What's in the PS Store (5/31/16): Neon Chrome, Oxenfree, Primal, There Came an Echo, Plague Inc, & More!

Why is there a maximum amount of money I can have in my psn account? And that amount seems to be around $150, I just got a $50 gift card and I already have $115 in my account and it says I would exceed the maximum amount.. wtf..

Disappointing for Plus imho. Have/are they going to announce the rest of August's Plus stuff, or is it going to be week to week announcements?

Aw crap, I guess I need to grab R-Type Delta...

This delisting crap is one of my biggest gripes with digital downloads. I mean, one of the big advantages is supposed to be that you can access games that stores wouldn't stock anymore.

That's not what he's talking about. He's talking about the concept of digital distribution being a place where games are not supposed to ever be taken down, but the reality of the situation is that companies shut down and their products inevitably have to come down with them as the rights to keep selling them are gone at that point. Retail stores suffer the same thing when that happens, as they sell their remaining stock and it's never restocked again.

If you want to get into a boring physical vs. digital discussion, then I'll stop it now because we all know the pros and cons so there's nothing to discuss.
Stores don't stock copies of games that aren't produced anymore because the developer/publisher is dead either.
But Irem isn't dead, (I thought they had closed down too, but this isn't the case) they just don't have a US presence anymore...

http://www.irem.co.jp/menu/index.html

Their Japanese website was last updated on 8/3/12, so they pulled a Sunsoft and retreated to Japan solely. Doesn't make sense they killed their PS3 development (one 100% complete game, Disaster Report 4, and an very work in progress Bumpy Trot 2 aka Steambot Chronicles 2)

Hmm...did a quick search and couldn't find the sister thread to this in the deals section. Went to page 2 and didn't see it there, probably should have gone to page 3.

Anyway, I might get Super Stardust HD. I don't have that on my PS3, only on PSP and don't have a Vita yet.

Broken controllers incoming, this is one of the most difficult games of last gen and has an end boss who took me 40 minutes to beat....its a rage inducing game at the end, hard as balls too. But awesome.

Nice to see we're finally getting some of the PS2 love that the UK already has.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/08/10/july-2012-psn-top-sellers-the-walking-dead-takes-the-lead/
The Walking Dead returns! After dominating the top spot in May, the Telltale Games team took the top slot once again in the month of July when Episode 2’s Add-On spurred gamers to download the core game more than any other title last month.

Though Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is well-represented on the PS Vita charts, it was the augmented reality game Table Top Tanks that actually snagged the top spot in July. Escape Plan saw a boost, due in part to its new Underworld DLC, but I’m sure we’re all curious to see if Sound Shapes makes the charts next month.

Check out the others below, and let us know what you think in the comments!

Movers and Shakers

 • The Walking Dead – The release of the second episode, Starved For Help, spurred strong pickup for the Walking Dead, landing the apocalyptic title in the top spot for July.
 • Rainbow Moon – A potent debut for this well-liked PS3-exclusive strategy RPG. Who says Eastern RPGs are dead?
 • Batman: Arkham City – The release of Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises may have something to do with Arkham City’s nabbing the number 10 spot. Or maybe Batman is just awesome.
 • Dyad – The exclusive PSN racer/puzzle/shooter hybrid managed to debut at number 12 in July. Try it, you’ll like it!
 • Quantum Conundrum – The physics-based puzzler from one the driving forces behind Portal struck a chord with gamers in July, landing it at number 17.

The Drop for this week:
PlayStation Network

Papo & Yo – Papo & Yo is the story of a young boy, Quico, and his best friend, Monster. Monster is a huge beast with razor-sharp teeth, but that doesn’t scare Quico away from playing with him. That said, Monster does have a very dangerous problem: an addiction to poisonous frogs. The minute he sees one hop by, he’ll scarf it down and fly into a violent, frog-induced rage where no one, including Quico, is safe. And yet, Quico loves his Monster and wants to save him.

CSI: Fatal Conspiracy – CSI: Fatal Conspiracy features five connected cases that will allow players to experience an authentic crime-solving video game with real CSI characters, heart-pounding interrogations and enhanced graphics.

