Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

I'd rather they evaluate the game on whether or not it accomplished its goal. If you don't like fighting games, reviewing one is probably a bad idea, for example. Since its inception, people knew what Y-L was, and it sounds like they made the game they said they would. It's like if Destiny 2 has a lot of loot and multiplayer modes. "Too much like the title that inspired it." Eff off.

One review on Metacritic is a 35/100 because they said it felt too dated. I personally think anything below a 5/10 is reserved for games that have serious technical issues or are broken/unplayable. Medicore does not warrant a 3.5/10.
I'll remain cautiously optimistic since a lot of people still seem to like it and I ordered it for like $24 or something with that Visa promo. It doesn't sound like they did anything with the camera after the demo though and that was by far my biggest problem since combined with FPS drops it made some of the sections way harder than need be.

They're raising exposure for the franchise before surprising us with a Darksiders III announcement at E3. Lol.
We could only hope.

I'm so excited about the new Scorpio info on Thursday.

Our digital X1 purchases will work on Scorpio correct? If there's no disc drive I wouldn't mind but I'll miss the days of getting used games for cheap

should get confirmation later this week but word is all X1 digital content will be playable on all xbox systems going forward.

From all that I've read It's basically a supped up X1. Everything is BC.

360 BC titles with unlocked frame rate should hit 60. Same with X1 (I'd hope?) for a lot of games.

Any game with dynamic resolution will hit 1080p all the time.

I'm gonna re-play Condemned on the Scorpio because I know it hit 45fps on BC. Should be interesting.

Also VR will only work on Scorpio.

It's all the same ecosystem. Except playing your games on the Scorpio will make the Xbox One look like a PS Pro.

I can't imagine having the setup to make use of the Scorpio and don't care about 4k right now. But if they future-proof the system into being a platform which is sustained over time vs starting over from scratch every 7-10 years... well, that'll be pretty damned cool. Imagine in 15 years, the Xbox Two is out but is fully backwards compatible because they maintain the same basic software environment. You won't hear me complain.

I have heard rumors of no HDMI IN on Scorpio so if you use XBox One for TV that could be a big drawback.

Guess we'll find out Thursday.

In some ways, I'm a bit disappointed that Scorpio is not going to have exclusives (other than VR I guess). I understand the idea of not wanting to piss off Xbox One owners with a new generation so soon. But if it's really going to be as powerful as is expected I would have liked devs to take advantage of that --- pushing the boundaries with new games.

I had no desire to upgrade to a PS4 Pro just for enhanced graphics / performance of the same games and may feel the same about Scorpio even if it kicks ass in specs.

I believe with the latest UWP updates they can basically make all X1 games more powerful via simple tweaks, at least on the first party side. If your game is on Windows Store and X1 it should be even easier to update. So I'd expect to see some big updates to Tomb Raider, RE7 any other game that's on the windows store.

But yeah, if you don't have a 4K TV and HDR I don't see the big deal with Scorpio. I'm hoping It's $399 and not $499.

Exactly, first I must upgrade my TV to justify an Xbox One S or Scorpio purchase for me. That logic goes out the window if they release a Star Wars version of either console.

I know there's the focus on 4K and VR, but even if we don't have/want a 4K screen, wouldn't we still benefit from the better graphics though?  We'll know when they announce more specs, but I was going to get it just for the better hardware.  I have no intentions of getting a 4K screen nor trying VR.

I actually have a 4K TV since they got cheap enough, but will still really need to be wowed by Scorpio to want to get it without new games.

Even though I may not have a 4k TV yet, I may upgrade to the Scorpio just for the performance upgrade (frame rates). Been watching too much Digital Foundry!

I'm copping an OLED to go with my Scorpio. I may never want to leave the house ever again if it lives up to the hype.
I'm so happy with my 1080p set that I'll be using it until OLED hits my buy price (a 55" below $1k)

Ouch..... Jiim Sterling's website is going into meltdown, again, over his 2/10 review of Yooka-Laylee. This should be fun.

The guy is an idiot. First line of the review:

"If there’s one thing that can be said in Yooka-Laylee‘s favor, it’s that Playtonic absolutely nailed the creation of a late 90s 3D mascot platformer."

Um...yeah...that's kind of what it was going for. 2/10?!??! I mean if you stuck the disc in and only got a menu screen it would warrant that score.

He just made a simple mistake, placing the numerator's decimal point 1 place to the left. Happens all the time.

Probably not what you are talking about, but I would be shocked if the initial Scorpio package didn't include at least one game bundled in.

If you stuck in a disk and only got a menu, that would be a 0! Not a 2! What the hell is your zero??!? If the game is broken and cuts your hands on purpose?

Well I can only imagine how Crackdown 3 is gonna play. With any Xbox, thanks to their emphasise on cloud computing we're gonna have fully destruction in an urban setting but I think with the Scorpio/X1X it'll kill it in the graphics department. Better draw distance would be a huge win for the new hardware and that game. I still remember the first time I played the original on X360 just eyefucking the city and the views on top of the skyscrapers in that game.

