  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I Really wish Microsoft Rewards would give you like 200 Reward Points or whatever for rare cheez mints. Mostly because I want to justify my OCD of playing games with the "collect all *blank*" or "Fully level up *blank*" cheez mints that isn't just a different sound or a diamond next to it just to tell me it's rare and normal people don't play games like this.

I saw Alita tonight, and I am kind of surprised that everyone here that mentioned seeing it liked it and thought it was good (at least as far as I saw). I don't mind if a movie doesn't wrap everything up at the end, but that cliffhanger was unsatisfying in a Halo 2 kind of way. And I also felt like it could have delved a bit more into the lore of the world and its backstory.

Compare it with something like The Matrix, which also doesn't end with the enemy completely defeated. But at least The Matrix was satisfying. When the movie starts you're in the dark as to what's going on, but the movie nearly fully explains what's going on in its world. The only thing that they don't answer (and don't really need to) is who fired first, man or machine. Smith is also built up quite well as an antagonist, so it's great when Neo explodes him into little bits at the end and the other agents hightail it out of there. You don't really need to watch the sequels to enjoy The Matrix.

Alita doesn't really do any of that. You get a tiny fraction of what must be a huge backstory that you will have to see the sequels to understand, and it just kind of fizzles out at the end without a satisfying conclusion. Lots of it was predictable, and I didn't feel like anything in the final battles of the movie was any threat to her. I walked out feeling like I just watched half a movie.

The only positives I have are that the fights looked cool and it had nice visuals. I also didn't completely hate it or anything, so if it ever becomes a fully fleshed out trilogy I could see myself getting back into it to see the full story. But viewing this as a standalone movie, it felt incomplete and just kind of average. Imagine if instead of the way Infinity War ended, they had the credits roll as soon as Thanos showed up on earth, and you saw his journey cut short right before getting the final stone. That's how Alita felt to me. And at least with Infinity War ending with more story to tell, you KNOW another movie will be on its way. I can't see myself ever buying or rewatching Alita if it doesn't perform well enough to merit one or two sequels to finish the story.
I don't know, without the ending as it is, where would be a good stopping point for you? Unless they completely wrote a new ending I don't think there would have been a satisfying place to stop.

Really, I'd say the ending is very much like how Matrix 1 ends since we see Neo with his new abilities and huge threat remaining, the difference being Matrix was an original story so if they didn't make more movies it didn't really matter. Alita is a pretty faithful adaptation of about one third of an established story, if they wanted to remain faithful they had to cut somewhere. Also keep in mind that manga generally isn't designed with stopping points in place since they are traditionally released weekly without taking any time off. The exception there is usually a time skip, but that doesn't always work as a stopping point depending what lead up to it.

I will say Crackdown 3 is a disappointment it's pretty much the same game as the 1st one how you have the same thing 10+ Years but it's included with Game Pass so no real loss

I disagree with this. There are plenty of gems you can have fun with on GamePass, but there is a fair amount of garbage titles that I would not get any enjoyment out of despite the fact they are "free." I feel that your example doesn't work either. I have turned down free tickets to concerts, events, etc. because they are events I would not enjoy, whether I had to pay anything for the tickets or not. There are still better uses for my time.

Had I paid $60 for Crackdown 3, I would probably have wished I had chosen a deeper story-based game, but I would still find a good bit to enjoy in Crackdown 3. I honestly feel that if the game had come out on the PS4, it would got somewhere between 7.5 and 8.5 from most critics.
I disagree, the game would have gotten the same score regardless of platform take the game I just played on PS The Order 1866 It was mediocre and was pretty much a movie, in my opinion Crackdown 3 is just mediocre this does nothing better compared to the original 10+ yrs ago

I've won three rounds of Apex so far. I'm still having fun with it but will probably take a break until the battle pass comes out and how they handle that will probably determine how often I play.

