Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

I think you read his post too literally. He wasn't claiming Mass Effect: Andromeda uses the same engine its predecessors did.

So, what'll it be? An inevitability due to its technical and design scope or an indication of it being released before it had been thoroughly optimised and polished?
I think Mass Effect Andromeda will be like Destiny was and now Destiny had all the updates and is great now. We're going from good to great, not bad to great. I agree it's not polished but a trend were seeing right now, and you don't have to agree with it unfortunately, games come out with holes to be patched later - as long as those game ending bugs are gone they will ship it. It's money in the industry, keep delaying and putting all the man powers, often times which includes overtime, into a game and that red balance in the books keeps getting bigger. You're not making a profit if it's not in peoples' hands, sans early access and crowd sourced stuff.

Yeah switching from A to Y, which I could only assume is the PS' influence overall in the controls scheme, makes me jump when I hit A when I should have hit Y to interact with something. That's annoying and could be fixed with the ability of a simple button mapping option.

I think they'll fix the bugs and animations will be better in DLC, but I really doubt any major animation overhaul will happen to story stuff that we have now.

I can't wait until this feature gets here:

Hopefully it's the start of many many new ways to filter your game library.

Semi neat feat but what would be golden is if on your achievement list they tell you whats part of a dlc achievement and if you can filter it on/off.I know people like to get that 1000gs then dlc drops and it looks like you didn't get the 100% achievements.

I just store all my X1 games to the external 4TB and the 360 ones to the internal. Same thing really, so this feature isn't as awesome to me. Can't wait for custom gamerpics

Would really LOVE the ability to delete X1 games that appear on your gamercard that have a big fat 0/1000 gamerscore. We could do it on 360, why take that feature away this time around?

Looks neat! Are you in the preview program? Does it save your setting? Like if you pick Xbox One, the next time you start up your console and go to that screen, will XB1 still be selected? I assume yes, because the tile sizes are saved, but if not, they should make that a thing.

I do the same thing. 360 on internal, XB1 on externals. This make it easier though. Now you don't have to manually do that to be able to sort between them.

I don't mind this as much as having betas that are 0/0 show up on your gamercard. Maybe if games don't show up until you earn an achievement would be better? I can imagine it can still track your progress and you can see that in the game hub even if it's not on your gamercard.

For now my plan is to always have a 360 for the 360 games

now, throw another RROD my way and if more of my shit goes bc I may change my position but I dunno, just something I really liked that I'm gonna try to keep around. Shouldn't be too hard to get a like new/new one if mine breaks down.

I own three of the four games next month in the GWG and the one I don't own, I have on 360 already. BUT DON'T PANIC! I bought 41 games this year so far and have Persona 5 preordered.
Whew! I was worried your backlog might dip into the 200s. Haha

30 hours into Mass Effect, when does it get terrible like the internet says? It's getting murdered by user reviews on metacritic. It's very good so far. I've only played one game of multiplayer but can't wait to finish the campaign to explore it more.
Well, that's because user reviews are just a platform for fanboy wars over consoles, developers, other game series, and other things it makes no real sense to have such extreme loyalty to.

I need some help from you guys, I really want to get Mass Effect but I've never played the first 3 even though I've had them installed for who knows how long.
You're in luck! You can play this one without playing the first three or enjoy the first three and in the meantime, Andromeda will only get cheaper. The first three are only mentioned peripherally and don't really affect the story from what I've seen.

Aside from the widely acknowledged characters and animations, it's more the fact that they didn't live up to expectations, first in comparison to standouts like The Witcher 3 and secondly in comparison to their own standards. It's like if a straight A student suddenly turned in a C exam -- sure it's a passing grade, but they clearly didn't study or try hard enough.
Everyone has different priorities when it comes to games (for instance, load times or even bugs aren't a deal-breaker for me...then again, I'm a Bethesda fan lol). But one thing I think is a bit unfair is expecting the new Mass Effect to compare to The Witcher 3 or whatever. It's like comparing the next superhero film to some artsy fartsy drama that swept the Oscars. They're trying to achieve different things. I don't think the test-taking analogy works because in games as in all of the arts, they're not taking the same tests. What ME tries to do is different than what Witcher 3 tried to do, and so forth.

Ahh, well I basically said I wish I was watching this show on Blu-ray because then I'd go right to the next episode instantly.
Glad someone mentioned that the finale is coming up. I've been meaning to watch and haven't, so now I'll just wait to binge them all.

Wellllll...but if you didn't get the DLC achievements, you didn't really 100% the game, though. I'd like for MS to display a total for completed games on profiles or somewhere since I think it's more impressive than overall GS. But what I really want is MS to allow for custom folders in the Games menu instead of a few generic sorting options.

Well... I'm sad to report this but the power rangers movie sucks.

1 hr and 45 minutes of useless talking from characters that you hate.

15 minutes of terrible cgi fighting.

I was actually rooting for Rita to kill everybody. I left before it was even over. They hadn't even combined into the mega zord before I pieced out.

