Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.

Well those are two of the system's best games.

Even so you've heard it from everybody, even if you're not into racing games, Forza Horizon 3 is a lot of fun and a great game.

Well those are two of the system's best games.
...

IF you like racing games.

I traded for a code for FM5 long ago and I enjoyed the car customization FAR greater than the actual racing.

I gave FH2 a chance because people say they are more accessible than the Motorsport series, and I didn't even last long enough in the game to start the first series of races.

My final haul:

Destiny 2
Mortal Kombat X
Bioshock The Collection
NBA Live 18

Enslaved
Deus Ex Missing Link
Prey
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified
Tomb Raider Anniversary
Tomb Raider Underworld
Tomb Raider Legend

Went digital on the XBO games at a slight profit trading the discs into GS with the 50% bonus last week.

Three things:

1. Finally got Myrrah in Gears 4.

2. Completed Modern Warfare Remastered. Didn't remember much of it as I only played the original once in 2008.

3. Still not sure if I really want to pull the trigger on the Bioshock Collection. Not being able to capture screenshots or video is a bit of a deal breaker for me.

You can't capture screenshots? Is that game issue across all platforms?

Is not an "issue". 2K implemented the restriction so the games wouldn't be spoiled to those that have never played a Bioshock game.
Would be nice if they restricted it to certain chapters / levels, or certain sequences. It's 10 years old, but I'd still hate to spoil any of the major twists for someone who never got around to playing the first game. The setting of traps and Big Daddy takedowns, especially with the revive chambers disabled, are the kind of thing gaming captures exist for.

Not having played any of the games for any significant amount of time, I have no idea what you just said but I agree with it. I'm surprised there hasn't been a loud enough rabble on the internet to have 2K change their minds on this.

I used bing rewards points I saved up ($15) and picked up two games, Tokyo 42 and Armikorg.

Lots of great things to choose from but decided these two games and no out of pocket money was my best bet.

Does it block capture cards too? Or just the built-in xbox screen capture / dvr?

B- nice that game remastered is a thing of beauty especially Price' stache. So did you 1000gs it?

Been dragging my heels on buying the Blood & Wine DLC for Witcher (I own the base game and Hearts of Stone digitally so I'm not interested in the complete edition). I assume it will be $10 again come Christmas XBL sales, but I should probably just get it now. Looking forward to the One X patch.

Not yet. I got 460/1000. I'm only missing the ones for beating certain missions on veteran. Though I can't imagine how much of a pain in the ass it would be the bit in the abandoned fair with McMillan :bomb:

I doubt they went to those lengths. They just don't want people posting videos of huge plot points on their XBL feed on the dash.
I'm surprised they didn't do the same with The Handsome Collection, as the timing of that remaster release being much closer to the release of the original versions would make this argument more relevant. Or did they?

Don't think it was mentioned but Dolby Atmos for Headphones has been on sale this week too, $12 instead of $15.

if you haven't tried it you should probably download the app and start the trial, they have a few example videos to test it out. Works with any headphones.

Is it good? I have the TBs with simu-surround, would this make it better?

Not yet. I got 460/1000. I'm only missing the ones for beating certain missions on veteran. Though I can't imagine how much of a pain in the ass it would be the bit in the abandoned fair with McMillan :bomb:
that was the hardest section of the game to me on Veteran. Took me about 30 minutes to devise a strategy to get past it.The rest of the game is pretty much a cakewalk though.

Interesting. I’m curious how well this works. Not sure I see how it would benefit headphones with two speakers. Might have to check it out when I get home.

I was impressed enough with the Atmos demo to get the app. But then I immediately went out and bought a crazy Atmos soundbar so I haven’t used the headphones enough to really speak to the quality. I can say that games and movies sound great on the soundbar, though.

I liked what I heard of Atmos through my nice Sennheiser headphones, but they aren't designed for Xbox One and adjusting the volume by going into settings every time is a hassle. Unless I'm missing a much easier way?

If you have the Stereo Headset Adapter or the official Chatpad, you can control game and chat volumes with those.

Is not an "issue". 2K implemented the restriction so the games wouldn't be spoiled to those that have never played a Bioshock game.
It was clearly done for that reason, but I still think it's unwarranted. Those who want to avoid spoilers can simply not watch the clips. It makes 2K seem a bit out of touch considering how huge streaming, sharing, etc. is today.