Shinobi – Following a massive earthquake, Tokyo lies in ruin as mysterious forces seek out and obliterate what is left of the Oboro clan. In this rebirth of the classic SEGA action franchise, you take the role of Hotsuma, leader of the Oboro clan, as he battles through the demon-filled streets of a post-apocalyptic Tokyo in search of answers.

Using a unique stealth-dash technique, Hotsuma has the ability to move from enemy to enemy so quickly that a ghostly after image is left behind. This not only confuses Hotsuma’s enemies, but is also a key component in chaining attacks together to consecutively destroy hordes of enemies. “Ninja Magic” also provides Hotsuma with the upper hand in more desperate situations. In addition, Hotsuma has mastered the ability to run along walls, as well as scale buildings to reach hidden areas and special foes.

$20 for Jojo? No thanks.

Never played GunGrave. Any opinions? I was thinking of picking up Shinobi.

Also, out of curiosity, what were the last few PSOne Classics released and when? I feel like they're too far and few between anymore.

All i wanna know is will counterstrike have aim assist like fail of duty or spotting like battlefield?

I own both, the original is a bit better, but then again I like the concept and character (I own the anime and the art book).

It's a third person shooter (think a more action based Max Payne 1 without the slo-mo) that has a goofy, semi-confusing story, but if you look into the other media it makes a lot more sense, since they expand upon the story in the game, and retcon a few things in the process.

The gfx are cel shaded and the game can be rough at times, (difficulty wise) however the big kicker is during boss fights when a boss has been damaged enough you can use a super attack on them which Grave will whip out his coffin and go to town on the boss with the awesome Gungrave title theme blaring during this time.

The second game is more refined, however they locked it at 30FPS, Grave doesn't look like a cowboy anymore, and the story is still confusing, but has some really good voice acting in it, and music too, I love Rocket Billy's guitar licks, and a new version of the title theme which is really good upgrade to it. The final boss battle is over the top, but cool too.

If you haven't played it before I give it a wholehearted recommendation (as long as you know what you're buying, I think you'll enjoy it), it was one of the criminally overlooked titles Sega brought to the PS2 that nobody played, and then Mastiff brought out the sequel and nobody played that either (it had a limited release).

I'd suggest playing the original first if possible, then getting this one and playing through for a more enjoyable experience, nice to see some of the better Euro PSN PS2 games migrating over here as well to get more exposure. Be nice if Sega would get Blood Will Tell on PSN, everyone should play it, it's that good.

The Drop for this week:
PlayStation Network

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron – With the stakes higher and scale bigger than ever, fans will control an unprecedented assortment of Transformers characters armed with authentic transformation designed around their unique abilities, including Grimlock’s nearly indestructible T-Rex form and the legendary Combaticons forming into the colossal Bruticus. Taking the franchise’s competitive online play to all-new heights, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron pits players head-to-head in blistering Autobot vs. Decepticon matches.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PS3 and PS Vita) – Once underway, players take the role of a one-man army determined to stop a deadly high-tech weapon from falling into the hands of a highly elite resistance group known as Dead Cell. Users must once again utilize their skills in stealth, weaponry, and counter-terrorism to fight off the competing powers; and as they progress through a twisting storyline, eventually destroy the gigantic war machine, Metal Gear Ray.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS3 and PS Vita) -- In the struggle to achieve world peace and world dominance in the Cold War period, rivaling governments are secretly developing weapons technology that could threaten the future existence of life. Destined to be the first, a race ensues to become the ultimate nation. A special elite tactical soldier is summoned to penetrate deep in the heart of enemy territory and obtain Intel about “Metal Gear”, a prototype weapon with nuclear capabilities. This is your mission and you must infiltrate alone. As “Naked Snake,” you must outsmart enemies with camouflage, close-quarters combat, stalking, interrogating, climbing, hunting and treating injuries in this critical chapter of the Metal Gear saga.