I really wish there was some sort of penalty for people that leave early, besides missing out on xp. I've had multiple people that have been killed and disconnect even though they can be revived no problem. The last round I played someone got downed and disconnected and then my other squad mate disconnected I'm assuming because they didn't want to continue as a two person squad.
I’ve been playing more on PC because I have a small group so it’s easier to get in the top 3 now, but I’m down to team up with some CAGs if you keep getting to many leavers. My only strategy I’ve figured out is I like to stay in the ship til you get pretty far out because it seems like majority jump immediately so I seem to make it to top 10 if I just wait and land in an emptier area, the last game we played 8 ppl were already dead before we jumped to the water treatment plant.

Confirmed: Crackdown 3 is the new Brothers

Also, this past Thursday's Kombat Kast seemed to expel the rumor that The Terminator might possibly be coming to Mortal Kombat 11 via the base roster. Geras(new character) seems to have the pre-release coding(that leaked via the Steam achievement list) on the main fighting screen, which has the TER listing. So most likely TER didn't mean Terminator, it was just the coded version for Geras. There's still hope for Noob, Reptile, Smoke and more fan favs to show up in the final base roster.

... Single player? Does not compute. The conversations, you know they eventually will go somewhere so you feel obligated to do them. I flat out hate some of the NPCs and their voices which makes them more of a chore. But the in the field is fun with it mitigates the shit. But not the load times. I'm considering an SSD just for this.
I guess solo is a better word to use than single player. Is there not a way to play solo a la Destiny?

So you think all the major sites including Easy Allies (formerly GameTrailers, arguably one of the most comprehensive review sites) are just smoking Sony's pipe? That seems to be the defense for any Xbox exclusive like Sunset Overdrive. I don't see that to be the case. Many users here who reported to have enjoyed Crackdown 3 have said it's like a remake of the first game, just with better graphics. If that's the case, then the ratings are accurate because Crackdown wasn't even a great game back in 2007, and it's almost exactly 12 years later!

If you look at other series that remained stagnant like the old-school Tomb Raider games or Dynasty Warriors, the games are rated poorer with each new installment. The games themselves didn't get worse - they usually had new additions or improvements, actually - but the gameplay largely stayed the same with each new installment. I could play Dynasty Warriors and have fun, but I would hesitate to call it a good game. By any metric, it comes up short compared to its peers and a 6 out of 10 would be fair - that's where Crackdown falls. If you already have Game Pass, then it doesn't cost you anything to check out the game. That seems to be the consensus, which isn't flattering praise at all.

I mean you can set your expedition to private and not invite anyone, but I imagine it will be much harder. Default is matchmaking with 1-3 others and I've always been glad to have the other people there if for nothing else than covering the flank.

Crackdown a 6 on the Destructoid scale is accurate. On the traditional mindset of 7 being bad, no, but that model is broken. It's an ok but fun game with an underwhelming and under-delivering multiplayer.

What do people have to pretend about? That's just dumb. Fact is they didn't have to buy it for $60 so your point is invalid.
well people are pretending it's better than God of War, so is it really that hard to pretend it sells for $60 to everybody without game pass, when in fact that is what it sells for?

This is going to sound crazy to someone like you, but a person can, in-fact, prefer one game over another. Who are you to say their opinion is invalid?

i think the point is you can have fun with anything if you go into it with an open mind, when it's free you have nothing to lose other than some time which is often wasted anyways

why would it get a higher rating if it was on PS4? a bad game is a bad game no matter what console it's on and with all the stellar exclusives on PS4 i actually think it would negatively affect the rating even more because the argument would be "why play Crackdown 3 when you can play Spiderman?"

actually my point was called "invalid" but anyways some opinions are more outrageous than others, why is that crazy to someone like you?

if i say i would rather vacation in Iowa instead of Hawaii, you wouldn't question that thinking?

