Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

I got it on the deal and am fairly certain I will never play any of them. I feel like one of those billionaires smoking hundred dollar bills while you sit in the gutter begging for scraps and it feels glorious!
Lol fair enough. I hope that when you DO play one of them, those zombies whoop your ass.

Glad I learned my lesson on not waiting on deals that seem too good to be true (I'll get you one day, Wolfenstein). Even though I wish Capcom would just make the games BC, I guess I don't mind buying RE4 a third time when I get all the others for so cheap. Maybe I'll actually finish RE4 and RE1 this time (RE:DS didn't do it for me).

fuck all of you who got the Resident Evil Bundle.

Super salty right now.
Well I don't even like that genre, so there's that.....

and I got it.

Missed the Battlefront deal the other month where the season pass was on sale and now only wait if I really am unsure I want the deal.

I would love to actually speak with some of the people who go to metacritic just to rate Mass Effect a 0 to see what kind of person takes the time to do such things. Even more I would like to talk to the ones who write an entire review. Not everyone has to love the game but it is clearly not a 0 or even 3.
The funny thing is that because of this practice, no one will ever take user reviews seriously. So they actually contribute to their own obsolescence. If they wrote negative reviews and gave them realistic scores (or pretended to have actually played the game), they may actually be taken seriously, but I guess that's just not as satisfying.

paying attention to scores is the wrong method anyway

waiting for everything and anything to get around 10 bucks or 20 bucks with dlc and buying blindly is the right method

They just need to make people not hide behind anonymity when reviewing. I've seen some people bring up on TrueAchievements that people should be forced to leave a comment when voting negative on a solution. Never really saw a valid reason why they didn't enforce that.

This is the only way. I gameshare with my brother and he hates it when I give him crap for buying things at launch. Just wait a few months and it'll be half off at least.

I agree that there needs to be a validity to criticism, but I also think it cannot work for a similar reason. I think it was EA that had the forum team have to use their real names. They had harassment issues almost immediately, since their personal information could now be researched.

There are some people who just rate things as low as possible to be an ass, but there are similarly some who blindly give things perfect scores. Remember when GTAIV had almost perfect scores from reviews? I don't think most would agree that game was perfection.

Sort of like when you buy something online, you glance at the positive and negative, but really find the best value in the middle. "Yes, the game is fun, but the glitches and frame rate problems make the game difficult to play in later stages, as the the number of enemies on screen almost bring the game to a standstill." A statement like that tells me a direct issue. It's much better than someone saying "Best game EVER!" or "game is ass lolz."

But while I definitely agree it doesn't help to have no name or accountability to statements, I also feel like even if you genuinely wrote something valid with criticism there would still be people who would harass you over your views. So you cannot force a name onto it, as it almost begs for you to become a target.

I think the best, most useful solution the problem could just be something like removing a numerical system, and just, you know, have people leave legitimate reviews, with words and useful thoughts. Rather than a scale of yes or no, 1 to 5, 0 to 100%, I wish companies had the balls to have a review site where you just write an interpretation. When someone asks me about a movie, I don't dramatically turn to them and say "3 out of 27," or some other ambiguous number system. I explain what I liked and didn't like, what (if anything) I wish was different, and inform the person of my opinion. That's the way reviews should absolutely be.

Just to add to this, I've been on RottonTomatoes a few times and seen their review system be non-useful. Sometimes positive reviews will actually seem negative, and negative reviews will even state that this isn't a movie for them (the reviewer). But the quick glance number system is what people go for, and then complain that the movie sucked or wasn't that bad, and the reviews were stupid.

It's like making a website where you rank things from Ketchup to Mustard, and then explain that the game is Mayonnaise. I'm almost forced to read the review, as I at least genuinely have no clue what that rating means. That's the same with numbers. But I guess in a time where people just can't stop and read, the numbers will weigh more, and thus people (and even companies) can bombard sites with ultra positive or negative reviews since it basically interrupts people's own laziness.

Your idea of a negative response to a review or something required a counter reply, that might be the best option. Though I suspect there would just be a lot of ".........(10 chars)" or "dude is an idiot, prolly never played," and not many "I agree that the final section is really unfair with the difficulty, but the game is so much fun for the first 2/3s that I almost don't care about finishing it."

Some super quick reviews for the games I have played that are on sale this week:

Beyond Eyes - Mellow walking sim about a blind girl. If you like walking games there is a good chance you'll enjoy this one

Coffin Dodgers - Decent kart racer, no online

Dear Esther - My least favorite walking sim, I would still replay it again for the achievements

Fragments of Him - This walking sim was just ok, I would take beyond eyes over this, a decent story

In Between - Puzzle platformer with an interesting story about a guy with cancer

Never Alone - Easy platformer about an eskimo, for $3 I definitely recommend it

Thomas Was Alone - Funny platformer, decent

Valley - Fun exploration type game in the vain of Assassin's Creed, I don't believe there is any combat

Wheels of Aurelia - A story game(walking sim but driving a car) set in 70's Italy, I liked it a lot

My least favorite was Dear Esther followed distantly by Fragments of Him.  They all have easy achievements and don't overstay their welcome.  If you don't go in expecting AAA games and are willing to overlook some minor issues I think they are all entertaining.

"G, A, M, E, O, V, E, R, G-A-M-E O-V-E-R, GAME O-, GAME O-, GAME O-, GAME OVERRRR"

Also, this gives me an excuse to finally give Stacking a chance. Played it a bit after buying it years ago and got sidetracked, but it seemed fun enough.

Nicely done. I concur that Fragments of Him, Never Alone, Wheels of Aurelia are pretty good at those prices. Never Alone especially is great at $3 and you can even learn something if you're so inclined.