I dont have a problem with that review, he's stating they created a late 90's platformer, which in 2017 is going to feel very out of date guess it didnt innovate as much as expected.

I am waiting for OLED to be sub 1k and I'm gonna grab one for sure.

I played through both banjo kazooie games on rare replay, and they felt fine. I don't think games require innovation to be good. I am fine with some companies cranking out similar content they know works.

Gears 4 April update just dropped, 4.99GB. Easter event coming as well as two Gears 3 maps, Slab and Hotel. Also, Kantus is back. Check out the link below for more info

"Our Core changes mostly focus on making the starting weapons fit their role better than before, with reduced range on the Gnasher, improvements to the Hammerburst and slight tweaks to the Lancer."

Oh, snap, let the salt flow!

Was anyone that was super interested in this game expecting it to innovate? I was expecting it to be a modern looking Banjo Kazooie game and hoping it would be reasonably polished.

Mighty #9 reviews "they tried to innovate a combo system and screwed it up"

Yooka-laylee reviews "they didn't innovate and the game feels dated"

I'm happier with a solid experience where they don't try to for innovation, personally.

On a 1080p screen, it'll still put out a 1080p signal, and HDR requires a TV which supports it, right? Framerates might be better and dynamic resolutions may go away (Doom and FFXV for example may hit and stay at 1080p or at least a constant 900p, etc) but without the TV to go with it, that isn't a huge incentive to upgrade IMHO.

Ugh. I enjoyed some of his snark on Destructoid but now it's just tired. He clearly does/says incendiary things to get page views, which is fine I guess, but when your review is an outlier and impacts the aggregate score of a game, that's shitty and immature.

Like I said before, anything below a 5/10 should be reserved for games that are broken / not finished products / plagued with technical issues.

This a problem with all reviews, and the fact that most outlets seem to use the scale like a school percentage system. Really, a 5 should mean mediocre or average, rather than 7, if we want to have a more useful rating system.

Guys...If this is true, the Scorpio is a runaway train on a collision course with our bodies. I don't think I'm ready.
I'd definitely take that with a grain of salt, especially a seemingly quoted bungie.net post with no source. I don't see Scorpio being 4K, 60 FPS, and comparable to Ultra PC settings unless Scorpio is like $800-1000. 4K resolution alone is pretty damn demanding. Just look at the list of games that actually run at native 4K on PS4 Pro.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-every-native-4k-ps4-pro-game-tested

They're virtually all old games, and out of the "leaked" specs in the post Battlefield 4 and Witcher 3 are pretty demanding on PC if you want to hit all three marks mentioned. Doom has a very good engine so it might be feasible. Fallout is a maybe but it's not super well optimized. Halo 5: Forge needs a pretty good graphics card for 4K as well.

Yeah he's quoting things that a to end PC would struggle to do at 4K.

Hence my observation of it being amusing. At least my uncle at Nintendo thinks so.

I think it's well documented by now that Jim Sterling is just a troll. I wouldn't put any stock into his reviews. I guess if you find him funny you can get some entertainment out of his stuff, but that's about it.

I don't really believe this. A high end PC running a 1070 gtx can't run most newer games at 4k on ultra maintaining 60fps. If it's smaller than the S than it better have a beast of a cooling unit otherwise it will throttle itself. Not to mention the author looks to barely understand paragraph structure. Bottom line, don't believe everything you hear on the internet.

Pretty fun tine to be an Xbox fan. We've all been wondering how powerful Scorpio really is and now we're hopefully all gonna find out. I've got a PSVR, but if they announce their plan for VR on the Scorpio I may end up selling my PSVR in preparation for Scorpio VR. Would also need to upgrade to a 4K TV at some point. I think I need a 2ND job.

But if that's their objective, should it be a problem? And it's not like it's got late 90's graphics, etc. It just has that feel to it. We accept that with all of the old school-style platformers and RPGs from indie developers, after all.

Totally agree. I actually always found his shtick tiring on Destructoid. Years ago, I visited the site every day but what eventually led to my visiting less frequently was Jim basically taking over the site with his troll articles. He would also post all these preaching-to-the-choir articles about the terrible way games were covered in mainstream media. Like okay, we get it- now let's get back to actual gaming news, please.

Anybody else remember his 10/10 score for Deadly Premonition? I mean, at that point we all knew he was just fucking with us.

Well just got an outstanding employee bonus today so I bought a 2 TB Segate external off Amazon for $70.

Now to debate if I download Mass Effect or Elder Scrolls Online this month. My bandwidth cap is that terrible, I can safely download only one game a month that is over 40 gigs.

I don't understand a lot of what that guy was saying, but if MS and AMD did somehow develop some new super-powered technology that can only be used in Scorpio that would be pretty amazing
