Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

So from the sale I ended up with Dungeon Punks (played the first two levels, I don't think it's that great), Emily Wants to Play (haven't tried it yet) and Saturday Morning RPG (haven't tried it yet).

I'll probably grab another couple cheap ones before Monday night.

Question for FH3 players: how far along in the story do I have to be to access the hot wheels dlc? I want to try it out tonight but I've only unlocked the second hub area.

I think you can pretty much go to it at anytime I believe there should be an Icon on the map for hotwheels and blizzard mountain sorry I can't remember where they are haven't played it in awhile

If your getting a XBox One X, get ready for high electricity bills but with the perk of sexyness. Titanfall can render at 6k (then downsample to 4k) looking even better. Possibly the first XBox One X game that is able to render at 6k thanks to dynamic scaling.

Rather then quote the thread I'll quote the developer who posted about it on Neogaf.

The internal render resolution is dictated by the GPU load, so obviously there are no guarantees as to how often it renders at particular resolutions, but essentially we're using 100% GPU all the time.

If you need ideas for easy achievements for that look at my account on TA. Only had time for easy ones. Only a few days left. And I'm on Q...
Hmm, unfortunately your J was on Windows Phone. Don't have that, and I already have that J achievement in the Win8 version of MS Bingo. I've gone through the letters, will need to find ones for J, Q, U, X, Y and Z.

It's like it was a t-shirt with wolves on it.

Why does everyone always say they can't multi-quote, etc. using mobile? I have no problems doing it.

They only want blind allegiance on this site. Independent thought is frowned upon.
I generally like your posts, but that is the silliest shit I've read all day and you should know better for as long as you've been around now.

Now that we're back on topic, I think my HDR woes have been solved?

Part of the problem was expectation. After seeing some people on here claim it was life changing, I thought I'd see an incredibly impressive picture once that HDR kicked in.

Well... it didn't happen.

After screwing around with Netflix, a 4K UHD Bluray, and FH3 for a while, I finally did see what the fuss was about, and I believe there's way too much fuss. Yes, to an almost indescribable degree (and I mean that with a negative connotation), HDR is an improvement. It's just kinda not a big deal.

Spoiler for the rest of the story since I feel it's long.

My basic fix was seeing that Forza Horizon 3 had a new option in the video settings to adjust the HDR brightness. After maxing the backlight and contrast as well as this new setting, and then adjusting the brightness per the same menu in game, I thought I had it looking halfway decent. I drove around a while, noticing that it looked not terrible anymore, and then suddenly the sun came out. Out of any part of this HDR experience, that was the first moment where I was little bit in awe. It probably had a lot to do with being relieved that it seemed to be working after all the headaches I've had tweaking and Googling.

Night time did look nice and dark yet still clear, bright sunlight was really good, but inbetween it's kinda blah. I think that's the goal? Mimicking the grayness of a real life overcast day?

My takeaway is that it's nice, but not a visual orgasm. And it takes a minute to get used to it. It truly looks bizarre at first. The colors just look... wrong. And then the brain (hopefully) clicks and figures out what the display is trying to do, and then it starts to look okay. It's hard to put in words.

Anyway, thanks for the help I got earlier in the week.

tl;dr HDR looks good, but in my opinion is not as amazing as you might have heard. You can live without it for now.
you also have admittedly cheap ass tv, go look how high it's max white brightness can get compared to like the $900 Samsung K series

I only paid $649 six months ago for my 55" KU6300 Samsung from Costco. It's not as good as the 8000 but I've been quite happy with it.

Yeah I use Tapatalk on mobile devices and it does multi quote easily, just tap once on each post you want to quote, then a small icon appears on the upper right corner of the screen, looks like a speech bubble. Tap that and you'll have your multi quote ready to start typing.

The TV was initially sold at $899, and I got it for $349 thanks to the company evaporating their American business. It's relatively cheap, especially since the brand is unknown and they're doing this fire sale, but the picture is freaking great. Reviews at the time of release in November last year were comparing it to the midrange Sony, LG, Samsung, and Vizio models with the conclusion that it was not quite as good as some of them yet right up there with others and a steal at the original price.

The changing of the guard, my friend. I think the thing that you guys have to keep in mind about me is that I could truly care less about what these people think about me. Too many real world concerns. I just come here because I like talking about the games. Eff the rest.

I just learned a few months ago that the check mark means to like a post. I used to think it was to report a post. At least I hope it is to like a post otherwise I've been reporting a lot of posts.

LOL. I think that's what it does as that's what I've been using it for.

Downloaded tapatalk. Yikes does that that have an nasty ass interface. Personally like the clean mobile view. Honestly, other than multi quotes, I have no issues with it.

And I've just been opening a second browser window and cutting and pasting a quote when I need to (which I don't think is often enough to switch to Tapatalk after seeing it).

lol. If you truly could care less, then you wouldn't respond to every single post that involves you and you wouldn't need to tell everyone that you could care less. Oh, and we wouldn't know that you have a master's degree.