I also completed Knee Deep, which I think is on sale this week. Like Wheels of Aurelia, worth it for the original and slightly insane experience alone. Of the four, I'd go Knee Deep, Never Alone, Fragments of Him, Wheels of Aurelia.

Some things to keep in mind:

Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions has been delisted out of the blue before and this is the lowest price it's been (and probably ever will be), so if you ever wanted the game, now's the time to bite. Game's easily worth $5.

Snoopy is another licensed Activision game that has a big enough discount that I'm concerned about it being delisted.

I don't see it in Bloomy's OP, but don't forget that several EA 360 games have had DLC on sale this past week. Mass Effect 2 & 3, SSX, Burnout Paradise, Skate 3 and Dragon Age: Origins are the titles I've personally spotted. Grabbed the Burnout Paradise & Skate 3 DLC seeing as I already have all the rest.

Last note, I grabbed the Syndicate Season Pass and I can confirm it comes with all the Syndicate Gold Edition content (aside from the base game which has been on sale at retail for peanuts, so don't bother with this sale) except for the previously Gold Edition exclusive Huntsman's Outfit which is now available as a Ubi Club Reward.

tl;dr There's no need to buy the Gold Edition if you already have the base game.

Yeah, the Deluxe Origins Bundle (which I was looking at before the Super Bundle glitch) has the Costume Pack for RE0HD included for free (MSRP is $40 instead of $50) but even that bundle doesn't include the $1 pre-order T-Shirt. Gotta love that Capcom greed, having $11 of cosmetic DLC for a decade+ old port.
fuck! Was the mass effect dlc ever posted on the main post? I somehow missed it.

I turned on to download Daytona but I can't login, already tried hard resetting, wtf MS :(
You should already see the new BC games you own in your Ready to Install list without having to sign in. That is, of course, if you are on your Home console.

xbl sign in and content usage are experiencing technical difficulties at this time.
Crap. Yesterday I was not able to get into Gears nor Andromeda as the stupid Xbox kept kicking me back to the home menu saying I wasn't online (when I was). Obviously, the friend I do gameshare with had no problems since his console is as far as XBL is concerned, "my" home console.

I joined a while ago but never got an actual update actually. Last update on 16th December according to the settings.

I couldn't check the website either, I guess that's the reason. Well, back to Recore I guess.

Not on my home console, but even if I was I don't think I could've downloaded it, because I still have RE 5 and 6 in my queue and I keep getting "installation interrupted".

it's not the preview program, rough couple of days over there for the xbox live team. Ha maybe they are revoking everyone's Resident Evil bundle ;)

Can I piggyback with a couple thoughts?

Dear Esther is the only game I wish I hadn't played and legitimately wanted my life back. It's set to be this methodical, introspective, deep story, but I got none of that, and was thoroughly annoyed. You interact with literally nothing in this game.

Thomas Was Alone I assume most have played. It's fun, clever, good narration. My only gripe is that the ending was very sudden and the later levels were a bit of a chore (move one guy an inch, swap through six others to get to the one you want, move it an inch, repeat). I still recommend it, I just thought the first half was golden while the latter half wore out its welcome a little.

"Little shits buying all these mispriced RE bundles. We'll teach em by breaking all our services and then they'll thank us for taking it back and keeping their money just to make it work again!"

There's a boatload of Mass Effect 2 DLC and I want to grab it all before it's removed. Arrival, Overlord, Genesis, Shadow Broker and Kasumi. Are these the only (lol "only") important ones?
All worth it at this discounted price. Overlord was tied to one of the books so, if you read that one, it was super cool. Still holds up on its own, was just a nice bonus to know what was going on. Shadow Broker is the must have in that whole bunch, Kasumi is a lot of fun as well as Arrival (I actually liked it more so being cut off from your squad and having that personal conversation with somebody, you're ultimate fan! lol)

Yes, those are them.

Genesis is a creation system to get you into a ME2 game with decisions made in ME1 when you didn't play the game. It's an interactive comic book, essentially. Not needed unless you want to make those plot points without playing ME1.
Or when you're powering through the trilogy and doing speed runs haha.

Arrival just puts you ina shitty position where either outcome sucks but the immersion and solid game play were still there so i didn't feel gypped when i got it.
The amount of isolation and desperation I felt while playing this one was hella adrenaline rush. I'm like damn it, where's my lovely squad!?

This is the only way. I gameshare with my brother and he hates it when I give him crap for buying things at launch. Just wait a few months and it'll be half off at least.
Normally that's my MO as well but not with games like Mass Effect where you don't want anything spoiled. It's the same shit having to go watch a new Star Wars movie lol, although I skipped Rogue One because yeah I know what happened (I'm planning on grabbing the Blu-ray some time).

My game being shipped to my house got delayed due to a late UPS trailer. Gahhh! (The ironic thing is I have the full fuckin' game on my hard drive from checking it out with EA Access' trial but I can't play it. *smacks forehead)

They aren't going to revoke the RE bundles...
I've never read the fine print in my life so I'd assume it comes down to that and backlash from doing it to decide

I'd assume pricing errors are within their rights but like I said last night given that it wasn't free or like a buck it's not as cut and dry and there would be some backlash

if they can't digitally price something accurately I would think cancelling all those orders and payments would be more of a pain in the ass than it may be worth to them

3 more disappointing games, BC sure has taken a strange turn
I fart in your general direction. Stacking is a gem of a game!

There's a Europe Special Sale going on but it's nothing to get too excited about.

So, Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords. Is it worth it after all these years or has it been outclassed? I'll add that I'm a last-gen luddite that at least owns a smartphone.