I sure hope you guys are wrong and Crackdown 3 is NOT just a Crackdown remake. Nearly a year ago I got my girlfriend to play the original with me, so she wouldn't go into 3 blind. We go back to it every once in awhile, but we still haven't finished it. The game did not age well for starters. The controls are hot garbage. Can't tell you how many orbs I missed thanks to the controls. The reason we still haven't finished it is because we can't stop dying all the time. Even with multiple health upgrades, I still die in seconds because the enemies just spawn like crazy. And if you die, you have to respawn at a safe house nowhere near where you died. It was terrible. When I saw earlier this month that 3 was not a direct sequel, I rejoiced and told my girlfriend we never have to boot up the original ever again. She was ecstatic.

So as long as everything I hated in the original is changed, I'll like it!

I gave this some thought and I know what would have fixed this movie. Spoilers for the actual ending of Alita ahead:

The ending where she has her amazing battle suit is not tense or exciting. At no point do I fear the big sentry robots will take her out. I'm no longer afraid the big claw throwing guy will be able to harm her. She slices him in half with barely any fuss, and then quite easily kills the other guy who would never have been a match for her even without that suit. That battle would have worked better as an easier opening battle for movie #2. Have her finally dispatch claw guy for good to start the sequel, and then you'll have bigger threats still to come later in the movie.

The movie should have been restructured so the battle with the claw throwing guy that took place underground was the final battle of the movie. That battle was actually tense and exciting since she didn't have her better suit yet. Lengthen that battle a bit (since it will now be the big closing battle of the movie), and keep the way it ended where she gets ripped to shreds and punches into the guy's eye socket. The movie will end with her getting her new body. The ending will be the other characters around the operating table worried about Alita, and the closing shot will be a slow zoom in on her face and suddenly her eye opens. Cliché? Maybe, but it's cliché for a reason. It works, unlike the ending where it time skips and she points her sword toward the flying city.

The entire plotline with her actually playing the ball sport for real should have been saved for a potential sequel. Focus on taking out claw throwing guy as a stepping stone toward taking on the big bad, and then you can leave everything after that to the viewer's imagination. Imagining how she's going to kick butt with her suit is better than watching the movie stumble through a bit more plot that wasn't necessary. That would make it a lot more like The Matrix ending. Imagine if instead of seeing him with his full powers and flying off at the end to continue the fight in our imaginations, we got to watch a couple more dumb lame battles where Neo easily kicks the shit out of some standard agents before the credits rolled. Oh, and then Trinity dies at the end. That's basically what Alita did.

Also, have her actually adopt the dog earlier in the movie when she first sees it (rather than have it show up randomly at the end) so its death has more impact. If you're gonna kill a dog at the end, you might as well do it right. (Oh, and don't have her paint under her eyes with dog blood, WTF, movie?) And sprinkle in a few more tidbits of backstory so I feel like I know a bit more about this universe. A hint as to why the war started and what the big bad's motivations were would have been nice. All these changes would have resulted in a more well rounded movie that could function decently as a stand alone if there's never any sequels.

If anyone from Hollywood is reading this, please feel free to contact me so I can tidy up your crappy scripts.

I think the point is what is “outrageous” to you is a legitimate opinion. Just because you don’t believe it doesn’t make it any less of a valid point of view.

What is that so hard to understand?!?

I was thinking the same thing, total cliffhanger, has to be a number 2 and yes I will go see it.

Hate to break away from the CD3, opinion, poop talk(even though it isn't deal related): New character will be revealed in Mortal Kombat 11 February 28th. And also, during the Brazilian stream recently, a brand new male fighter will be amongst the base roster. Don't know if they'll reveal him the 28th, but yeah. Trying to break up the Brothers *cough cough* talk as of late. Mr Clutch, save us and give a great prediction for tomorrow's deals!!!