That mission is the one that made me say fuck it way back when. I think I'd rather deal with the mind-numbing repetition of getting Mile High Club than see that mission to completion.

You can't capture screenshots? Is that game issue across all platforms?

Would be nice if they restricted it to certain chapters / levels, or certain sequences. It's 10 years old, but I'd still hate to spoil any of the major twists for someone who never got around to playing the first game. The setting of traps and Big Daddy takedowns, especially with the revive chambers disabled, are the kind of thing gaming captures exist for.
There were some pretty dramatic combat fights in Bioshock, totally damming not to document them over the years lol. There were some pretty cool moments "running and gunning" with the rails system in Infinite as well.

See, Nintendo has a Spoiler tag, you can implement into any upload, therefore if Bioshock/Microsoft implemented this it'd still give people the freedom of showing off their heroic feats. Nintendo was lagging behind in many areas but this one they've been in-front-of-the-line with, so to speak.

If someone is a "car guy", would that like the Forza Motorsport or Horizon games more? I was hoping to get a couple copies of Horizon 3 from Expertzone so we can play together but I guess they had a limit of 1. So I was looking at either H3 or Forza 6, 7 is out of my budget.

I am pretty sure there is a demo for both FH3 and FM6.  download them both and see what you think?

Expertzone had an update? The site is barely loading for me, but anything else of note in their update in terms of crap to buy?

EDIT: Ah, nevermind misread you. Carry on.

Horizon is far more arcadey than Motorsport. I enjoy the FH games more for that very reason. But I do occasionally like a bit more sim from time to time.

FM is definitely better for hardcore car enthusiasts. No Hot Wheels in there!

I've played Horizon 3, I'm just not sure if the main series would offer more tweaking or hardcore car guy stuff that my cousin would like since he's really into cars.

It used to be gearheads would enjoy the Forza Motorsport series as it was track and car customization/design/upgrade focused. Of course you'll have more of a simulation for Motorsport but you may have assists on depending on your racing preference. I found GRiD to be a good balance of physics/arcade racing but Forza pretty much starts with the simulation base and then adds on assists afterwards.

Yeah, I think they've come a long way with the Horizon titles now so you could say the developers have also targeted gearheads for FH3 as well. Feel like while Forza Motorsport titles are the pinnacle of racing titles, Forza Horizon 3 has so much to offer - more bang for your buck so to speak - that's your best bet atm. There's circuit racing, open world collectibles/discovery and point to point races which unlike the previous titles in the series allow you to go off road as well as zoom down the paved highway. Online is a good time getting together with friends and strangers alike too. If you're looking forward to shaving off a few seconds each lap, tuning your vehicle to be in the best performance index or spending several hours working on a livery for your car than you might want a Forza Motorsport title. If you want to race around, smash through things, go fast and work on your Scandinavian Flick while also discovering a new open racing world than I'd say go with a Forza Horizon title.

Not sure. I all but ignore that in FH3. There I just download specific tunes as needed mostly for Forzathons.

I would assume you could see that in the demo for FM6 but I never even looked at that aspect of it.

Seems similar to FH3 but might have a few more options. I think a car nut might like FM better.

Check out this video at 9 mins or so he goes through the options.

i am kinda new to xbox and absolutely loved fh2+3. but i havent touched them since forza7. the haters are idiots. its the best racing game of all time, and since they launched the auction house credits, grinding, loot, rare cars is not an issue at all made over 200mil.

just wish i had bought forza 2 fast n furious at $2.--

for fh3 i suggest cdkeys it includes hot wheels

anyway i got nfs payback trial from ea access, didnt like it that much but now its offering me a deluxe edition upgrade for 18€.......this prolly wont unlock the full game tho?!

Nothing appears to be counting down for tonight.  For the last minute folks (myself included), the Black Friday deals appear to be counting down to 5am Eastern.

Motorsport is like Grand Turismo, Horizon is more like Burnout Paradise. I always hated sims like GT, but always had fun with Burnout games. The Horizon series is more grounded in realism than Burnout, but it's definitely arcade style racing.
