which system should i get Midway Arcade Treasure ? Xbox Or Ps 2 ? is there any difference between the graphics on the two system. the real reason why i wanna get this game is because of Mortal Kombat And NARC. let me know what system u people think i should get it for thanks for the time

I have had a tough time deciding this as well. My biggest concerns were the controller and memory. I just decided which one was more important. And then I made the decision to go with the X Box since it has a harddrive. And although I like the PS2 controller, my memory cards are strapped for space and will be even moreso tomorrow when I get Noctrine. Looks like this mean I am buying a game for all 3 consoles.

Just a word of warning, the general consensus seems to be that there are some serious emulation issues with the MK games. Haven't seen MAT2 in action myself, but I know a lot of longtime MK fans like me have been very disappointed thus far.

The issues have been with shadow flickering and music and they are most prominent in the PS2 version. All the review point out that the Gamecube version seems to be the best (but the control is not good), Xbox next and then ps2.

I would go with the Xbox version. I have all three consoles and I'm going with Xbox.

Hmm, I'm not that concerned about control since I'd be plugging in an arcade controller to play the MK games. I might end up with the GC version then.

Concerning the PS2 version (quoted from gamespy):
Special mention must be made of this version's emulation of Smash TV, which has scrolling problems and only runs at half the framerate of the real thing. The Xbox version runs at full speed with no glitches, so those looking to relive this classic shooter should absolutely avoid the PS2 version of Treasures.

Every game on this disc is present and accurately emulated in MAME. I really don't see the point of buying this.

Despite having ROMs, I like having "official" versions when they are made available. Mega Man Anniversary Collection is a good example where, despite having ROMs, I consider the purchase money well-spent. Emulation was spot-on in that collection, plus you had a nice interface and some extras.

I won't be getting MAT2 though, because of all the flaws. If I did buy it I would never play it; I'd prefer the less glitchy version that lets me play online (MAME + Kaillera).

If this collection was bug-free and had online play, I would have been all over it. I would gladly pay $50 for that.

The "serious issues" are related to minor things like the shadows of the characters disappearing, or sounds that are supposedly not as good as the original. While both may be true (though the sound seems fine to me), they play as good as the arcade versions, and are definitely the best versions of their respective games to hit the consoles.

Hey, I'm an unashamed MK nerd, so it is my right--nay, my DUTY--to get pissed off at the likes of flicky shadows and music playing during fatalities. Plus, once I've dipped into the forbidden world of MAME, I am spoiled and expect everything in a retail package to be perfect. :p

Question to anyone with the game: when you get Smoke in MK3, does it save? Or do you have to enter the Ultimate Kombat Kode every time you play? I've heard conflicting reports on this. It may vary with the consoles from what I've heard.

Also I've heard that it's impossible to fight Smoke in MKII because the options menu was mapped to the START button. Has anyone been able to access him?

this is also what i read in gamespot's review. i'd say go with the cube or xbox version.

I spent the past 5 hours playing MAT 2 for the PS2 and there is nothing wrong with the games I played (MKII, MK3, NARC, Total Carnage).

They removed scoreboards and It's only live aware. But most of the scoreboards were screwed by glitchs or action replay anyways. I think all three (GC,PS2 and XBox) versions have been rumored to be just as good as eachother. So get whatever you find cheapest/what system your loyal to the most. :p

I heard something on IGN about a lot of the Xbox version's discs being pressed incorrectly so there were a lot of defective copies out there. If you did get a defective one, I'm sure you could exchange it, I'm just mentioning it.
