Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

The season pass for Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is supposed to be free. The game comes with it, both platforms.
Supposed to be a pile of butts.
Saw the review for it and it looks like a far cry game but with a military like theme. Will definitely try it out once it hits sub 20 which should be in 3 weeks or less.

A new Heroes of the Storm event just started on PC. You get rewards for HotS and Overwatch, including console versions as long as your XBL/PSN is connected. If you play 5 games this week with a friend, you can get the Oni Genji skin again. Next week there is a new exclusive Policewoman D.Va skin. You can do each step weekly, third is just some D.Va spray and icon, with the fourth week being 10 lootboxes.

The D.Va skin is really cool. I'll be playing some (with no HotS skill at all) if anyone wants to group up, probably starting tomorrow as I'm still downloading. Battletag is Whistle#11212

Acknowledgement that the focus on Locke and Osiris was a blunder with Halo 5. I never really understood why they thought it was a good idea when so Halo 2 had a pretty negative initial reaction with the Arbiter stuff way back in 2004. Arby grew on people but I don't anyone that likes Locke or anyone on his team except Buck.
He's a horribly generic character. By the book, cut and dry company man. Trying to force him down our throats was a bad move.

Oh, man...I resisted in the past, but I don't think I can pass up a D.Va skin. I'll check it out and probably send you a request soon!

Too bad the original movie is so boring. Started with Aliens and went back to the original. Not a good way to watch them, I think. Aliens is so much more entertaining. Thanks for the heads up, though!
Actually thinking aliens is better than alien

Alien and Aliens are two totally different movies IMO. One a horror classic. One a sci-fi action blockbuster. Both are fantastic. That said the first will always be my favorite. (And who the fuck can think it's "boring"?)

Can't wait for Alien: Covenant!

If you watch the sequel first and want another action film, the first movie will bore you. But the first movie wasn't about action, it was about suspense. It's true it has some pacing issues which are more a relic of the late 1970s (a lot of silent scenes with no music or dialogue) but it's still an incredible film.

After Alien 4 I didn't think 'd ever be excited for another Alien film, but that was before Ridley Scott got back on the franchise. I'm pretty hyped myself.

I thought Prometheus was the boring one.
Prometheus did a lot of world building and exposition which made it hard to care about what was happening and understand its relation to the franchise, but by the end I was on board with it. I appreciate they made a very different film instead of just recycling plot points from other films in the series.

Whenever the discussion of Aliens comes up, I'm always reminded how James Cameron almost returned to do another Aliens movie, but instead 20th Century Fox decided to go with Aliens vs Predator.

I don't really think boring is a fair description for Prometheus. It has a lot of cool ideas and designs but is bogged down by a few glaring plot issues. I was looking forward to the forever announced sequel but Covenant does not look anything like I expected. Not that it looks bad or anything.

Really, it looks way closer than I expected to the sequel comic from a couple years ago, Fire and Stone. Probably just the earlier part though, it gets kind of out there farther in.

I liked Prometheus after the 4th time watching it. I don't know why I watched it so much when I didn't even like it the first time. I think my mistake was expecting an Aliens movie.

Aliens>Alien

Great non-number title too

Ridley Scott initially said Prometheus would be its own trilogy and the clear connections to the original film wouldn't be fully evident til the end of those films. Now the sequel has "Alien" in the title and very clearly features xenomorphs, so I'm curious what happened between that initial planning and now. I assume it's a business/marketing thing.

Also, Ridley Scott is 79. I hope remains in good health and doesn't have any encounters with any chest-bursters any time soon or we may never see the end of this story.

Looks like I'm giving Heroes of the Storm a chance in the near future. Never played a moba and know nothing of them, but for the D.Va skin? Looks like I'm learning.

Piscotty should have nailed him in the head as he dived for home. Would have been a chance at sweet revenge.

He's already written the next movie after Covenant (which actually takes place between Prometheus and this one). And wants to do three more Alien films after that!

Not sure if he'll be alive to see it through but if he can get them written maybe someone else can pick up the torch.

If I were to foolishly jump into a massive game that I know I will never finish because all I really want to do is play MLB The Show and Forza Horizon 3, which one should it be?

Fallout 4
Final Fantasy XV
Persona 5
Skyrim Special Edition
The Witcher 3

I prefer Aliens, since I far prefer action movies to horror/suspense.  Alien is good, but not really for me.

Prometheus on the other hand, is awful.  I hated that trainwreck.

*pushes up nerd glasses* I Think this will be more to what Ridley wanted because the original Prometheus script was meant to tie more closely to Alien according to the three hour making of documentary, but it wasn't until Damon Lindelof did the rewrites where it became less apparent and thus was renamed to just Prometheus and I believe gave us more of the non sensical character beats in the film as well.

Also has anyone ever noticed that Prometheus goes almost beat for beat story wise with The Wolverine? Meaning same storyline of protagonist going to place of his/her origin thanks to rich old benefactor. Benefactor dies, character has virus implanted in them in which the protagonist must perform surgery on oneself to remove it and benefactor turns out alive (though really never needed to fake death) and dies while trying to get the gift of immortality.

Final Fantasy is actually possible to beat while playing those other games. I don't think you'll enjoy skyrim, witcher, or fallout 4 by playing in very small portions. I know nothing about persona 5, bit I'm assuming it's long as fuck.