Might not be for you then. Unlike God of War 4 this one is basically the same type of game good, bad, and ugly as Crackdown 1 and not a total re-imagining of the franchise that looks and plays completely differently than it's predecessors ;)

Am I suggesting that review sites are "on the take" or trying to gain Sony's favor by inflating review scores? No. However, I do believe that many game review sites are guilty of pandering. They know most of their base is made up of fanboys. These fanboys want to feel good about their purchases and want to feel like they aren't missing out by not having the "other guy's" system. Because of this, reviewers inflate the scores of the dominant system's titles while docking the lesser competitor just a hair. This keeps their core audience coming back, leaving comments, and giving them ad views. From early on, it was clear that the PS4 was going to dominate this cycle due to Microsoft's woeful launch. Thusly, I honestly believe that if Crackdown 3 had been a PS4 title, it would have garnered in the 7.5-8.5 range. It would have been hailed as a "throwback to a the PS3/Xbox 360 era" and touted for its addictive collecting and gunplay, but it would have been docked for its thin story and it would be noted how many titles on the PS4 had much more impressive narratives.

Granted, this is somewhat conspiracy theorist. Yet, at the end of the day, these sites want to make money and they will use every trick to drive traffic.

i think the point is you can have fun with anything if you go into it with an open mind, when it's free you have nothing to lose other than some time which is often wasted anyways

As I said above, Spiderman would be mentioned for sure, but a 7.5-8.5 isn't out of the question. No one in their right mind thought Crackdown was going to be a 9+ game no matter where it was released. But a lower end "good" rating would have been more likely for the reasons I stated.

Maybe I'm the strange one, but I go into everything I do with an open mind. I don't care if I'm paying nothing or if I'm paying hundreds of dollars. I give everything the same fair chance no matter what I paid. A good example of this is Assassin's Creed Unity. I had taken a break from gaming before it was released so I didn't get around to it until you could get a digital code for the title for under $2. I enjoyed the game thoroughly (I'm crazy about the Assassin's Creed series, but that was a given), but even after all the patches and improvements, I still felt like it was the lesser of all the mainline entries in the series. I didn't lift it above other titles because I bought it at a very steep discount. Crackdown 3 was the same. Had I paid $60 for it, I would be slightly disappointed but I think I would still have fun with it and say it was a solid 7 or 7.5 (on a personal scale).

Lastly, I don't think anyone is claiming that Crackdown 3 is a better title than God of War. However, I do believe it is possible to have more fun with CD3 than GOW. To use an analogy I used before, it is like watching movies. Sometimes you don't want to watch a deep movie that is going to make you think about your place in the world or something of the sort. Instead, you want to watch something like Armageddon. Sure, the movie is ludicrous and cheesy. However, it is fun to watch Bruce Willis lead a team of oil drillers onto an asteroid while people throw out one liners. It is good, mindless fun. Almost no one is going to suggest it is better than a cinematic masterpiece, but it can be more enjoyable at a given moment.

I say give it a chance then. I have all the same complaints about the original after revisiting it recently, and the controls in CD3 are very responsive. It’s also better balanced in terms of difficulty.

Ok so I promised I would fire up the Narotu Ninja 4 since I bought the whole bundle pack.

So this game basically reminds me of Dynasty Warriors type control schemes with anime craziness cranked up to 1000. They have normal fighting where you're striking and dodging attacks but also during over the top cinematic attacks they ask you to press buttons at certain times to keep you engaged. There wasn't even a basic tutorial to go over the controls which are actually more complex than Dynasty Warriors I compared it to.

I also liked that if you die in battle that it will allow you to resume the fight with full health while the enemy you are battling keeps whatever their health bar was when you died.

Those are my initial impressions after about 30 mins with the game. Fans of anime / manja or this series in particular would probably really enjoy it. For the casual it's harder to get into but I think they do a fair job telling the story even if it makes little sense to me.

If you do everything, you're looking at about 40-50 hours.

I basically just played God of War and Spider-Man back to back. Makes me lament the lack of quality exclusive single player games on the Xbone.
I played through Quantum Break recently and really enjoyed it, but it's a few years old now and Sony definitely has more/better exclusives.

