Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.

Thinking about picking up either Dues X or Just Cause 3. Any openions on these two?
Deus ex or..........

Deus Ex is half a game that isn't being finished. It's pretty good, but that's a bummer.

Just Cause 3 still runs like shit.

FWIW I beat DE and didn't think it felt like half a game at all. Mankind Divided wasn't anything crazy different than Human Revolution, so of you liked that you'll likely enjoy MD

Trying to decide between the Bioshock Collection and the Borderlands THC. I've beaten Bioshock on 360 years ago, never played 2, and maybe put a few hours into Infinite before stopping for no real reason. I have Infinite via 360 GWG, so I didn't know if it was worth the difference plus the fact that 2 is the only one I have zero playtime with.

I got Borderlands 2 day one on 360 because I adored the first one even though I only play solo. I ran into a glitch several hours in that just killed my momentum while I waited for them to patch it and never went back to it. I've never played the pre-sequel, so sorta the same situation as with Bioshock in that I have B2 via 360 GWG. So is it worth the upgrade plus the fact I've never played the pre-sequel?

I technically have enough in credit ($50) to get both but I think I want the Necromancer DLC more than both of those since these collections seem to go on sale frequently.

I really need to motivate myself to try Mankind Divided. Picked it up a while ago but haven't tried it. Not sure it is my type of game but the reviews looked interesting to me.

I enjoy the Deus Ex games a lot. There's a fair amount of variety as to how you can play and approach things, whether it be through stealth or force and which paths you take. I did feel like the shooting was improved over Human Revolution as well so that helped for going guns blazing.

One crappy thing is they have microtransactions to be able to buy extra skill points, which feels kinda grimy, but to their credit I never felt like they were creating a shortage of them in game to try and sell me them.

I suck at stealth. So I would want to play force/all guns blazing. I am almost done chasing down the few last achievements in FH2 I am going to bother with for now. Also almost done with Ghost Recon Wildlands Fallen Ghosts (on PS4). Maybe try to check it out next.

Well now I'm not very hyped for either, if I want to play half a game I'll get mass effect for $20 at Gs. I'll have to look at those links though.

Probably a stupid question since the game isn't very old, but how does Far Cry 3 hold up graphics wise in BC and is the story/gameplay pretty similar to FC4?
I'd say 4 is almost a re-skin of 3. 1000 gamer scored both games and I didn't hate 3's protagonist as much as others and I liked the "bad guys" more in the 3. Vaas is great.

Yo dudes prolly old news, but I just saw Syberia 3 is on the DWG for $35, but my local target had it in the clearance, can't remember exact price but it was less than $20

Edit :
I believe it was $16.38 or one of those weird ass target prices

Damn it feels good to be back home. I got lured into the bad side of town (the GS thread) with their pipe dreams of liquor and hookers
I'm about 800 posts behind and I'm going to read every damn one of them before the thread go boom.

Off the thread question ....if I trade in my console, does the next owner get to play all the games I downloaded?
If you plan to get a new console, the first thing you should do is set it as your home console.

I have the CE of the game and that cool ass triangle box means I probably won't ever open it and I'm OK with that.

Well I just want to say I picked up Andromeda at GS this week and that game is pretty fun!! Really hate you are limited to 3 mappable powers, but that's my biggest gripe so far. Glad I took the plunge on this one.

And as I've mentioned I also got the witness, so I'm having a blast with both games. Good times.

Has anyone who bought an e-book in the new Books store for Windows 10 get their free $5 yet? I think it was supposed to be delivered via email but I haven't seen anything so far.

FYI there are profile and favorites in this one so yeah you use three mapped skills but you can load up new ones in a different fav, on the fly.

Well shit, they're so many people in our little town today that my internet has been shit. Phone says 4G LTE but it's more like half 3G. slow as balls! Wanted to play a few matches of Rocket League today. Their update goes live tomorrow (5th)?

Did what, exactly? I'm ~10 hours in and really enjoying it. Andromeda isn't ME2 but we shouldn't expect it to be.

