Hey. I'm not really a big fan of the Wii but own one. I haven't had much desire to play until I saw this.

Playing shooting games really wasn't as fun as I expected with the Wii and I think it was because the wii mote and wii zapper are lame for shooting games. Checking the other guns, most don't appeal to me but this Sniper rifle looks so slick!

Amazon is sending it to me tomorrow or the day after and I'm gonna get some spray paint and do some snow camo type of thing for even more realism. I am even considering putting some fishing tackles (2lb or more) somewhere in the compartments so the gun will be heavier.:)

Here's another one I will get eventually.

This screams Resident Evil. Very sexy.

Anyone got either of these? Comments? Any shooting game recommendations?
I have ghost squad, COD 5, Cabelas 2010, resident evils. I am REALLY eager to play with the Sniper Rifle. I even got the wii motion plus that I told myself I would never get. I am so serious to play, lol.:bouncy:

edit..
Sorry, I see that there is already a thread about something similar. I searched wii guns but nothing turned up..

I like the overall design of the shotgun, especially the implementation of the nunchuck piece on the back. It's definitely one of the better changes. That being said, the idea of using the pump action for the A button is just asinine. If there's one piece that will end up getting broken... it's the pump action piece. Also, I dont know how familiar these guys are with wii shooter game control schemes... because both of those guns appear to be impractical for the non-point and click games (just about every shooter except the nerf games, chicken shoot/shovelware)

Yes, the Zapper is just retarded looking... but Nintendo actually put some thought into the design. Each shooter has a different control scheme and many just arent "point and shoot" with the a-button to reload. Resident Evil 4 utilizes the +, -, 1 and 2 buttons... which the makers of those two guns appear to ignore.

Had the makers of these guns made the set-up echo the Time Crisis guns, that would probably have been the best idea. That way you could still utilize the +, -, 1, 2 and A keys by placing them on the back/side of the gun... and put a little joystick attachment on the left side.

As far as shooter recommendations? Ghost Squad and the RE ports are great.... some notable games you didn't put up there would have to be Link's Xbow Training (can be had for cheap at gamestop... few dollars) and Dead Space Extraction (high recommendation, 82 average from metacritic too. Good rail shooter). I would recommend both of those. Dead Rising: Chop til you Drop is okay.

Thanks, I will check out those other titles. The Link game name is a bit weird for a Wii game (Xbox training).

To be honest, I haven't even considered the other buttons you mentioned (1, 2, +, -). I'm sure it'll be a problem when I play a game that needs it but playing some shooters with a official looking gun is good enough for the moment. Well, maybe there are ways to press those buttons on the gun. I'll find out soon enough.

I also liked the nunchuck on the buckshot. It looked like he had a custom colored nunchuck to match the buckshot or maybe it was a covering? The pump action looks pretty solid to me. The thing is made out of metal so I believe it will be sturdy enough. Of course with enough pumping I am sure it will loosen up a bit. Or a few misuses...

I also wanted to mention there are guns like the shotgun that come bundled with cabelas 2010. Now this gun looks nice and all but if you look closely the trigger is on the nunchuck. Now that is stupid because the button to shoot is B on the wii mote and that is NOT the trigger. I hear the trigger activates Zoom. I bought this and canceled after some research ($30 amazon DOTD). Man, that would have pissed me off if I got it and found out by playing. I really couldn't believe they would make a gun for the wii and not have the trigger to shoot. I thought it was a BIG factor in purchasing.

heres a review on the game and gun. Never mentions my problem with the shot gun though.

wow, the CTA digital guy sounded like someone interviewing one of the Mets.

The sniper rifle looks awesome (not sarcasm), at least after wasting $29.99 on it I can mount it on my wall so my wii won't be lonely anymore (moderate sarcasm). Hopefully no idiot spray paints them black and then gets shot by police. If it's going to be $29.99 it's gotta come with a game or bundled with something, til then I'll still use the Nyko Perfect Shot(s).

It doesn't look like the sniper rifle supports Wii motion plus, which would be a big mistake.

It does support wii motion plus. I even bought motion plus specifically for the sniper rifle. Check the amazon link in the OP for a better video review.

I wish it came bundled with a game. I was VERY hesitant on buying it because of the price ($35 cut down from $40) but the shooting games I have are no fun at all and they needed something. Didn't know what it was until I saw the sniper rifle.

I am going to spray paint it but I have no intentions on bringing it outside. If it turns out well maybe I will post something here. Gonna try to do a snow camo look since it is already white.

So it came yesterday! At first impression I was like "meh" but once I pieced it together it was great. All the buttons on the wii mote are accessible because it just pops in and there is no cover for that. The trigger is good and the weight is fair (with the wii mote and nunchuck). Without it feels like nothing. Maybe a bit over 1 lb maybe 2? Adding more weight will be a bad idea since playing with it was quite tiring.

After 15-30 minutes of ghost squad my trigger hand was a bit sore. I noticed the position of my hand was a little awkward because of the width of the handle and where the trigger is located. This gun probably benefits someone with larger than average hands but I can manage just fine. Pressing the trigger and moving the nunchuck joystick simultaneously is very uncomfortable. Again, someone with larger hands would probably not find it so problematic.

The scope is just for looks but I actually look through it and play! Pointless but adds to the realism. It didn't line up too well in ghost squad but once I backed up even more there was improvement. I doubt they intended for the scope to be used in game.

So yep, this gun is making me play more Wii as I intended. I definitely have plans on playing much more this weekend.