Unrelated, it seems odd to me that Hitman 2 Prologue is included in the countdown. It's already free.

I saw on Slickdeals where you can save 15% off on Xbox Live credit with LoadUp Gifts via Rakuten after you apply the code SAVE15 at checkout.

https://slickdeals.net/f/12845833-microsoft-xbox-gift-card-100-for-85-50-for-42-50-25-for-21-25?src=frontpage

I've never used Rakuten myself, but I figured this might help you or someone else.
Rakuten is great for Xbox currency deals. They have had 15% fairly regularly and 20% off deals every 3-6 months (at least). They also have points systems, including a more frequent 20% back in points. I recently got a 30% in points deal that required using MasterCard ($30 in points for buying a $100 card), then used those points on a 20% deal ($10 off a $50 card), effectively paying $110 for $150 in currency.

To quote the Destructoid review scale for what they gave Crackdown: Slightly above average or simply inoffensive. Fans of the genre should enjoy it a bit, but a fair few will be left unfulfilled.

I used half my trial of Anthem, going to use the other half after the launch patch to see how better it actually gets.

I enjoy what I've played of Crackdown 3, but I'm really having a blast with Skyrim (finally) on my 360 right now!  I started the two around the same time and I'm more drawn to Skyrim. Once I hit the 2-3 hour mark, the Elder Scrolls addiction kicked in.  I am a fan of the Kinect voice commands.  It's awesome to just say 'New Save' and it be done, especially in a Bethesda game.  Saying "Wait" or "Attack" for companions is cool too.

Was this the pinnacle for Kinect?  Skyrim seems to have implemented it correctly, but I didn't use Kinect much in its prime.

Thanks!

I bought the bundle too and downloaded the first two games but my wife was playing red dead all weekend so i will try to get some time in. I am a casual fan of the series so i expect to enjoy it for what it is.

When I stated my intent to buy Moonlighter, someone asked me to report on it. Let me say that it’s a little vague about it’s systems but it’s exactly what I’d hoped it would be as an exercise in repetitive light grind stress relief. It pushes you to do one more turn, doesn’t punish you too hard for screwing up, and is generally quite pleasant. If this description appeals to you then it’s a definite recommend for me.

2012 was indeed, the peak of Kinect. Skyrim, Dance Central 3 and the greatest gem of all time, Star Wars Kinect[attachment=31837:wp_ss_20190218_0003.png]

Pretty much. ME3 had voice commands to save and maybe other similar stuff, I'm not sure because I never used it.

I liked the occasional motion control game for some silly fun but it was the x1 kinect that got the most use from me. My preowned from gamestop kinect died last year and the only things I miss are "xbox on/off" and "xbox volume up/down." I hated Cortana because you had to add "Cortana..." to all your commands, which just confused it half the time.

Kinect hall of fame:
Carnival Games
Kung Fu Kinect
Air Guitar Warrior
Fantasia

*edit* I forgot Star Wars Dancin! Top 5 contender easy.

I'm not sure which generation of Kinect we're talking about, but the absolute best Kinect game was Happy Action Theatre by Double Fine. I think it got renamed at some point. It's a shame that didn't come to Xbox One since that was probably the best showcase for Kinect and also perfect for demonstrating simple Kinect uses for in a family setting (a shame since they were forcing everyone to purchase Kinect and not showing people good reasons why). My kids loved messing with all the stuff and you never had to pick up a controller, pick who was player 1, 2, etc., keep score, etc. It was the digital equivalent of going to a playground.

I gave this some thought and I know what would have fixed this movie. Spoilers for the actual ending of Alita ahead:

If anyone from Hollywood is reading this, please feel free to contact me so I can tidy up your crappy scripts.
The dog scene is straight out of the source material, they actually toned it down a LOT compared to the anime. The fact that they kept stuff like that is part of what sets this apart from the many bad anime adaptions that feel the need to change much of the weird or dark stuff for "American tastes" or whatever.

