Who knows the story behind the princess's peach, toadstool and daisy

I remember always calling the princess in mario games princess toadstool. But on sunshine it's peach. Also on mario tennis and mario kart they include daisy who is basically just a brunette princess. Where did she come from. And what happened to toadstool?
 
Peach = princess Toadstool, From SMB, SMB2, SMB3, SM64, MK64, SMK, etc.

Daisy is the Princess from Super Mario Land (GB)
 
Peach Toadstool is her name, IIRC. I believe they just began calling her by her first name, Peach, becauase she began being a playable character in games. Plus, she needed a first name anyway...

Becaise Peach is a stupid name, and it first appeared on that stupid game Mario 64 which sucked a lot and ruined the mario series

In Japan, the Princess' name has always been "Peach", it was changed to "Toadstool" when Super Mario Brothers was released in America. Her Japanese and American names were combined into her current title, "Princess Peach Toadstool" when Super Mario 64 was released in the United States.

No, you're right. I just played the NES version last week. AFAIK, that was the first appearance of the name, not in Mario 64.

Don't forget she's of the nobility so she has two sets of names. Her family and given name, and then the name that comes with her office. So if she abdicated the throne to marry the commoner Mario she'd also be giving up the Toadstool name. Which makes MArio the modern Wallis Simpson.

After writing that I now have this image of a news report telling of Mario and Peach's death in a car crash in a tunnel near Paris while they were trying to evade persistent papparazzi.
 
Oh come on people we all know Peach and Bowser are getting it on. And that Mario is just there for the public. Its like Romeo and Juliet. But this time its Bowser and Peach.

Peach has proven she can take care of herself.
And come on 8+ worlds to "save the princess"and the whole "Sorry Mario but out Princess is in another Castle" come on. Even at 7(years old) I knew something was going on between Peach and Bowser.

And why else would Bowser tell Bowser Jr that Peach was his Mom. It may have been false, but Peach didn't look to surprized.
 
A very good point..... And they DID team up in Super Mario RPG, and Peach was always giving Hugs and Group Hugs in that game.