For those doing the TA Alphabet Challenge, don't forget it ends June 26, not the 30th.

I finished it about a week ago. Was going through really old uncompleted games for certain letters, then quickly realized why I haven't touched those games in 5 to 10 years. Did make me go back to Darkstalkers Resurrection, so not all bad.

Former GwG Guacamelee has some X achievements and Earthlock has a Z as the first achievement. Zombie games tend to have a few Zs as well.

Is there a mobile version of the site and that's what everyone's talking about when they talk about problems with multiquoting? I tend to not use mobile versions so I just have to tap the "multiquote" button like when on the PC. It can get pretty frustrating though since I have to zoom in a bunch to accurately hit the button.

Speaking of mobile, been researching a new phone OS/brand even though I've enjoyed my windows phones. The WP has a great layout but the lack of support/mainstream apps is starting to get to me. Think I may choose the galaxy 8 over the pixel. Will need to try out an iphone as well but I'm pretty sure I'm not a huge fan of the OS with my minimal usage. I also will need to think about what I want more, a 4k TV or a new phone, since I don't know if I want to spend ~$1700 on two new electronic devices in the next few months, not even factoring the X in if there are good trade in promos for that.

I just didn't like being misquoted which is what the last guy on the Xbox deals thread did. I offend people on here and in real life, and I take responsibility for that, but people saying that I mentioned that I have a masters degree for the purpose of belittling someone is just plain untrue because it never happened. One person claimed I said that last Sunday which I never did. Love to see the post where I did if you can find it. So, in summary, I just hate liars.

To quote a favorite movie of mine, "They keep pulling me back in!"

I wish you guys could just get over the masters degree thing. I'm trying to move forward. Let's hold hands and walk off into the sunset!

Yeah, on Safari at least it defaults to the mobile version. I've tried the full version and it's not horrible on phone but still a bit tiny for my liking. Like I said the mobile version is nice and clean. Only problem I have with it is multiqouting. And I can work around that.

Also, I'm visiting relatives in Chicago (Vernon Hills to be specific). Are there any mid-Western chains worth visiting for game deals?

5 Below sometimes has decent deals. Battleborn is common

Yeah, I just use the regular web version of the site on mobile. That must be why I don't have the issues with multi-quoting (other than clumsy, inaccurate fingers).

Honestly, my only thought on this post: If you don't care, then you couldn't care less. "Could" care less means that you do care to some degree, however little it may be.

I just realized I've done 3200GS this month. Granted, part of that was The Swapper. It's kinda meaningless fun, though, I may set a goal for the summer before the fall semester when I won't have any real time for games.

I was typing that when I was supposed to be working, but I think everybody got the gist of what I meant. No time to check my grammar since my boss was breathing down my neck at the time. Kind of tired of having to continue to defend myself here, but what's one more time? But can we get back to talk about the weekly sale or everybody's favorite food or whatever it is that people discuss in the Xbox Deals thread?

When I download Tapatalk onto my phone, I instantly set it to dark mode as I can't stand the light mode. That makes it way better immediately. Also, for some reason I just recently started seeing adverts at the front and end of every page of posts (set to 10 posts per page in the app). I was pretty close to spending the $15 for lifetime support for the app and then I heard that John is writing an app for CAG that will work with lots of features once we go 4.0 here, so I'm holding off on that $15 purchase.

If you haven't been to Fry's Electronics, there are a handful in the area. They occasionally have some old-timey Collector's Editions of video games or special editions of movies / TV Shows for a great price if you're lucky.

I didn't have a problem with you until you posted that haul you found at a local Walmart. Now I HAAAAATE you. :)

But honestly, congrats on sticking with education long enough to have what you have. I couldn't be bothered to finish my four years, but I don't really regret it at this point.

Thanks, man, but as I said, deciding to get a degree doesn't make me special or privileged. If I had a million dollars, that would make me a millionaire but it wouldn't take anything away from anyone who didn't have a million bucks. I get paid a lot a less than what I should, so having it isn't doing me much good. That's why I've been on CAG for the past decade - to make my gaming budget stretch. The funny part is that I've posted more in the past week than I did on here all last year. Just to defend myself. I miss the early days of CAG when we weren't all trying to be the alpha male and set up rules for how others posted. We just enjoyed talking about games and sharing deals. Then, the new kids came in recently and spoiled that with their rules. Dumb. And yes, I believe that so I posted it.

And I've always liked your username. Big Friends fan. I thought it was clever. ;)

I got around to playing some of the games on sale...

Rogue Legacy: Fun little platformer that is credited with dubbing rogue-lite. You find gold and use it to upgrade your character, but the upgrades costs go up for all upgrades each time and you can't take any gold with you back into the dungeon. Oh, and each time you die you get to pick from three potential new characters. The main flaw I see so far is that you're stuck with a sword. Dark Souls spoils me with weapon variety.

