The wording of that announcement is weird. It reads as if there will be separate X1 and Scorpio title releases. I mean, I understand that the Scorpio releases later than the title itself, but doesn't it sound like the Scorpio will have it's own version released?

I thought that all titles would play on both, just with a little extra oomph from the Scorpio?

Ugh. I'm not a fan of these mid-console lifespan upgrades. Slims and remodels I can deal with... but this PS4Pro, X1S (w/4K), Scorpio business? I'd rather just wait a few more years and have them release the next generation of consoles which are also undoubtedly being worked on instead of having to buy another full-priced console to get the full experience of games I'm buying for the current generation.

Of course I'll buy a Scorpio and sell my white SSO X1, but I still have to justify that to my wife.

You are correct - there is only one version. The wording is misleading. Should say "optimized" for Scorpio.

 
On the Microsoft buy an Oscar movie for $5 and get $5 back, it specifically indicates it gives you a $5 Microsoft Store card back, so if i'm thinking correctly, I can spend my Xbox credit to purchase said movies and even if the store card has a short term expiration date I can just buy more Xbox credit to replace what I spent which will then not have a short term expiration date (since on the store card has the short term expiration date).  Am I thinking this through correctly?  I have a lot of credit and just wondering why I don't get a lot of the movies for essentially free.

I bought ESO: Gold, Xcom 2, and Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition. I figured this would bump me to 4 stars for the MyVIP star upgrade offer. Has anyone not had Halo Wars 2 credit for this? It looks like it's about 1/2 way so I'm thinking ESO, and Xcom credited. I bought Halo Wars 2 a week ago, so it should have buy now, I specifically made sure not to buy the preorder.

I swear, I'd be upset about it if they weren't practically giving the consoles away at this point. Pretty soon, they're going to be giving them out when you buy a frozen pizza.

I don't have a 4K tv (and won't get one until prices drop), so the S wasn't something I cared about. When the Scorpio comes out, I'll make a decision on getting one.

That trailer is pretty awesome. Shadow of Mordor is fun, but it's a lot like Assassin's Creed 1 (which I also liked), with very repetitive side missions. If they can pull an "AC2" with the sequel, the game will be amazing.

It clearly states you get a Windows Store gift card. Once you redeem it to your account, you can purchase Windows and XBOX games/apps/movies/music
 
4K TVs are actually pretty affordable now, compared to where the prices were a couple years ago. Theyre honestly almost yesterday's news. The new'ish big thing is OLED. They're so expensive but they're superior to most HDR sets. Once those become more affordable, 4K will go the way of plasma.

OLED is still 4K, just a different pixel technology with superior contrast/black level.

While I doubt any of them will start charging any kind of fees, I'm actually worried that Sony and Microsoft may start an "optimization war" in which certain games get optimized for Pro but not for Scorpio and the other way around as well.

With all the bells and whistles Rise of the Tomb Raider and Mass Effect Andromeda have had for their PS4 Pro versions, I wonder if Sony will be OK with Scorpio making those games look even better. Though I think is inevitable and Sony may be not be able or even willing to prevent any third-party title to be optimized to look (and perhaps perform) better on Scorpio than on Pro.

Interesting. I kinda want this game but not for $50. I haven't messed with changing regions since the Oman wars. So what's the chance that if you do this you'll get banned or not be able to play the game?
 
I think Darby has said this is okay with MS. You just have to buy 500 pesos from the Mexican MS store, then change your region and purchase, then change it back

And the only way to this is on your console itself, right? At work and was thinking of jumping on this in case the Mexican marketplace increases the price.
 
Because of some miscommunication about when the Feral Horde event in Gears 4 would end, there's been an extension for completing waves toward the character skins.  You need to have registered before this morning to qualify.  The playlist is gone, but waves on Hardcore or Insane on any map, public or private, between 10am Pacific today until 1pm Pacific tomorrow will also count toward the total.

After mostly suffering through quitters and just all around bad players in matchmaking all weekend, I hit the PUG lottery in feral horde last night with a group that plays together and knew what they were doing. So refreshing.

- Go to www.xbox.com.
- Scroll to the bottom and click on the link showing your current region.
- Choose the appropriate region.

Case West is pretty good. Case Zero is a decent intro but isn't much for replay value. 

Went to Gamestop to try to get some old pre-order money back toward picking up Zelda elsewhere. Didn't think ahead that it was trade-in credit so couldn't actually get it, no big deal, my fault. I instead put my $10 to getting a new copy of Song of the Deep. Thankfully, my brand new copy had a messed up case that was taped shut. I didn't actually look until I got home, but it just reminded me why I don't shop there anymore.

That only applies to changing the region setting on your console, not the website.

Buying x1 content from foreign markets is perfectly OK these days, you just need to buy currency for that market, change the region setting on the website, and you should be good to go. I don't bother jumping through those hoops because I can't buy m$ pesos for 20% off and I don't want to have a bunch of loose change from various currencies that I'll never be able to completely spend.


This site shows the list price for games in other regions, but note that it doesn't update to reflect sale prices.

If you use a credit card or even PayPal, wouldn't it just charge the amount to the account after the conversion rate? Not sure I understand why you need to buy actual currency.

The only reason I'm even considering this is that Torment is almost half off going through the Mexican site. That's a hell of a lot better than saving 20%.

Was planning on using PayPal to do it.

I think that's where you could potentially be comitting fraud; pretty sure you'd need a billing address in that region to pay directly. At least, I think that's why I had heard you need to buy foreign currency cards.
