Playing the Need for Speed 10-hour trial and while it looks absolutely incredible to the point of photorealism, I find the game itself dull. Too much hokey story and the racing just lacks something. It's not as arcadey as Rivals and other NFS games, but not really sim either.

Seems like a huge emphasis on customization which is great for people into that sort of thing. But me? I just want to race and even the story stuff is unskippable. Don't play racing games to watch a 10 minute live action chat between a group of people I don't care about.

I'm sure it may get decent reviews for being "deeper" and all, but it's not for me.

On man, I am loving this new feature NXOE added where to watch YouTube I have to launch their Edge browser and attempt to zoom the view to a max of ~80% full screen (else it cuts off one of the sides). This is so convenient! Oh wait....
 
anyone else having issues with project spark? usually stalls on the loading screen but now it the main menu just freezes, xbone could really use some stability updates, had to hard reset today to get any game to load

It was fine for about an hour then they removed single player and matchmaking has been completely busted. Not a beta, technical test so all the sitting around in main menu is helping something. I'm sure the beta phase will include more gameplay to improve balance.

I learned my lesson awhile back, I forget which game but I lost a good hour of progress for not saving.

They put out new updates Wed and Sun, I think if you don't get them by the time the next one is ready to start rolling out they force you to update. Providing feedback will push you up the list to get access earlier and hence be able to download in the background (assuming it's enabled). That's helped me some, but I also got in the habit of checking Settings > System Settings > Console info & updates. That will show if you have an update available and you can check when your last update was. I've caught it a few times and been able to manually start the update while I go stare at a wall or whatever people do when they can't game, watch people game, or talk about gaming...

First YouTube, and now Twitch won't work. You are lousy at the social side of gaming, Microsoft.

I've been having that issue since the Conker stuff was free that one weekend and couldn't get it.

Do you have NXOE? I can try it out tonight. Didn't have problems earlier in the week though.

Picked up Slender and planned to stream half tonight and half tomorrow night. Ended up accidentally getting to the last level tonight. Way shorter than I was expecting, but also way scarier. Play with brightness settings at least 1 higher than recommended. Took me an hour to beat the 2nd level on recommended. Rest of the levels were fine at the recommended setting.

Edit: Project Spark works fine for me. I have NXOE.

Forgot to mention that the new Minecraft Halloween map is fantastic. There is way more detail than any of the other pre-made maps I've played. Dracula's castle alone feels never ending. Plus there are a bunch of puzzles to solve throughout the map.

I want to support rally games releasing here, but it really screams budget title (like $40 MSRP) and the glitches are bad from what I've seen in reviews.

If you are speaking PS3/X360 gen, then yeah it's been a real drought in the US. And really elsewhere as well as the WRC games (sometimes only released in Europe/Australia) have been just ok. WRC 3 & 4 made it to the US eventually on the PS3. I think that's it. No other rally games were released on consoles in that generation. Hopefully, that changes with this generation. DiRT Rally REALLY needs to hit consoles and hopefully Seb Loeb's rally game releases in the US (and hopefully the WRC engine is improved).

Go back to PS2/Xbox and you've got a lot more options. Rallisport Challenge 1 and 2 were great, the Colin McRae series was awesome (even though DiRT 1 was called Colin McRae's DiRT, I really consider DiRT an offshoot from CMR), V-Rally 3 was great, Richard Burns Rally was a punishing sim but really good if you could handle the difficulty and the WRC series on PS2 was really good. Dedicated rally fans modded their PS2s to play imports and imported those games. Too bad Xpand Rally never made it to consoles. There were still a bunch of other rally games that were flawed but fun like the Dakar Rally game. I know it's not the most popular motor sport, but the dearth of rally games last gen really sucked.

OK in the last 10 years the only decent rally game I'm aware of has been the Dirt series of games. Better?

 
I know it's a technical test and a beta, but Battleborn just won't work. At all. And my friends can't play it either. I've recently played a closed alpha of another game and, aside from a few crashes, it was very stable, fast and reliable matchmaking all around. Battleborn, on the other hand, is unable to work in the beta phase. Sounds promising for the launch which isn't that far off.

After a couple of days my gripes:

No Map Voting....pure regression in terms of halo matchmaking.

Thumbstick Acceleration/DeadZones!!!!!!! - Why change the aiming mechanism that all halo's had the same now?...(a 343i employee pretty much said TOO BAD when people asked if were fixing it)

No GameMode with BR Start...overall a lack of game modes and "options" for the gamer.

Warzone....biggest cluster fuck I have ever seen.  Good for warmup or suuuuuuper laid back gameplay.

Radar is Bjorked...herp derp noone shows up until they are right next to me.

I will keep playing just because it's Halo..and I can honestly live with all the issues EXCEPT the thumbstick acceleration.  People say "get used to it" or "learn to have skill".  That's not the case really.  It's like playing CSGO with mouse acceleration...disgusting and is 10x harder to play.

Overall...I say 7/10 in terms of Halo.  H4 was better IMHO

On a side note: NXOE or w/e got updated last night.  Kinda like the new look but will take a while to get used to.. Spent about 5 minutes trying to figure out how to get to my inserted disc lolol.  Finally gave up and just ejected and reinserted -.-

If you have an :xb1:, I would wait. Cheap codes (from the TR console bundle) will undoubtedly pop up for this game across various websites (BoxedDeal or GameDealDaily, for example.) Price will be close to what the :360: version costs.

No content differences as far as I know. They both look good, but obviously :xb1: looks better. Just look at those particles. Look at them.

I REALLY want TR more than FO4 because the first one was amazing...but I just cant do it. Too many good games around the same time....WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

 
I would wait just because these last gen versions have been a real crap shoot and you don't know what you'll be getting with them until they actually come out.  Some of those have been not so hot.

I had the confusing screen pop up for all game modes for about 10-15 minutes, then after that I was able to play to my heart's content. My gripe is that I had no idea what some of the abilities were doing, even after playing with them for a little while. The game seems like it could (and should) be flashier, like it's sitting in class waiting for the bell to ring.

And remember, this isn't a Beta, this is pre-Beta. :) And they have a little over 3 months to perfect it.

Yup. Just breakin down other options if you still had a ps3/import 360/ps2/xbox/pc, but yeah it's pretty much been the DiRT series...

Yay! No NXOE update yet! I live to fight another day.

 
Yeah, I just couldn't see any of those holding up particularly well with how much racing games have progressed from the PS2 gen. It's a shame we haven't gotten a proper Dirt game since 3 though, maybe the new one will be more of a return to form.

 
im certainly interested in WRC. But by the time it comes out, I will be able to play dirt 3 through BC on the xbox one. WRC would have to be significantly better than dirt 3 for me to buy it.

 
Try playing Assassin's Creed Unity on the NXOE setup with the new controller update. Yeah, it's the hardest thing I've ever tried to do. Game crashes every 30 minutes, controller disconnects and then reconnects every 10 minutes and the console has literally reset itself 3 times.
