Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Well, this thing took a turn. It does have Sanwa parts (GOOD) and wi-fi for it's own leaderboard system, but the body looks like a joke. Yes, it looks nice but I would not want that awkward shape. It looks like a display piece more than anything else. Out October 25th from Koch Media (Weird, bad?). 16 mostly good games.

So looking at a bare minimum $250 price tag it seems. Oof. If it was something like 40 games or more I'd consider it, but all that for 16 games makes it a super tough sell.

BC for PS4 games is great to hear, but there's still no good reason for PS1 and PS2 games not to work off of PSN. I don't care if they have to be bought digitally vs working with the disc, I have tons of old games I could play on my PS3 that don't work on a significantly more powerful system. Glad to know the cheap PS4 digital games I have will not be trapped on a single gen.

But, MS seems well poised for any software that runs on X1 (360, OG) to work on next gen, in which case they will continue to get my money.
I'll buy both after two or three years when either kinks work out/good bundle deals by Black Friday. Hell, I still plan on getting a One X when that goes hella cheap too. I'm awful with money!

I guarantee hackers will allow for more games on there. Only problem is how much space the thing will come with, but as in the case of the PS Classic, there'll probably be external storage support of some sort.

Edit: Actually, gonna scale back that prediction. The microusb port is the only real entry point and that's for power. Are they really planning on not allowing this stick to be used for other games?
WiFi support might be a weak spot too but we'll see.

Wow that is terrible looking. Not sure why they went the logo route instead of something that looks more like the control portion of an arcade cabinet. The game list is lacking in Street Fighter 3 and any version of Alpha. Who is this thing for?

The microusb port is how you get into the nes and snes classics.

For metroidvania fans, that Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human is pretty cool but also very hardcore, Dark Souls (or harder) difficulty. Nice retro 8-bit style graphics.

I was interested and watched a review where the guy said it took him over an hour to complete one boss encounter (without repeated deaths). Looks fun, but demanding.

Skimming that PS5 article I don’t see any mention of a 4K Blu-ray player. That’s crazy if they still don’t have one in it. Maybe it’ll be there and it just wasn’t mentioned.

On another PS note, they dropped Dreams Early Access today. Might be the reason I finally dust off the PS4 for a bit.
I barely uses the 4K drive on my XBox One X. Not sure this is really a big selling point anymore. More and more people rather just stream.

What is crazy to me is the XBox S without a drive at all for like $40 less then one with. At least that seems to be the rumors. They didn't even make the console smaller. Just covered up where the drive used to be. For $199.99 I could see picking one up for a second console in another room. For $250-$260 why bother? Just get a full S for $299 (before any sales/deals).

Guess my point is it’s nice to have the option and 4K disc players aren’t expensive now so shouldn’t cost much to add. With other devices HDMI ports are at a premium so it’s always nice to have a device perform both functions.

Streaming is great but it will never match physical media.

Surprised ACG said WWZ was a buy. It looks like a boring zombie defense game with nothing really to it. No bosses, no infected play.

I feel like if someone wanted to play a zombie defense game they'd pick up Killing Floor 2 instead (which is very good). $24 cheaper, and actually at least has bosses.

Really sucks that an official release for some of these games is being locked behind an expensive and tacky piece of hardware.

We said the same thing about HDMI and Bluray drives, which the original PS3 shipped with, and the 360 didn't. Heck, XBL and PSN weren't built with full game downloads in mind, and PS3 shipped with a max 60GB storage option. Funny how things changed even over the course of last gen.

Obviously 4k media isn't the same as HDMI in terms of standards, but I think future-proofing is a big deal since we don't know how tech will change.

Watch dogs 2, Ryse Legendary edition, Dmc devil may cry or Dmc4se
All at the same price of 9$ And ryse at 7$. Only have enough to pick one. Need a bit help kindly.

