So my 360 finally died and its no longer under warrenty. So im looking for opinions on if I should wait until we see what comes out at E3 or just buy a replacment now.
the only new xbox I see on the horizon is the star wars one that got delayed again...otherwise, it's just a box that plays your games. if there's any new improvements it'll most likely be kinect related or further kinect integration into games to come.

Thats kind of what I was thinking too since they are pushing Kinect. But I thought I heard somewhere that they are due for a new console, at least an upgrade to the existing version.
the avg deals tend to be $50-$75 GC w/purchase of xbox w/kinect or 250GB xbox...that's been the avg deals since the fatboy became slim. (give or take a few dollars). if you have games you must play on the xbox between now and before E3 you might want to get your xbox fixed instead. (a $100 usually?)
if E3 says hey xbox 720, that still won't come out for another 2 years...and it'll probably be at a $399-$499 price point.
Get it now when you find a deal you want. Cosmetically they aren't going to redesign the console again and the current model has proven to be reliable. Next time you see a different looking XBox that's not a promotional reskin, it won't be a 360.
Just get a replacement now, you will miss out on a lot of game playing between now and the time the next xbox releases, we don't even know if it will be backwards compatible yet!
I agree that the Gears 3 console is pretty ugly. The MW3 one is pretty nice looking, or just plain old matte black 4 GB. Add in an HDD and you've got one of the prettier Xboxes out there, not susceptible to fingerprints, plus an extra 4 GB to do... well with what I don't know, but it's there. LOL.
But basically just wait for a good deal and go with it.
go for the better deal, i don't really care how the console looks at this point since it sits behind the TV w/the nyko fan slapped on. (mainly to avoid accidental tray opening and power downs).
so this is what's on the horizon...but i doubt it will make the predicted release date of fall 2013...but the specs for the tech sounds promising. i'm just concerned how much this puppy will run us.
Buy now; being without a 360 for any amount of time is unacceptable.
You guys really don't like the Gears console? I think it looks pretty slick.
I haven't liked any of the special edition consoles. They'd just look out of place on my TV stand where all the components are black. I'd have liked those consoles when I was younger, but not since I've gotten older and care more about home decor.
I remember reading this awhile back and thinking it's a pretty crazy idea to suggest that we still have 6 more years of Xbox 360. I'm assuming it's mostly due to the development of the "Kinect 2" that we're seeing an announcement like this. On the other hand I really don't mind not having to invest big money into a new system when I'm still seeing games on the horizon that I'm really looking forward to.
I don't want a next gen Xbox to come out for a long time, because I recently bought a 2nd Xbox for upstairs, and I rather like having one up there too, and no way could I afford 2 new consoles at release, so that would suck. So lets just stick with this one. OK?

look at the life of the PS2. i'd imagine most of us has a 1000 hour backlog of games and a bunch we haven't even opened yet. I'll still buy games for the 360 when the new one comes out or just play games on the pc.
