2 - if they add achievements, I hope that they would unlock right away if you already met the requirements. Put way too much time into that game.

3 - I see two Kinectimals in WP8 marketplace. I think one is unleashed without "unleashed" in the title.

Anyone have trouble with Kinectimals (the free one) or Real Soccer 2013 on WP8? Rs2013 acts like it will load but goes right back to the app list.  Seems like I tried Kinectimals once, but now it goes to the first load screen then goes to a black screen. Then nothing. I have a fully updated HTC One M8.

I posted about this a few weeks ago. I played them fine before the Cortana update on my Lumia 1520, but after the update I had the same problems. At least for me, Cortana update broke a few games and apps and made them unusable. Not sure how many phones it affects, but looks like it's not just me anymore.

Real Soccer 2013 is a horrible cash grab freemium game, so no loss there. I'm glad I finished Kinectimals Unleashed before the update.

If I'm looking to get a new phone and I don't want to go the Apple or Droid route what WP should I be looking at?  I haven't kept up on things much lately.

If you want a really high end WP8, get a 1520, or if you want the decent end, get either a 920, 925, or Icon (930)

Then it's really just a choice between the HTC M8 and the Samsung ATIV SE. Both have Quadcore processors and 2 GB of RAM, so they're powerful and can run anything. I would choose the M8 out of the two, but you might read up on both.
Thanks, I'll check out the write ups on the site. I'm guessing that Verizon still isn't a strong supporter of WP if they don't have the Lumia 1520?

No prob. Verizon's the second largest supporter of Windows Phone, but AT&T has the biggest pockets and frequently shells out for exclusive rights to some of the more desirable phones. But specs-wise (excluding camera and screen size), both of those Verizon phones are equivalent to the 1520.

You might keep in mind that in a year, Windows 10 phones will launch that can run tablet apps in addition to phone stuff. But that's a ways off, so it shouldn't matter if you need a new phone right now.

I wonder when we'll hear anything about new Microsoft/Nokia devices. Even though I already upgraded earlier in the year I'm still excited to hear about new Windows Phone devices, but it's been way too quiet from them.

Maybe for Windows 10.

Zoo Tycoon is the only game, that I've noticed, that changes the color of the status bar (?). The thing that shows time, battery life, wifi, etc. You'll only see it when closing the game. Strange that they would change that since you don't even see it while playing.

Yeah, still haven't played through the first because I didn't dig the controls. I'm not a huge Halo fan and my game playing on my phone is dwindling so I may skip it. Not 100% sure I'll even still have a WP by then.

Edit: wow I just reread my post and I didn't mean for it to be such a downer. I'll just say good news for those who are interested.

Ugh, where's the Windows 8.1 update for the Lumia 521!!!!! Come on already. Anyone have any insight? (I have TMobile if that matters)
I've given up on mine getting updated. I picked up an 822 a couple of days ago for $80. I know it's an older phone, but it's unlocked and all I need is that additional 8 GB of space and the 1 GB of RAM. :)

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous that they still haven't rolled it out yet.

Is it even possible to sign up for the preview now that it's "sorta" out for general release?
I think the preview is open all the time. The preview wasn't only for the big Cortana update. I was in it for several months before that so I could put apps that I make with Windows App Studio on my phone.

I downloaded it today on my 925. Its pretty nice update.
So to get access to the developer version you have to pay $19 to register as a developer? Money aside, I refuse to reward Microsoft, T-Mobile or Verizon for being lazy and not releasing the update in a timely manner. I'll stick with vanilla 8 for now.

It only costs money if you want to put your apps onto the marketplace. Developer accounts are free. Which is why all of my apps are private. Not that they'd be worthy of marketplace status anyways.

EDIT: 99% of the time I use phone version of WPC. Did not realize how weird Desktop version was until now. Some spacing issues.

EDIT2: Head Soccer is addicting. The bots have super cheap abilities, but not impossible to beat.

Spacing issues you say?