Mostly, Andromeda feels like DS9, and the biggest complaint people have is that it isn't TNG.

I haven't gotten anything yet, hoping to use it for the necromancer DLC

Anyone have the season pass for Halo Wars 2 for $10+tax? I was gonna buy the Deluxe edition digitally for $40. But I'd rather give the extra $10 to someone from CAG than Microsoft.

I think it said up to 10 days, which we aren't at yet. Maybe the holiday slowed it down too.

I sold 2 of them for $10 a few weeks ago but don't have any more. Sorry bud.

I feel like "Anime Month" is every three months, but they've got free stuff again.

First season of DBZ, I think it's free, I already own it from before.

I think this is a first, Yu Yu Hakusho. Looks like it goes until the Dark Tournment stuff starts. Pretty good oldie if you've never seen it.

Fairy Tale. I've never watched this.

Looks like Bioware announced another MP addition for Andromeda yesterday. They're adding the Platinum difficulty back from ME3. The seemingly bigger news is the character they're adding is Batarian.

Minor non-plot important spoilers here, Batarians are not in Andromeda at all,
they are on the Quarian Ark that never shows up in game but is teased at the end
, it's what a lot of people are assuming a single player DLC would be. I wouldn't think much of them adding legacy species to multiplayer, ME3 definitely had some non-canon characters added later on, but the game emphasizes that the Apex strike teams are directly connected and canon to the base game. It makes no sense for a Batarian to be there, even if they they are in the galaxy already, they haven't joined up with the Andromeda Initiative yet. Plus, this means they had to build a Batarian model for the new engine and generation of consoles.

So, this makes me think either
A. They are working on said
Quarian Ark
single-player DLC and this is a tease or hint that it's coming.

or

B. They were working on it, it's been scrapped, but they're salvaging what assets they can for the one portion of game still getting support.

or

C. They decided from the start to do non-canon characters even though they imply multiplayer is canon to try to draw in the single-player crowd. If this was the case, I just think they would have done a more popular species first, like Quarians.

I think it's unlikely they just modeled this species ONLY for multiplayer. They added a lot of weirdos to ME3 (Collector's, Volus), but they could easily use previously made models or at worst import them from the previous games since it was the same engine.

Thanks for the links. I love how they can open right into the Store app for Windows 10, because I was trying to use the browser last night to get these and it wasn't working at all.

I have yet to play the game, but I have read plenty of reviews to understand that they released an incomplete game and do not intend on truely finishing it. They had 5 years to give the fans of ME a respectible game not just a space game with the mass effect brand attached to it. With this said I will play the game eventually but as for now I'm enjoying the Witcher 3.

I haven't read any reviews that said it was "an incomplete game". I played through the game and all the side quests and spent about 60 or so hours on it. It had some issues but being "incomplete" is not one of them.

If you haven't even played the game, you really shouldn't be crapping on it. Most people here seem to be enjoying it.

It's not unfinished. It's just as clunky and buggy as the original three games, which only now is an issue.

Having finished it, I wouldn't go as far as saying it was incomplete, just very unpolished at launch. It was still pretty unpolished by the time I was done with it, meaning I haven't played with the latest patch, but I think it's to the point where it's passable at least now. I think it's worth checking out at the $20 price it has this week, but its not to the quality of past ME games.

Not that Bioware has a flawless track record, I still think Dragon Age 2 was a worse overall game.

In terms of a complete game I meant one that doesn't have broken animations, lives up to the standard set in the previews incarnations of the game with memorable side characters and quests. I'm not saying it's complete garbage. So yes it has a begining and and end that take several hours to complete, but aside from the combat how memorable of a gaming experience is this for you?

I'm all for enjoying a poorly reviewed game, I plan on giving it a go. Just a disappointed fan of the original I guess.