I'm not joking when I say you have seen the whole entire fight scene in the trailer.

You can't even tell what the zords are supposed to be. One looks like a dung beetle, one is a flying .....something, another kinda looks like a T-Rex.....Or maybe just a a turd with a tail.

The TV original tv show is actually better then the movie and that's saying a lot since the TV show is just a tad bit cheesy.

Dang. I was actually hoping it would be good.

Got that Power Rangers freebie but really worried that I might accidentally walk into the theater showing Life or Get Out...

Those movie theater complexes can be confusing. ;)

Andromeda isn't perfect, but after spending this much time with it I believe it's an 8/10.
If you dealt with floats instead of ints, or scaled to 100, would it be a 7.5/10 or 75/100 that rounds up to an 8, thereby falling in line with the reviewer score aggregators?

Can you tell that I take breaks from writing lit reviews to comment on here? ;)
Do you mean literature reviews, or reviews written while drunk? A little from column A, a little from column B?

Well, the original show had Amy Jo Johnson. And while I've only see the commercials / trailers, the Zords looked better (which you indicated).

I really thought from the ads that Zac Efron was the Red Ranger, though he looked a little off.

I think the reviewer aggregate score is spot on. I am referring to the user score sitting around a 4 and all the hate it's getting on social media.

Seeing Dangerous Golf drop to 70% on the other console furthers my resolve in waiting for a deeper discount than the 50% we're getting this week.

Can't believe how much I'm liking Ryse the further I play it. When it drops in a week, thinking I'll download it and go through a Legendary run.....

The difficulty definitely gets pretty hard. I personally could not do the Legendary difficulty.

Got Dangerous Golf on PC as part of a Humble Bundle and wasn't that impressed. Wish those guys were still able to make Burnout games.

One button for multiple actions works really well when done correctly. Ocarina of Time uses the A button for everything and it changes on context. Miyamoto liked it so much he designed the Gamecube controller that way to center on one primary action button.

But if games don't keep up with the context-sensitive application of a multi-use button, then the whole concept stops feeling innovative and is just annoying.

Can you tell that I take breaks from writing lit reviews to comment on here? ;)
I mean it worked as well as any have but there was still plenty of rolling when you wanted to do something else.

Some super quick reviews for the games I have played that are on sale this week:

Valley - Fun exploration type game in the vain of Assassin's Creed, I don't believe there is any combat
I was just looking at the sales page on my Xbox and realized I had confused Valley with Submerged. I have not played Valley, Submerged was decent. Sorry bout that.

If I pretend to have bought it based off your review, and hated it, would u pay me the cost to make up for false promotion? Cuz if so, I bought Valley and hated it. Thanks alot Loinsteak.

That's amazing. Hope it's one of a number of great things with the new release

That's what I've been doing, though with one added extra. Anything I'm playing regularly / semi-regularly is on a 1TB external SSD.

If you dealt with floats instead of ints, or scaled to 100, would it be a 7.5/10 or 75/100 that rounds up to an 8, thereby falling in line with the reviewer score aggregators?
If that was the case, wouldn't Zelda be 105/100 with the hype factor added in?

Anyone here ever play Singularity? I have the disc but I don't know if I actually want to play it or just sell it back because of EB Games' 50% bonus trade credit?

Just got back from using my free PR movie pass to see Life (don't feel bad - theater was probably 20% full). Not bad Alien rip off even though I could see the ending a mile away.

Decent enough to hold me over to what I hope will really be my 2017 movie highlight: Alien Covenant.

It isn't live yet, but I would assume the view would stick the same way it does now.

In no universe is this true. As bad as the movie could be, it would never be as bad as any of the TV shows.

Someone either talk me into getting the elite controller or pass. Got a bonus and my 2 launch controllers have seen better days, so I'm thinking of getting one. The price is really a sticking point for me.

if you got the money and your obligations handled buy what makes you happy

if your kids are eating top ramen with rat meat don't buy the controller

You should wait until they launch a new version of the controller with Bluetooth. Who knows if that will happen though.

The price is steep but I love mine. Honestly when I go back to my 360 that controller feels like a toy and I love the 360 controller (main reason I stuck with MS). I do not even use the paddles and I am still glad I bought it.

I would definetly recommend upgrading to the newer controllers with the grippies at the least.

As for the elite, I've passed a couple times on refurbs ~100 and costco deals for ~115. The only thing that really interests me about it is saving multiple button mappings, so as to get around stupid games with 6 controller setups that all suck (here's looking at you, Mass Effect -seriously, wtf are the only melee options A & Y?) I've played with a friend's, and it's certainly nice, but I don't see myself using the paddles or alternate thumbsticks.

OMG That 3 by the Badgers...now hold for OT!!!!

Yes  OT!  Guess I am not watching Dr. Strange tonight.

I never use mine. If you aren't super hard core you'll probably wind up the same way. Of I were going to get a controller I'd get one of the design labs ones. I might get one for my bday anyways.

The only functions I really like on the elite are the trigger stops and the ability to turn the brightness of the logo down.