Well Ryse has been free in the past, and can be found on ebay for like 5 bucks (if you dont mind physical), I wouldn't recommend it for $7, for free its decent, maybe $5, the game is good but I think I beat it in a day and no real reason to replay. Can't comment on WD2 or DMC but I'd say WD2 is the best deal there, and I enjoyed the first one.

Don't forget that there was a year of time between the releases of :360: and :ps3:, and in that time standard and accepted technology can change so much (hence why the :360:'s HD-DVD drive was released about the same time as the :ps3:.

Don't forget that the version of Ryse that was offered free with GwG was the vanilla version and the version of Ryse that is on sale right now is the Legendary Edition with all the DLC.

So GameStop is launching a new program where you are “guaranteed to love it” for certain games. First game is Days Gone. If you don’t like the game, return it in 48 hours and get the cost of the game back in credit. Not a bad promo.

Know there are those of you lucky enough to have the MS auto return thing where you can return a game if you haven’t played more than 2 hours (?) within two weeks. But a lot of people don’t so this is an option I guess.

Through I don’t buy many games at full price.

Wonder how abused this will be for “renting” a game.

Its only good for gamestop, and no one else. It'll be forgotten by 99% of gamestop customers within the first week.

These are the topics for today's Inside Xbox:

So wait until after this stream to make any such call.
Those logos make me think we're only getting 360 BC today, no OG. It's been about a year now.

It is an interesting strategy. I check around the other used stores and it's surprising how fast you see just about any game get traded in, at least 1 or 2 copies minimum. It may seem dumb but if enough people take advantage of this, Gamestop could have a lot more used copies available earlier to sell for much higher profit than normal copies. It's a risky strategy if applied to all games though. If you get a trash fire like Anthem or Fallout 76 you're almost certainly losing money with this policy. Even good but short games could fall prey to this, or stuff that many people paly casually for a short time. Upcoming stuff coming to mind is Mortal Kombat 11 and probably Jedi Fallen Order.

For now the wording on that file sound like it's being tested with Days Gone specifically, which I get the impression is a longer game.

I think they are desperate at this point to do anything to bring more people into the store. If this leads at least some modest increase in people buying from them, that’s more foot traffic to try to sell other things. And most people probably won’t end up returning.

They’re lucky to even still have their doors open at this point.

Lol Forza Horizon 3 as a pack in. Also gamestop wasn't mentioned as a retailer. Wonder if they will even stock a system like this.

Why pay $250 when you can get a 4K BR drive for $50 more with the regular S model?  This is completely idiotic at that price.  Also weird that they are including FH3 instead of 4, since that game will probably be taken offline in the next year or two(if previous games are any indication).

Like I said in Mixer chat, I think it is $250 to get those initial buy dollars (Remember: graduation is next month and people might buy for presents) and then we will see an all-around price drop around E3, bringing it to that $199 sweet spot.

Yeah, way too expensive.
The problem is that the S is overpriced at $300 to begin with (probably sold at the price since the Switch and base PS4 cost that much), but that price was "justified" by the UHD disc reader.
So taking that out just makes it look like absolute shit in comparison to the base PS4 (which is a far stronger system).
And no, 3 games (2 of which are on Game Pass) doesn't make up for it.

It wasn't a bad idea though, given how popular digital has gotten and how UHD discs aren't exactly flying off the shelves yet.

It's not so much that you can pay $50 more for the one with the blu-ray drive, it's the fact that you can still find stuff like the One S/Minecraft sub $200 regularly. I guess they'll be removing all the cheaper Sku's for the Xbox One S going forward to inflate it.

Yeah, they have to know that the S and the X are due for price drops soon with new hardware on the horizon.

The games get delisted from the store but the servers are still online.

Did they get rid of the “of War” part from Gears?
Everyone I've played with for a pretty much ever always just calls it "Gears". I guess it makes sense. I assume it's probably a branding thing to make spin-offs easier to name or something. Kind of a different take on why Halo is dropping numbers with Infinite.

Edit: Whoop, I thought you said "why did they?". But yeah, they did. It was confirmed during E3 a bit after it was announced but they didn't really make a big deal about of it.
