CAGiversary!
In the past half-hour I've developed a real affection for Wii Tennis.
Alright. I've heard a lot of people not like Wii Tennis. Which is cool. But... I think maybe it's just one of those games that grows on you. If you've tried it but didn't care for it, try this out:
First, just take smooth strokes. if you're switching from forehand to backhand, go slow and it won't register as a swing.
Once you can consistently hit the ball... turn your hand over as you swing. Start with the Wiimote face down and as you swing, rotate it up. You can do it vice versa and you'll put sick, sick spin on the ball.
To the point where it hits the ground and shoots off in a different direction.
Now, it's not a perfect science, I'm only at about 80% of the shot I want coming out but it's probably something I'm doing wrong.
And the funny thing is, it becomes easier to put spin on the ball if you use a whole arm swing (I used to just flick my wrist).
It's not there yet, but it's very slowly creeping up into "Virtual Tennis" fun for me. Which is a tall ass order.
Do me a favor and try it, if you still don't like it, no big deal. But just by working the english in, the game has really opened up for me.
