King Kong.
 
I hope The New World is good.

It would be nice if The Longest Yard remake will be good, but I have my doubts.

It's based on an excellent Frank Miller noir comic. The movie poster of Jessica Alba that looked like a Britney Spears Pepsi ad still makes me VERY wary, however... Does everything have to be turned into a movie?
 
Episode III and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory......Its a good thing that there aren't gonna be a crapload of sequels this year.
 
Well, I just looked at IMDB and saw that Robert Rodriguez is helming it... I'll give it a chance and hope that theater poster was just misguided marketing...

Actually, "Raise the Titanic" was the first (1980). Clive Cussler had at one time said he would not allow any more Dirk Pitt books made into movies because of how bad this one was messed up (and it was). That being said, thanks for mentioning "Sahara", I was not aware of this movie. I guess somebody must have left a bag of money for Cussler to change his mind. Hope this one is good. Only thing that really comes to mind as a "must see" for me is Batman Begins.
There are a few decent looking movies that ill probably see, and a bunch more crappy ones that friends will drag me to.

After that, I dunno, the Doom movie looks interesting... um... shoot, I know, I heard from someone there'd be a "Saw" sequel out late this year. War of the Worlds, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Fantastic Four, Bewitched, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Amityville Horror remake, Ring 2 (the first one scared the shit out of me), Alone in the Dark.

Probably a lot of others that will jump out closer to when it comes time for the trailers and stuff. I'm more interested in what comes out on TV this year... good year for TV. Family Guy? American Dad? Oh yes. Add to that, new season of Alias (with no interruptions this time), new 24, and all my other shows that are still going (The OC, Scrubs, Arrested Development, Desperate Housewives), and it is going to be a great year, possibly. Now, if 311 and Better Than Ezra release CD's this year, and Starcraft: Ghost doesn't get pushed back any more, this will be an excellent year.

Sin City is the only really must see title of 2005.

Episode 3 I'll most likely see and hate, Hayden Christiansen is really the worst thing to ever happen to acting, and I hated all previous SW movies. Batman Begins has some potential, but I'm still not entirely sure if they can pull it off. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory I'll see, but I have a feeling it's going to be butchered.

I wonder what Hitchhikers Guide will be like. I saw the teaser trailer which doesn't give much away. I read most of the books years ago--trippy but cool. Probably will be real different but the movie has my interest.

Holy crap...You mean there are actual other people in the world who enjoy Alias, 24, Arrested Development AND The OC??? You're my new hero! :wink:
 
Star Wars Episode III more than anything. I don't think I've been so psyched to see a movie in my life. I also want to see King Kong a lot.
 
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory way past the others for me at #1. Then (in order), The Corpse Bride, Howl's Moving Castle, Goblet of Fire, White Noise, War of the Worlds, Batman Begins, Star Wars Episode III, The Interpreter,

I may end up seeing Ring 2 just for the hell of it, and Assault on Precinct 13 looks sort of good.

And there's this other movie I seriously can't think of. All I know is that is has a pretty famous actor in it whose job is to erase files of people or something, and meets a british women, like a love story/thriller. But I really want to see it and I'm going insane cuz I can't think of the damn title since IMDB wiped it off the front page, damn you IMDB...

I'm a huge Cussler fan and I hadn't heard about Sahara either until I saw the preview before Flight of the Phoenix. It was kind of funny cause the whole time during the preview I'm sitting there thinking "wow, they completely ripped off a Cussler novel for this" then I'm thinking "yep, this is almost exactly like Sahara, wow they just rip ideas off don't they?". Sure enough right after that I heard "based on the best selling novel Sahara by Clive Cussler" :shock:

It looks like it has some real potential but my only complaint is that Matthew McConaughey seems too young to play Dirk Pitt, but then again Sahara is one of his older novels so I suppose Dirk would be younger in it. Also I was just looking at the IMDB movie listing for Sahara and apparently Clive Cussler's daughter is going to be in it.