Retro/Grade – Retro/Grade stars ace fighter pilot Rick Rocket who has just saved the universe. Unfortunately, the massive destruction he left in his wake has caused a temporal anomaly that reversed the flow of time. You must assume control of Rick’s spacecraft and fight through the epic space battle … in reverse.

Michael Jackson: The Experience – He is the legendary King of Pop! Featuring an immersive and interactive experience for the Playstation Move that enables players to step into the shoes of Michael Jackson himself and re-live his most iconic moments through their own performance. The unparalleled tracklist features many of MJ’s biggest hits including Billie Jean, Beat It, Smooth Criminal and many more. There are an array of his awe-inspiring dance moves for players to learn and emulate within the game. Additionally, fans can sing along and test their vocal skills while immersed in the performance.

Deep Black – The unique underwater setting of Deep Black combines action-packed battles with an immersive story line that blends science-fiction, espionage and bio-terror. Realistic underwater physics add intensity to this third-person action thriller.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure HD – Based on the popular comic book series, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure HD is an arcade fighter that lets you duke it out with your favorite characters from the comics. JoJo must travel to Egypt to find a cure for his sick mother. Each fighting character has his or her own Stand, a guardian spirit that aids in the battle. Unlike mortal humans though, Stands can reanimate quickly after defeat, so use this to your advantage as you try to defeat the evil Dio and his minions.

Gungrave: Overdose – Developed by Red Entertainment, Gungrave O.D. takes the carnage-based formula of the original, adds more characters and some new abilities to the mix. Expanding on its predecessor, it throws you in a cel-shaded world of exaggerated firefights and near delirious action sequences. In addition to franchise hero Grave, there are two additional fighters to choose from: Rocketbilly Redcadillac and Juji Kabane, who meet up with Grave at the beginning of the game. With the exception of the very first training battle, all three characters have the same set of missions to go through and deliver a different experience.

Here's the full post with the PS+ update for the next two weeks:
It’s been quite a week for PlayStation Plus since the last time we chatted. Earlier we announced that Plus will be coming to PS Vita and that it will also be getting an upgrade in Online Game Save storage (from 150MB to a beefy 1GB). We’ll have news for you on when these will hit and what these updates will be all about soon enough; until then, let’s take a look at some of the great discounts coming in at the end of the month, and let’s welcome PS3 Full Game Borderlands into the Instant Game Collection in September! It’s a lot to take in so without further ado, let’s get into the preview for the August 28th and September 4th PlayStation Plus updates.

August 28th PlayStation Plus Update

It’s a steal at $2.99 for Plus members.

While you’ll find the game on sale at $5.00, you can also snag the game’s all new DLC hitting with this update for about $1 a pop. You’ll find all new areas and stages to download if you’re craving more of that Spelunker HD action.

September 4th PlayStation Plus Update

Get your rolling start ready and pick up SEGA’s Daytona USA for only $2.99. The original game, redone in HD delivers the classic racing experience, and brings in new features including online play.

Greed Corp

50% off the Sale Price for PlayStation Plus Members (PSN Sale Price: $4.99, PS Plus Price: $2.50)

Greed Corp is an award winning, innovative turn-based strategy game, situated in a world inspired by the industrial revolutions and their destructive effects on the environment. Find the delicate balance between harvesting the land for resources and preserving it to stay alive. Will you defend your territory or sacrifice it to keep it out of enemy hands?

That’s it for now; check the PlayStation Store Updates for more details as they come, and we’ll see you again soon to deliver more PlayStation Plus goodness through September and beyond. See you in the comments!
At 50% off, the add-ons will make it $20 total compared to the $15 that they charged for the GOTY bundle last year.

The Walking Dead Episodes 1/2 are going to be expiring with next week's update, so that's what Borderlands will be replacing.

For those interested in the expansion, if you know someone/can rent the GOTY edition that has the DLC on a disk, you can install it from the disk on multiple systems. I bought the GOTY, friend's bought the regular and chipped in to split the cost of the GOTY so we could all have the DLC (which I still haven't played, actually...)

Borderlands is great and all, but it makes yet another month of stuff I already have. Hopefully more will be added than just that game. Ah well, you can't win em all.