FFXV can be finished in ~15 hours if you rush the story, or you can spen 50+ hours in the first 1/3 of the game doing bounties and side missions. I think the other games on your list, it's easier to get lost and stay lost.

I'd say Fallout 4. You can never truly "finish" the game. There's always some place to explore and a new settlement to build. It'd be a shame if you started up something as epic as The Witcher 3 and never finished the story. If you really, really wanted to finish it, and I mean do EVERYTHING, including all achievements, youre looking at something close to 250-300 hours, possibly more.

It depends what you want in your game.

Final Fantasy XV I've never played outside of the demo but I heard a lot of mixed impressions. My gut impressions from the demo is It's basically Square's take on a open world game featuring the backstreet boys. I read a lot of people finishing it in 40ish hours which seems awfully fast for a open world game.

Fallout 4 is basically Skyrim with Guns ;)

Skyrim is Fallout 4 with magic and swords ;)

Fallout 4 is worst in almost every way compared to New Vegas except for combat and graphics. The combat in Fallout 4 is quite good, and while the graphics are not spectacular for a current game they suffice. I was done with a majority of the game closing in on one hundred hours I believe.

Skyrim is still the poster boy for open world RPGS. Every open world game basically has to play like it/have the content to even compare. It was my favorite open world RPG till Witcher 3 came out, and the only other game to compete with it for me is probably Breath of the Wild. Either way your looking at 200+ hours to do most of everything. Maybe even more then that. Skyrim is by far the longest game in the list for me.

Persona 5 from my 40+ hours with it (which is about 1/3rd the way through btw) is excellent in story, combat and visuals (extremely stylish for a PS3 game) and is my personal GOTY so far just ahead of Zelda. It's a mix between a dating sim/pokemon/RPG/visual novel. Your going to want to play it consistently though otherwise you'll probably get lost story wise. I play it every Sunday/Monday to get about 13+ hours a week, and do my XBox gaming on my other days. 120 hours seems to be the standard to finish the main story and filler seems quite minimal.

The Witcher 3 is arguably the best open world game I've ever played. It's hard to put into words just how amazing the game is. It's only flaw is getting used to the combat, especially if your only playing the game here and there. I spent over 100+ hours in the game and haven't touched the DLC yet (going to beat later in the year hopefully). So factoring in DLC probably 150+ hours of time spent on the game.

tdlr:

Get Witcher 3 or Skyrim. If you don't like swords and stuff then get Fallout 4 cuz it has guns.

Persona 5 for waifus and story.

How long to beat averages main:extra:

The Witcher 3 101 (another 42 hours for the DLC)

Persona 5 104 hours

Skyrim 138 hours (adding in the DLC since it's included with all current gen versions)

Fallout 4 77 hours (another 30+ hours if you add the DLC)

Oh last edit. You should consider the prices as well. Witcher 3 was actually $25 recently for the GOTY edition which included all the DLC so you just missed that. Fallout 4 was $55 multiple times for the complete edition with all the DLC. Skyrim was $40 recently though it was $30 during the black friday sales. Final Fantasy cheapest was $36. Persona 5 is too new and hasn't been on sale outside of the Prime/GCU 20% off.

Is forza bundle worth it for 36?
It is for me since I just bought my first XB1 this month, so better deals in the past are irrelevant to me. And the Forza games is basically why I bought the system. Right now used copies of these games go as low as $16 for FH2 and $35 for FM6 on Amazon, and trade value at a place like GS is still good without any promos or stealth bumps.

Thank you. That pretty well encapsulates my feelings on the two. I don't watch horror movies, in general, because the people are inevitably beyond stupid to make the predicaments they're in work. For Alien, in particular, the suspenseful stuff was all really already known after watching Aliens first, so no suspense, long periods of nothing, no real action. It may not have done much for me personally, but it gave rise to the wonderful, wonderful Aliens movie, so won't dismiss it however I feel about it. (^_^)

Prometheus has promise early on, but terrible character choices and writing killed it quick. I'd spoiler the following, but really it's so bad noone should watch it anyway. So many crap writing decisions like the sensor must have a glitch, scientists scared of their shadows then want to hug the angry hissing snake creature, not asking the chick covered in blood WTF happened to you?, the cartoon like running from the rolling object instead of running out of it's path. I feel like the zamboni scene in Deadpool was panning this one. So disappointing. I still bought the super deluxe edition from best buy when it was really cheap with the idea of watching the extras to see if important stuff was cut that explained the dumb stuff, but never brought myself to actually watching it. I was shocked it got a sequel.

Watching Aliens first does not do justice to Alien. Part of Alien's suspense is not knowing anything about this new, terrifying creature so if you've seen Aliens first you've seen so much of them they lose their mystique for the first movie. It's been awhile, but it seems like there weren't too many idiot mistakes by the characters in that one, maybe a character or two frustratingly froze in fear, but not the all out idiocy of Prometheus.

Just put together two Word documents with all the X1 and X360 games I own (excluding F2P & EA Access games but including GWG). 110 on Xbox One (including the few discs) and 183 on Xbox 360 (excluding discs because I made this at work and don't remember everything I own).

Now, in case of a World War, I'm pretty much set for years hiding in a basement with just my two consoles.

Just logged into my Kellogg's Family Rewards to keep my points from expiring and saw that the deadline to purchase/redeem Halo Wars 2 Blitz Packs from specially marked Cheez Its, etc is April 30th so here's a friendly reminder!  Never saw a single participating item around here.
