Why is overstock.com so cheap? Are they LEGIT?

CAGiversary!
I don't understand why their video game hardware is cheaper than other places (especially with the 10% activation coupon). That makes their Xbox 360 sell for only $360 or even a $130 PS2 goes for $117. Are they legit? I want to know before I place my order there.

P.S. Couldn't tell if this was the right forum.

I've purchased plenty of things through Overstock, including a DS lite. Haven't had any real problems, although they are kinda slow.

Overstock.com is very high in the online-only lineup. I would put them right under Amazon and few notches higher than Buy.com at the very least.

Most complaints from CAG consist of pre-order delays and OOS or incorrect pricing fiascos. (they don't honor price mistakes like some retailers do)

As for "how do they do it?": no B&M = cheaper prices with the same profit.

For the most part, I've been happy with my purchases from Overstock. My biggest complaint was some of the packaging that they ship their products - specifically when I order books.

I hope that they do okay....I just ordered the entire 7 season series of next gen Trek for $265 shipped. Not bad for 7 seasons on DVD and about 140 episodes. Also got the DS9 for the same price.

The $307 deal for the 360 last week shipped was great too.

It's very simple, they want more buisness and are willing to take a small hit on selling an xbox 360 near cost in the hopes that you'll come by and buy more later.

buy.com recently sent me a 10% off with the hopes that I would buy there again, although they limited the make to $15 off.

Buy.com's annoying because their 10% off coupons don't stack with free shipping. $4.40 shipping for EACH game stinks. At least Overstock had 10% off and free shipping codes earlier this year. The only thing I want at Buy.com right now is Castlevania:poR, which is at $33.99 for preorder. But looking at other sites, it seems it's supposed to retail at $39.99???

Target give you 10% of your first order if you sing up for their credit card. This also makes the XBOX 360 = $360.

Anyway, I suspect that Overstock may buy odd lots from the manufacturer or may buy in large enough volume to get a discount and pass the savings on to you.

I bought some defective stuff from them and it took forever to get a refund. I did get it though. I wasn't impressed with their Customer Service.

They're better than most however. Just recently they shipped ATL for $0.00 plus S+H. And a year or so back they shipped a bunch of video games at $2 a pop - although that may not have really been a price mistake. But they do sometimes cancel for mistakes.