Minor manga spoilers:

Apparently that dog actually comes back in the manga as well. I assume cyberized.

Movie thought spoilers:

I see your suggestion as decent, but that cuts down the movie by like 45 minutes so it'd need some pretty major changes. However, I think they needed to resolve all the Yugo (Hugo?) stuff in this movie. Since they're staying faithful they still need sword guy, but I suppose they could have pushed all the MotorBall competition stuff to the next movie, had the final fight be her assault on bounty hunter building, but worked his death in there somewhere while setting up revenge on Nova and here need to compete to get up to the city. If you push the MotorBall stuff out the earlier bonding activities with the street game would feel out of place to a degree as well, and it makes some of the doctor's back story less relevant to the movie, so more changes there.

As for not feeling stakes while Alita has the amped up body I think that's fair, but compare that to something like Iron Man 1. He upgrades his suit and seems pretty invincible until he fights a guy in a bigger suit. I think the fact that the MotorBall stuff had criminals and seasons bounty hunters is supposed to give the same feeling, though it would be much more effective with an enemy in a similarly strong body.

More Soul Calibur stuff.

The new update is up. Adds some quality of life changes, and 8 free CaS pieces for everyone, school uniform stuff. The paid CaS stuff is tomorrow but it will likely be available early  through a NZ region change like 2B was.

The update has be datamined. The DLC tags have been cleaned up a bit and this is what is there now.

DLC01 = 2B
DLC04 = Amy
DLC06 = Cassandra
DLC07 = Yell and Stone
DLC08 = Reptile and Yellow
DLC09 = Star and Snow

DLC's 3 and 5 aren't in the same folders because they aren't characters, these are the announced CaS packs. This seems to imply a second season pass, featuring 6 characters much like Tekken 7 season 2, possibly switching to two released at time which is also like Tekken. This could also mean that CaS packs will dry up and we'll only get the associated parts for these characters. I could also see Bamco selling this as a Character Pass, and selling parts separately. I assume making parts is less work than characters, and they sold a lot of packs for SCV. Some are speculating that we'll just change to getting a few free parts with each update because of the school stuff I mentioned earlier, but I'm not sure about this. Those parts were actually a pre-order bonus in Japan, so they already existed.

Character speculation:
  • Yell = ?
  • Stone = Rock
  • Reptile = Aeon/Lizardman (Lizardman already had some unique animations in game when a basic story version of the character was made playable with mods)
  • Yellow = ?
  • Star = Viola (She's a fortune teller/mystic. This would be a bit weird since she is presumably an older Amy that lost her memories. Same voice actress)
  • Snow = Setsuka (Her name means Snow Flower in Japanese)
While many fans are calling for the missing older characters like Setsuka, Yun-seong, and Hilde, it is possible at least one of these slots is another guest. My GoT speculation is back on the table to get someone, presumably Jon Snow based on that list, in much like Tekken did with Walking Dead. I don't know SC lore that well so I'm not sure on some of these guess, and I hope rock isn't in unless he's changed a lot.

Other takeaways in general:
-Amy is coming a Soul Chronicle (story mode), but no stage.
-2B is still listed as DLC 1, with Tira's files actually stored in the base game files. All signs point to here having been finished then ripped out to have an incentive to get the season pass early.
-Amy has had some new moves added and has a mechanic to build up a special kind of attack throughout the fight. It seems like they're at least trying to make her more unique to quell people bitching about another rapier user who has shared moves with Raphael in the past.
-Bamco did come out and say they considered SCVI to be successful so a second season is at least realistic.

Of what I've watched I'd personally wait until they at least try and fix some of the annoying stuff. Right now people are saying loading times are at least 20% of the play time.
I played a few hours and I can confirm you will spend a ton of your 10 hour trial in loading screens . I’m not really liking it and I’m pissed Mass Effect died for a Destiny clone. Review score - 5 Yikes out of 10 Yikes