Heart&Slash: I heard reviewers liked the music... I muted it and put Amon Amarth on in the background. Another roguelite, this time you keep experience you didn't spend on your last life so it encourages saving up for a super powered run. It was ok, but one I'll probably put more time into.

Breach & Clear: Dead Line: I didn't notice this was a zombie shooter, which I find inherently boring. Interesting blend of tactical and sort of a twin stick shooter. Not quite turn based, but you have a mode that lets you give orders and control how fast time advances. You can also turn that off with a single button press and play run&gun. I briefly looked at the skill trees and it looked like quite a bit of depth. Overall fun little game, but it's not giving me the same risk/reward thrill ride of Xcom.

Guns, Gore, and Cannoli: Oh look, more zombies. *Sigh* Side scrolling, Metal Gear style game with a strongly racist portrayal of Italians. I love it but I wish there were some rpg mechanics, or something to differentiate the characters from just skins. The controls do kinda stink and you can't change them.

Stories of Bedlam: Thoroughly meh. You seem to have a much bigger hitbox than most enemies. I got to the first boss and got bored of the stupid little wind blast attack you're stuck with while he was pummeling me with fireballs and summoning swarms of shooters.

Saturday Morning RPG: Ugh, why do turn based games have to add some stupid timed button press mechanics everytime? Ugh. I liked Stick of Truth, so I'll put more time in later but I like being able to take my time and zone out in turn based games.

If you want this thread to be about games or gaming, maybe talk about that some?

Now, the Captain has the right idea. Cue "You da real MVP" GIF.
LMAO. I'm sure you were refering to the game reviews but it was funny to see after I had caught up on the thread and editted my post to mock you. I'm sorry dude, this is going downhill very quickly.

I'm glad you mentioned this, I didn't realize it ended early and would have been bummed if I didn't finish in time.

Does anyone browse CAG using the Edge browser?  If so, do you have any trouble scrolling through this particular thread?  The scrolling degrades to the point where I can no longer scroll at all with a mouse wheel, the space bar, up/down arrows, or by grabbing the scroll bar on the side.  Other threads seem to work fine.

Speaking of achievements, yesterday I unlocked four in the Ultra Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf DLC. I was kinda lost since I've never given a single fuck about golf (I barely consider it a sport anyways lol). Had to look up terms like "eagle", "birdie" and "under par".

I'm giving it another go tonight but it was fun once I got the basics of it. Not as over the top as the Ultra Super Arcade Hyper Deluxe Alpha Plus from DR3 but fun nonetheless.

Thanks...I think. My life is pretty much a mess outside of CAG, so that's where the self destruction comes in.

OK, guys. Did anyone pick up Amazing Sarah for Xbox One yet, and is it the regurgitated mess of a Castlevania clone that it appears to be?

Yeah, we have Frys down South in Atlanta about two hours from me, but even here it's over an hour away. Not worth it.

New Gears 4 event this weekend - Golden Gun (insta-gib, 1 bullet Golden Boltok that refills if you hit your target). Also a new Gnasher skin for logging in to the game, and a new card pack containing Palace Guard and Theron Sentinel character and weapon skins.

https://gearsofwar.com/en-us/community/news/golden-weekend
I just blew over 10,000 Credits on Horde Booster Packs yesterday..I should have known better...even though those cosmetical skins don't get me anywhere =P

I almost did the same thing last night, but I thought "Let's see if they do anything new this weekend."
Personal question: Do you buy more horde or community packs and do have an opinion which way is faster, scrapping cards to get horde skills or just buy horde packs? (Since I only scrap duülicates I don't get much scrap either way.....only exception was, that I scrapped all of my day of the dead weapons (I had 3) to actually craft one legendary character lol...

Massive Chalice if you didn't get it when it was gwg
I want to do an anti-recommendation here. I think I've built up a bias against Double Fine, but I really didn't like this game. It felt like another half-baked idea that was put out for sale only half polished. If you want this style of gameplay you're way better off with XCOM 1 or 2.

I use edge, works fine for me on my surface. Almost exclusively use touch though.

I use Edge (especially when I'm on battery) and it works fine for me. I don't have an external mouse though, so I can't talk for that.

Overall I think it's way faster to buy Horde Packs, at least until you have a decent selection, since you can only craft cards you already have gotten. I'd only focus on using scrap to build up skills you really think will help your play style, as I don't think most of them add that much of an advantage unless you're playing on Insane.

Best way I've seen to build scrap is to wait for the 400 credit event packs that only have a few cosmetics. You'll get a lot of doubles to scrap for relatively cheap. The best on was the first Carmine pack as he seemed to be somewhat common but was a purple so gave a lot of scrap.