I played the EA access trial of ME:A and really didnt like it, the shooting seemed rather bland and repetitive and picking up items for crafting was just tedious

ME: A is just broken. The worlds are fleshed out and the combat is great. It just doesn't have as great of a story compared to the original trilogy. Also those faces still creep me out from time to time. You gotta remember though. This game had a $40 million dollar budget over 5 years. This includes development and marketing. In comparison Destiny's budget was $500 million. Also you gotta consider the fact that the majority of the game was created in the last 18 months of development after the leader of the project left it. The game was originally supposed to be a no man's sky world creation type game. Think of how much time and money was wasted on things that wouldn't make it into the game. If they had stuck with their guns in the beginning it probably would've been a better game.

The patch history alone certainly suggests the game needed some updates and was perhaps a tad unpolished. I have no basis for comparison having just started it post-1.08, but a game needing some tweaks and a game being incomplete are two different things.

I loved FFXV, for example, but that game felt incomplete. The first huge city you go to, it's clear they envisioned it to be a much larger space to explore, and the 2nd half of the game is extremely linear. They literally patched in cutscenes to the beginning of the game AND to a later portion (Chapter 13) to better explain some plot details. That is a game that shipped incomplete, but I still spent 60 hours on it, and look forward to a replay if a GOTY edition comes out w/ all the story DLC.

As someone else pointed out, the original ME games had plenty of bugs, too. I agree the post-launch update culture leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but the game was never incomplete.

I'll give it a shot, at $20 I'm sure I'll get enough enjoyment to not feel like I wasted money on it. Now had I payed $60 for it at launch like I intended to do I would have been very disappointed I'm sure.

To clarify, the $500M number is what Activision initially said it was investing in the Destiny franchise over the course of 10 years. The first game itself did not cost that much. According to Wikipedia, total cost for Destiny was ~$140M. Still more than ME:A so your point is still valid, but there is no way the beta first Destiny game we got cost $500M.

I played ME:A prior to any patches and aside from the animation issues, it was totally fine and was technically flawless. It was not as epic as the ME trilogy, story telling could've been better, alien designs could've been more original -- but the initial criticism was way overblown and unfortunately derailed the franchise.

Maybe I'll be done with Naruto and Shippuden by the time it comes out. 374 episodes into the 700+ episodes.

I don't know. It did have fairly memorable bits but it has the same issue Inquisition had. The older Bioware games we mostly killer, light on filler because they were usually 25-40 hours. Inquisiton and Andromeda have so much exploring and combat to fill their 80-100 hour play times that everything is spread thin. I think most of the loyalty mission and crew members were good enough aside from Liam, some of the main planet quests are good, and the opening and ending sequences are pretty strong. The Kett were pretty weak overall, clearly trying to give the same vibe as Saren in ME1, but without the charisma or quite the same hooks as the Reapers had in 1.

I think you just got lucky or weren't observant enough. Even a couple patches in there were still falling-through-map glitches, Frostbite clearly doesn't handle the strain of a fast moving vehicle in such big maps well, enemies getting stuck in walls, squad AI often being garbage, and there were all kinds of issues aside from animation in cutscenes and dialogue if they weren't part of the core quests.

I do agree with these points, despite my limited time with the game. Sometimes less-is-more, and the enormous landscapes feel both epic and unnecessary. The original ME had a great balance between exploration which was often optional in its excess and very linear story missions. The opening level on Habitat 7 took me 3-4 hours because I wanted to explore everything, and it was a tad overwhelming.

And, yes, when I first encountered the Kett, I was pretty underwhelmed. They look even more generic than random aliens on Star Trek, but I've only scraped the surface of the plot so we'll see if the story makes them less boring.

Guess it's my turn to go unload a few titles to GameStop, including Alan Wake for more than I paid for it 6 years ago (still had the receipt tucked in the case).

On the plus side, I had totally forgotten that I had Marvel vs Capcom for the Dreamcast. Anyone know a good place to score other Dreamcast games (other than Gamestop/eBay)? Really want to add a few titles but some of them are way overpriced at those sites.