Has anyone encountered any glitches while playing Terraria (WP)?

I recently made full Adamantite armor and when I used the shortcut button to auto switch out the armor on with that one, I got my armor I had equipped (full Mythril) but when I checked my character, it duplicated my Mythril armor and I lost my Adamantite armor! :(

I've run into a few glitches, but not that one. Check to see if they went into your cosmetic slots.

I have given up the the miner pants. If they fix the broken slime achievement, I will continue my quest for pants.

Nope, ain't there, I have my full Meteor Armor as cosmetic, it literally duplicated my Mythril armor, I pretty much waste 56 bars of Adamantite for Mythril....:(

When something like that happens, it might be a good time to duplication glitch only to get the stuff you should not have lost anyways. Warning though, in any game with duplication glitches it can become addicting. You start with "I'll just replace the glitched out items" and the next thing you know, you have 10 sets of all the armor.

How are ESRB ratings assigned to games on Windows Phone Marketplace? Some games don't have any. Others have ratings that don't fit with the game. Such as Head Soccer have EC Early Childhood rating. You kick the shit out of opponents, bruises and blood visible.

Its not guaranteed to duplicate, I just made another full set of Adamantite and when I was playing around with cosmetics and crap, I tried putting my Breastplate in my chest but it disappeared, trust me its not something you want to risk

Maybe its just my browser. I see about 40% of the pages blank. I'll post a screenshot later.
Turns out there is not a problem with spacing. After checking other sites I use, most of them have similar spacing. I think maybe the white background was making it feel empty.

This is what I originally thought was a spacing problem before I checked other sites and found out they all have the same thing.

I meant use a different duplication glitch to get back your items when the game screws you over like that.

Heads up! Windows Phone Central is now Windows Central. You can still use the WPCentral URL, butcha might as well start using WindowsCentral.com.

Yeah, it has to be that way because reading overly wide columns tires out the eyes. Most sites do have a background image on the sides though, including CAG here.

So I installed the 8.1 developer preview on my new Lumia 822 last night. It took FOREVER.

I haven't had a chance to play with it too much yet. It's ok so far, but not as exciting as everyone made it out to be initially. Cortana is a nice addition, but I don't see me chatting with her much. The new calendar will take some getting used to, but I can see how it is an improvement over the old one. Anything major I am missing? I guess I need to read the feature list at some point.

One thing I was dreading were the initial report that games are now mixed in with your other apps. Yes they are, but they're also listing in the Games live tile, which is where I used to launch them from anyway. So I am not sure what the earlier complaints were about. Is it something they addressed in subsequent updates so now it's not an issue?

Also, maybe it's just me, but it seems 8.1 is a little slower than 8. Maybe it's my eyes playing tricks on me. I haven't had this phone long enough I guess to be able to make a good comparison.

It might feel weird at first, but I'd recommend adding another column of tiles to your home screen. Also adding a custom background. You can now skip to specific parts of videos (maybe that was changed before 8.1). Action/notification center is helpful.
(A lot more apps use transparent tiles now than when this video was made)

There are a few other big changes that some people really like, such as quiet hours, swipe keyboard, and Cortana does a lot more than just listen to commands. She usually lets me know when there is a tornado warning in my area before the sirens go off. She is still have features added every few weeks.

Crap I got the price wrong. It is $7.99, so I'm $1 short after Bing Rewards. Is there a way to split payments on Windows Phone? I'd rather not have to use real moneys.

EDIT: Wait the link I posted still says $6.99, so I wasn't wrong. The price just went up. I wonder if I can buy from the website for $6.99.

Double crap, I linked to the wrong game. Fixing now.

You can no longer pin, uninstall, or do much of anything with Games (other than launch them) from the Games hub in WP 8.1. You have to back out and go to the apps list. It sucks.

Damit bob, get it together!! $8 is a bit more than I would like to pay, but this may never happen again.

I wonder what the Win8 deal is. I own most of the games so I can't tell which one is on sale.
